"Okay!" Naida replied waving.
She ducked down under water, underwater was at least a bit easier than doing it out of the water. Her fin tips could be seen waggling back and forth until it splashed back into the river.
Feng shrugged, "I wished so too, it just seems so weird and contrary it's hard to know what to make of it."

Adonijah smiled and came very close to chuckling as he watched Naida's fins flipping about atop the water, but he remembered Ruran and how soaked the boy had been, and his conscience didn't allow him to feel any sense of joy.
"Very good," he said quietly, giving the mergirl an approving nod.
Aliya shook her head. "Who knows? It's like Elrohir's brother. No one else in the family turned out bad, but Riordan ..." She sighed. "Sometimes there are no explanations. It just happens, I guess."
Meanwhile, just on the other side of the river, Celebor was returning with Ryu and Ruran. Ruran had fallen asleep with his head on Celebor's shoulder, and, though he would threaten to beat up anyone who said it, was looking rather cute, very much like the little boy he was supposed to be.
As they came into the clearing, Celebor smiled and waved at the others to tell them that Ruran was all right.

"They're back!" Feng clapped her hands together with joy.
Despite the fact that Ruran was a brat, she was worried. She waved back widely.
"Lookie!" Naida pointed, "It's Uncle Ryu! And Celebor! And Ruran!"

Celebor held Ruran about at his shoulder height, then started into the water to wade across the river. It was as deep as his shoulders in the middle, but soon he was on the other side, and he held Ruran against his chest once more.
"We're back," he said in a quiet, relieved tone. "He was ... far."

"At least he's back safe," Feng replied with a wide smile.
And really that was all that mattered at the moment.
"Is he going to be okay?" she eyed his still damp clothes.

Celebor smiled and looked down at Ruran, who was sleeping peacefully.
"Perhaps a bit of a cold," he murmured. "He was sneezing a lot until he fell asleep. But that's about all, I think. I hope. Anyways, I've got to get him into dry clothes and a warm bed. I'll see you all later." And he headed off towards Ulani and Ulrich's house.
Adonijah rose quickly and quietly to his feet. "I'll come along," he said softly, following after Celebor.

"Alright..." Feng nodded, "We'll see you later then."
Though she couldn't help but feel curious as to why Adonijah wanted to go. It made her think even more that something happened.
"Aww.... play later?" Naida asked Adonijah looking up with wide eyes.

Adonijah nodded his head without turning around or looking at Naida. Yes, he would play with her later ... after he was certain that Ruran was not suffering because of him.
Aliya watched in silence as her son headed off, and she was more certain than ever that something had happened between him and Ruran. He had never acted so strangely before ... and she could see that his conscience was very guilty indeed.
"I'll ask him later what happened," she murmured to Feng with a nod. "Something must have."

"Probably...." Feng murmured, "Celebor was asking who would be up really early in the morning, which is just about everyone, and Ruran was already a bit... peeved when we met him."
"Did I miss something?" Ryu looked confused.
He had no idea what was going, not having been around earlier to see how Adonijah was acting.

Aliya looked up at Ryu. "Adonijah's been acting strangely all day," she told him seriously. "Quieter than usual ... acting ... almost guilty. And the way he went with Celebor and Ruran just now ... I can't help but think that he might have had something to do with what happened to Ruran this morning."

Ryu did have to admit Ruran had been muttering about someone earlier before he ran off though if it was Adonijah he didn't think the kid should feel guilty. At least, Adonijah didn't strike him as the type to hit first.
"Well if it is.... I think he and Celebor will probably work it out," Ryu murmured, "If Adonijah says anything that is, I doubt Celebor will hold it against him... Ruran might, but not in a typical child way."

Aliya shook her head and flicked her toes in the water. "I just hope that Ruran ... how do you say it ... will wake up and see the beauty of the world around him, see that the people around him care about him, and that the world is not out to get him. That he doesn't have to be so full of hatred."

"Well... first he's going to have to like himself," Feng murmured.
Something she knew Ryu thought was easier said than done the boy was so stubborn, but then again if strength wasn't such a big deal. Honestly there was more to this world than being strong...
"That, will be a thought for another time," Ryu added, "There isn't much we can do now."

She only hoped that the boy would indeed change someday.He needed to ... for his own sake, as well as others'.

Things at the least seemed to have settled down somewhat. Miyu enjoyed getting the now Celebor's little ones better, at least the ones she could get along with without mi-ing or twitching. It really bothered her to be around Ruran, but only because she knew she was only half angel and she didn't want to get into a confrontation with him if she could help it.
When the hunting party returned, Miyu was there to greet them for once, instead of skittering or hiding somewhere. There were advantages to spending time with the children.
