Well, if she wasn't breathing, Nye was doing enough for the both of them. He was hyperventilating and his heart was racing, and he was absolutely terrified of the fact that she may or may not be too far gone for him to help.

Lucky for Ivie, Nye's spontaneity made him a man of many useful talents. He had his lifeguard bout, but once the girls started hitting on him, he got annoyed and quit. He did have his CPR training, though...

In a moment's notice, Nye reached into the bath, his sleeves heavy with water, and slid an arm down around Ivie's knees, and left another on her back. She was hoisted up, and right down onto the cold tiles. There was no time for anything, no towel to cover her up or put under her so that the floor wasn't so cold.

It was time for some emergency mouth-to-mouth.

Gale shrugged. He never needed noise to work like some people did. He was a peace-and-quiet kinda guy, fall asleep to the birds chirping, yadda yadda. He chuckled lightly at the obscene amounts of conditioner, and it was probably the good kind, too. Her hair had always been lovely.

"Sometimes, when I 'ave th' time. Need t' stay in sha'e 'cause I do a lo' of physi'al work. Wha's your fav'rite time o' day?"

Well isn't that just handy? Trust Nye to know mouth-to-mouth. Well, Ivie did too but she was a nurse, and you need to know those things in her profession.

She wasn't thinking about that right now though, mostly because she was unconcious. Her body made absolutely no stirring of its own as Nye scooped her out of her watery grave and set her on the freezing tiles. No flinches, no moans of uncomfort; nothing. She was totally silent and still, her chest not even moving to breath.

Her heart, however, still pulsed however dimly and it was awfully happy when Nye let loose that first stream of air into Ivie's lungs. He didn't need to press down on her chest, thankfully, because of it, and after a few tense minutes of him breathing into her and her breathing out, the girl let loose a water-logged splutter. Her head was turned to the side to let the fluid drain onto the tiles and Ivie's lungs ever so slowly began to work of their own accord once more, happy now that they had both air to breath and no more water in them.

She didn't wake up though. Her mind had shut down for the moment, deprived of air, but this stillness was of the safer type, as if she was just sleeping. Hell, she'd even begun shivering from the cold; that had to be good.

Arvia's hair was her best feature, in her opinon. Why else would she keep it so stupidly long? Because she could, that's why, and not many people could match it. The rest of her? Oh yes, gorgeous, but in her mind she didn't stand out as much as she should have, hair aside. We won't get into that.

"Sunrise. New beginnings, and the colours are much more subtle." Came the easy reply. After some long nights of parties - none of which Arvia ever enjoyed that much really - she came home in time to watch the sunrise. It was quiet then; everyone but her was asleep, and she simply sat on one of the benches outside and watched the colour creep back into the sky.

"Do you play an instrument?"

Nye sat up and took a deep, calming breath, trying to calm his own body down. He leaned back on his knees and grabbed two bath towels from the rack, wrapping them both around Ivie like a burrito. The door wasn't a problem for him, seeing as it was hanging limply off the top hinge, so he automatically scooped Ivie up once more and carried her to his own bed, not particularly concerned about sending the wrong message.

He had set her down carefully, peeled the covers out from underneath her and draped them over the towels. He found the remote to the TV and set it on the nightstand nearby, finally noticing his hands shaking violently. He had never been so nervous in his life! And god, to think that there was a chance that he may be the reason for that awful, awful suicide attempt...

Feeling guilty and drained, Nye walked out of his bedroom and went straight to the kitchen, stepping right over Lizzie in the process. This would be the third or fourth time he had made tea in the last few hours, but it was the best thing to warm a person up. Some tea and strawberry jam.

Gale thought she stood out just fine, the prettiest girl he had ever really seen in his life. She had a great personality, too, so it was a wonder she always came home alone.

"I love the mornin' hours," he said in agreement. "Pop trie' t' teach me gui'ar, an' it kinda wor'ed. 'Aven't played in years, though. Dogs or cats?"

When a person's body goes into shut-down it dosen't tend to wake up immidiately, not after something like that. The sun was beginning to drop behind the cityscape by the time Ivie so much as twitched. It was a slow, slightly painful process to open her eyes and, after she'd fixed them on the light above, she realised that it hurt to breath.

Looked as if she'd failed again. Her eyes dropped shut and she felt terrible; firstly because she'd inconvinienced Nye like this and secondly? She couldn't even die right. How stupid was that?

For now, though, she was warm and awfully comfortable and didn't feel like moving. She felt heavy and, after rolling onto her side, quite exhausted. Perhaps she'd just stay here a little while...

Perhaps it was just because you didn't get out, Gale, though I'd have to agree with you; Arvia's downright hot. As for coming home alone? Well, she certainly didn't have to if she didn't want to. There were plenty of men, university or otherwise, who'd welcome the chance to come home and have a tumble. Unfortunately for Arvia, they'd do the same for any pretty lady the very next night.

