Xander rolled his eyes and buckled up, but only the lap belt, he pulled the shoulder strap so it was behind him and not chafing his neck. When asked how he felt, Xander shrugged, "Fine." he said. He let the back of his head hit the seat's headrest as he waited for them to arrive at their destination.

Connor looked at Xander. "Are you sure? No...discomfort, no new feelings?" He looked back at Kurtis. "No, why?"

"Other than my back glowing, no, no new feelings." Xander said, failing to mention the incident with the lamp.

A few hours later, the soldiers (and Niola) were on their way home.
Connor shrugged. "I don't see why we could be."

"... Because any Gov' agents in there will probably not take too kindly to us bringing in mercenaries," Kurtis replied slowly.

"Well, the mercenaries can handle that on their own," Connor said with a hint of smugness. "We can always get in like regular scientists.

As the helicopter was flying home, a call came over the radio. St. Cyrill took it and listened for a few minutes. He came back to the others. "We're going to drop the civilian - sorry, Niola - off, then you and I are going to Canada," he shouted to Richard.

Esther choked on her own air intake as her eyes grew glassy. Had she been...shot? "Please no, please no, please no..." she begged whatever entity may be listening, but she recieved no reasurence that it was anything else. She fell limply forward into the steering wheel as her foot dropped exhausted from the gas peddle.

((Oh wow, nice roll! PM me and we'll start talking about your powers.))
As the car slowed, Gray looked over and saw Esther slumped over. "No!" he breathed. He climbed over the seat, oblivious to the bullets, and checked her vitals. Weak, but there. Gray pulled her out of the seat and took it himself, pulling them away and trying to escape the Canadian agents. Esther was asleep for the next hour.

McMullard nodded; that was fine with him. He would've liked some rest and some time to refill magazines, but he'd survive without it.
After a little while, they were back on their way, heading towards Canada.
"What are we doing going to Canada anyway?" McMullard asked. "Is it more to do with the substance?"
