Most of the time, the first thing I say when I walk into a room is "No".

Of course I AM back to being a stay at home mom and it IS Summer Vacation...

I have started making it a point to say it before the kids have a chance to ask me for the insane things they should know better than to ask. I have added for good measure, the practice of saying "No" when I notice them looking at me, and I also do so when I anticipate that they will be looking at me. I practice saying "No" when no one is around, just to stay at the top of my game.

I have thrown in other variations of the word 'No' such as "That's a negative", "Not likely", "Huh-uh", "Are you CRAZY!", and "Absolutely NOT!" just to shake things up a bit.

When I am feeling really spunky, I like to build their hopes up a bit before I let them down with "You really REALLY want to? *pause* .... No!"

That's cruel. I approve. Anything that teaches kids they dont get what they want is a good thing. Stupid kids what with their rockity rolling music and their bell bottom jeans.

You are a demon.

Yes. I can be very cruel. I tell my kids that I am mean all of the time, but they insist on arguing with me. I have been so mean to them ever since they were spawned that they don't even realize how mean I am.

Even their friends think I am mean, and have told them so... but they get all indignant and stick up for me and stuff.

I kept my best friend's kids for a few days last week, and they didn't even want to ask me questions by the end of the first day. I would hear them tell my kids that I would "...just say no anyway." They would get on my kids nerves with their incessant pleas to play the video games or computers, or go for walks down our rural gravel road with no shoulders (or witnesses), or eat my chips... My kids would say, "Ask Mom." And that would be the end of it.

When the visiting girl told my daughter I was mean, my girl told her, "This is MY MOM's House! And if you don't like her, then you can go home now, because she is the one who let you come over in the first place!" After that my daughter ignored her friend for about 20 minutes to teach her a lesson.

One of the neighbor boys called me a b***h to my son, and he ended up on his a** (my son isn't even a violent sort)... I did have to reward my boy... I think he should be violent more often though...

Better be careful. You might ruin your reputation.