Guitar? Arvia had to grin. "That's so country-boy. Accousitic, right? Do you own one?"

"Oh, that wasn't my question!" She waved her hnds quickly. "And cats. I couldn't be strict enough with a dog, they're too cute. Yourself? I see you as a dog person."

Nye had been checking in on her, checking her pulse, her temperature, every twenty minutes or so. At the time being, he and his exhausted self was napping lightly on the armchair in the corner of the room, book in hand. He didn't mean to fall asleep, really, but the day's events had completely wiped him out.

And what do you know, there was a cup of cold tea and strawberry jam on the nightstand.

Gale stuck his tongue out. So he was a contry-boy, and he liked it. He could see Arvia as a cat person, probably one of those fuzzy white ones, now that he thought of it.

"I ha' a dog back home. So, yes, dogs. Woul' y' ever ride a mo'orcycle?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 29, 2008 5:59 pm

The tea and jam on the nightstand were right in Ivie's vision, and while it seemed as if she'd done nothing all day except eat she had to admit that she was actually hungry. Slowly, carefully, she sat up, wincing a little at her oxygen deprived muscles. She managed to sit up before she realised something. She was naked. In Nye's bed.

She wasn't sure whether to freak out or be horribly, horribly embaressed. Settling for the latter - Nye was over there asleep on the chair right now and she didn't think he was the sort of guy to take advantage of of a half-dead woman - she quickly tied one of the towels around her chest and made sure the blankets were pulled up to cover...well...yeah. You get the drift. They were a little damp, the blankets I mean you pervert, but that might have been because her hair was wet.

Slowly, carefully, she leant over and captured the plate of bread and jam in her hands, pulling it onto her knees. She was going to get crumbs in the bed but right now, she was hungry. Hopefully she wouldn't wake Nye up. That would be awkward.

Yes, fuzzy white ones. Arvia did always like them, but not persians. The scrunched up faces were kinda icky. She simply poked her tongue back out at Gale in return, before giggling.

"Yes. Provided either I, or someone I trusted, was driving. They'd have to have been doing it a while....You ever wanted one?"

Nye wasn't the lightest sleeper in the world, but he was in more of a dozing state rather than a full-on nap. The gentle scraping of ceramics against wood, the rustling of blankets, and the dull whirring of the heating system caused him to let his eyes flutter open.

It took him a second to refocus his vision, regretting leaving his contacts in while he slept. He reached for the case in his pocket and swiftly exchanged the lenses for his slim, 'intelligent/sexy' look glasses. He looked around, having remembered the days events, and only smiled upon seeing Ivie awake. "You want me to go get you some warm tea?" he said in all nonchalance.

Gale set his empty mug on the table in front of them, and adjusted his position to more of a curl-up on the couch. Comfy~

"Yeah, bu' Mum woul' mur'er me if I di'. 'M scarred up enou' as is. Wha' was th' wors' injury y've ever go'en?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 29, 2008 7:38 pm

Halfway through her sandwhich, Ivie noticed that Nye had woken up. Right now she didn't have the energy to panic or worry that she was dressed only in towels and bed-sheets. She simply nestled back against the multitude of pillows on Nye's bed and nibbled at the bread, watching him with her large, grene eyes as he fiddled with his glasses.

They suited him, she decided hazily. Perhaps even better than the contacts.

"Please." It was surreal, actually, that they were both sitting here after...what had happened as if she was simply suffering from a bad cold. "Wait...warm milk?" That was comforting too, and she'd had enough tea today really,

"You are rather." Arvia agreed, leaning over and prodding a rather prominant one on Gale's slower arm. "Broken arm as a child, when I was rather young. It was enough to stop me doing anything silly again, I'm not a fan of pain. How'd you get that one?"

"Will do," he said as he slunk off his perch on the armchair. He marked his page in the book and left it behind on his chair, giving a mighty yawn and a quick stretch before going for the teacup on the nightstand. With it in his hand, he walked over to his closet with the purpose of searching for a teeshirt and a pair of boxers that Ivie could throw on. He didn't wanna look through her clothes, after all!

But when that door swung open...

Nye had more clothes than any grown woman could ever dream of. There was a multitude of colors and designs and styles, and to think that he settled for a pair of jeans and a turtleneck! Though it would take any normal human being a while to find something in there, Nye pulled out a long tee and a pair of shorts from one of the drawers and tossed it onto the bed. "Here, put that on while I'm getting the milk, if you can."

He really was trying his best not to mention anything as he shut the door behind himself and went for the kitchen.

"Ouch," he commented, knowing the pain of a broken arm. "Tha'?" He even had to think about where he got that scar. His face scrunched up in deep thought, trying to recall what had happened to cause such a gruesome looking mark on his skin.

