Donovan finally came in, he had gone around checking on people rather than head straight back. He caught the tail end of Adonai's words as he did so.
"Well... blunt or not, I just suck at talking at people," he told the two coming into the play room, he looked down at Kara, "And Lin is occupied at the moment, I don't know if she'll make it for dinner."

"You got Lin to do talking?" Kara chuckled back up at him.
Go figure he would do something like that, but then again Donovan wasn't good at that sort of stuff like he said. Well he was, but it made him uncomfortable.
Lin tilted her head, in her usual tell a tale curious way, everyone was so quiet it was kind of eerie to her. She gave a faint smile before grabbing Timaeus' wrist and dragged him over to a place to sit.
"Do you mind if I stay a while?"

Adonai chuckled softly at Donovan. "I wasn't talking about you," he smiled, "but if you choose to take it that way, so be it. Lin is a good choice to talk to Timaeus ... she is so innocent about so many things still ... if anyone can make him feel better, it will be her."
Arthael smiled at Lin, bringing over a wooden tray of drinks for everyone.
"Please do," she said softly, setting the tray on the table. "I think we could all use the company ... though I think we will probably all be going to bed early."
Timaeus sat down on a chair and reached for one of the drinks. He winced a bit as he gulped it down. Ale ... not his favourite. While he had to admit that it did warm him up, he didn't like the way it burned going down his sore throat.
Halmir moved over a bit on the couch to make room for his wife next to him, and Arthael joined him without hesitation, looking more tired than she had ever looked before.

Lin took a cup and a careful sip, it sat in her mouth for a moment before she swallowed. She almost coughed, she never had ale before. However it made her warm inside even though she didn't know why, the drink itself wasn't warm.
"It's fine, I'm sure Mom and Dad would want me back at a more reasonable time, I've been out during the nights with Elros sometimes so my sleep habits are a bit erratic."

Donovan chuckled a bit in return as he glanced over to see how the children were doing.
"So how are they?" he inquired, having missed most of the adjustment period.

Adonai smiled at Donovan. "Rhea and Miyu and Toshiro seem to be keeping them entertained," he murmured. "I keep hearing comments about wings and such ..."
He chuckled.
"And of course Saki fits into that category nicely, as well as the talking animal bit," he grinned. "They've all been bathed, it looks like ... I think they'll be fine."
Arthael smiled at Lin. "Yes, I've heard that your parents would like you to sleep properly at nights," she murmured softly. "Though I fear that that will not happen for a long time, if ever ... you are far more active than most people of your age, Lin ..."
"But you will never catch us complaining," Halmir chuckled. "Life is certainly interesting with you around."
He looked at Timaeus, who was holding his mug of ale with both hands and staring down into it silently.

"It's a novelty," Kara replied softly, "I think more so because Rhea has them."
She wasn't so sure, but she was pretty sure that there was something about an elf having wings that made it much more interesting.
"And they've been bath, given hot cider and Haradhel is making dinner at the moment."
And she doubted she would do anything else as an adult. She grinned a bit before noting that Timaeus hadn't said a word since they left his room.
"Timaeus?"

Adonai chuckled softly. "Elves with wings ... a thing completely unheard of. I don't even think I've seen people pretending to have wings, I don't know if anyone's ever thought of the idea before."
Of course there were stories about the Valar appearing as winged elves, though they had no true form, but even so no elf would ever aspire to be like the Valar.
Timaeus continued to stare down into his mug as if he had not heard Lin, though of course he had. He had to admit that he felt better after his long cry ... but he still felt guilty. Nothing would change that.
Arthael and Halmir exchanged a worried glance, and then Arthael leaned forward and smiled gently at Lin.
"So tell us," she said, trying to sound cheerful. "What has been happening here on the ranch since we left? Anything big happen?"

"Well ideas come from somewhere," Kara replied, "I... have never thought about it before. Of course.." she glanced at Miyu and Toshiro, "It's normal to me."
She paused a bit thinking back on all of it.
"I do admit though I had never seen an elf with wings even back home until I met Rhea."
Lin thought about it, "Well... there was a letter from the Eastland, but you'll have to ask about that."
She figured she shouldn't say anything, besides she didn't even know what Elros was going to choose and she hadn't ever asked him because this was already a hard choice for him.
"Mom is teaching Rhea in the mornings," Lin mused a bit more, "And... I think that's about it."

Adonai chuckled. "Then it seems that your world is not quite so different from ours as I once believed," he smiled. "Though of course ... Elnara and Lore did tell me a bit about it. The elves of your world, I mean. Not much ... Lore seemed a little uncomfortable at times, I think, and Elnara did not seem very fond of the elves she knows from there."
"Oh?"
Halmir's gray eyes glittered mischievously. "A letter? To whom? What about?"
Even Arthael looked interested, and normally she was the one to chide her husband ... but letters out here were so rare, especially if they weren't from the Southland.

Kara's hand flew to Donovan's mouth before her husband could say anything that was going to be horribly blunt or rude about one person in question. Well that not she could blame him for being horribly blunt or rude about it.
"Truth of the matter is I rarely get to see one where we live. We live too close to the city, very few like to live close to there. Lore being an exception, but he has his reasons, I believe his people come far from the North and tend to keep to themselves normally. As for Elnara... she met two that were complete contradictions to what she knew.. which was probably why they live close by to being with, they're not the norm."
Lin rolled her eyes, "It was from Pen and Lothiriel, and it was to Elros, and you are not to bug him about it."
She never had to be firm with Halmir, but she was going to set her foot down at Halmir bugging Elros about it.

Donovan blinked and removed Kara's hand from his mouth. He sometimes didn't understand her need to remain polite especially when the person in question was a jackass.
"The brother was a dolt..." Donovan replied, "I would say other things but then Kara would whack me."
He chuckled darkly.
"But it was fun scaring him shitless while I could, underground fighter my a**, he probably never picked up anything more dangerous than a butterknife."

Adonai's eyes narrowed suspiciously as he watched Kara and Donovan, and listened to Donovan's words.
"Just who is this person?" he asked, his tone indicating that he wouldn't let the matter slide. "If everyone has such a low opinion of him, he can't be much good ..."
Halmir nodded at Lin. "If you say so," he murmured softly, not at all bothered by Lin's order. After all, he was but one person, and there was an entire ranch full of people who could tell him more.

Kara groaned, "His name was Sasku, he had been for sometime courting Elnara long before she met Lore."
She really would rather the matter slide, Elnara was married to Lore now and they were a wonderful couple, but then again they had thought the same about Sasku at one time hadn't they?
"Before you get the wrong idea, he's not a bad person perse... he's not mean nor cruel.. he's..."
"Thank you," Lin replied before looking back at Arthael, "There's also talk of Cindy coming here soon to pick up from where Mom will leave off with Rhea, which means Cindy will probably be staying here for a long time."

"He was an idiot," Donovan butted in, "You can dress it up all you want Kara, he was an idiot and yet he's probably nearly as old if not a bit more than Lore."
After all Donovan already had heard enough about Sasku to decide the man had not grown up in his many decades of living.
"He has no concept of cultural differences, he doesn't even bother to try to understand them. He has to most archanic view of women I have ever seen in Gaia... in Gaia Kara. He's lived in a city where a woman is just as likely to kick your a** as any man is, and he treats them like they're weak."
Donovan grumbled a bit as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Weak my a**, my mother could run circles around that wuss."