"Fell 'own a rocky slo'e, go' a few more on m' legs from tha' one. Wha' did y'do t' break your arm?"

Nye owned more clothing than Ivie ever had. In her entire life. Now that was a little sad really, but her parents hadn't exactly been the indulgent type and she'd never really had enough money to treat herself. So Nye's walk-in robe was something of a novelty to her. As he rummaged through it, Ivie tried to peer around him, curious to know just why a man would need so many clothes. She didn't.

Nodding as the eyed the clothes lying on top of her, Ivie waited until the door shut after Nye before she even tried to pick the clothing up. Obviously Nye had neglected to consider underware into the equation, possibly a good thing since he...shouldn't be thinking about her underware, so she simply slipped the short on. The t-shirt was more of a challenge; She had to raise her arms to shimmy the material on, and it was the raising that was the problem. It took a minute or two of struggling before she got it on, after which she flopped back onto the pillows and shut her eyes. Gods. That was far too much effort. Not bothering to sit up again, she bundled the towels out from the bed and set one under her still damp hair, before rolling her back to the door and starting at the carpet.

She was feeling slightly ashamed of her self now, not so much that she'd attempted but more that she'd put Nye out like this. Gods, she was a horrible person.

Arvia had to roll her eyes. Trust Gale to fall down a slope, it was so, typically him. Being Arvia, she hadn't fallen down anything really since a young age. It was the elegant card, after all.

"Fell off a horse." Now didn't that sound typically rich girl. "I love to ride. I still do when I get the chance but I make sure to hang on these days."

A chuckle. "When did you pick up snowboarding?" She'd stopped counting the questions.

Nye was back from the kitchen in less than a jiffy, opening the door slowly with his free hand and asking to make sure she was decent before walking in and setting the milk down on the nightstand. It felt like the prior events were distant and nightmareish.

"How're you feeling?" he asked automatically before returning to the comfort of his armchair. He sat there for maybe ten seconds before getting up again and heading for his bathroom. "We should dry your hair, you'll get a fever if we don't."

That, and sleeping with wet hair? Hairdresser's nightmare.

He could see Arvia on a horse, but not... today. Maybe back in some victorian era with elegant dresses and all that good stuff.

"When I was a teenage'. When di' you?"
    They were keeping count?

There was a moment of silence as Ivie reached out for her warm milk, cradelling it between both her palms and taking a long sip. Tea was nice but nothing beat milk when one was feeling stressed and run down, and the warmth felt good between her fingers. "...alright." She said vaguely, not mentioning the ache in her body or her mind. Mentally she felt absolutely horrible and broken. It would pass but for now, Ivie was a very delicate creature.

"Oh, I can do it - " Ivie went to get up by Nye had already vanished into the bathroom and returned with his hair-dressing goods. She glanced at the powerpoint, the lack of room beside the bed, before ever so slowly scooting forward on the mattress to open up a space behind her for Nye to sit. She gave no argument. and just leant her head forward a little for him to do as he pleased.

An elegant dress on a horse in ye old times? Where on earth would Gale get that idea? Well Arvia took part in many riding competitions when she was younger and had only sold her horse the year before, knowing she wouldn't be able to take care of it with University. Yes, slacks and riding jacket and all.

"We used to go to France in the winters when I was a child, my grandparents lived there." Trust Arvia to have wintered in France as a child. "I failed spectacularly at skiing so my Grandfather took me snowboarding. He was a bit of an eccentric."

She could see him now in his neon-coloured ski-suits, beating the local youths at each and every snow-board race. Ah, good times. "Favourite eye colour? On a partner, I mean."

Nye clambered onto the bed without a problem, but was obviously courteous enough to keep as much room as possible between his crossed legs and her back. The dryer was plugged into the socket next to his bed, a brush was whipped out, and it began.

With Ivie's curls, there was more effort put into the rhythmic brushstrokes and the drying, starting from the roots and slowly going town to the tips of her hair (which, Nye noticed, needed a slight trim). That was one good thing about having a hairdresser as a friend- free treatment, anytime. Nye was happy to just sit there and dry her down, she seemed like she needed it.

And he recalled her liking a good brush through.

"France? Can' say I've been," he said in his best uppity tone. Which, with his strange accent, was hard to pull off. "'M more of a S'ain kin'a guy."

A low chuckle escaped his throat as he thought about his mother and her dream-trip to Italy. He hoped to help her get that, someday. It wasn't easy with his brothers, after all. "Somethin' ligh'. Green or blue. You' bi'est pe' peeve?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:40 am

Over the last turbulent week, Ivie had forgotton just how good Nye was good at brushing hair. It must have come with being a hairdresser, this exceptional skill in brushing hair (who'd of thought) and while Ivie was a little antsy at him sitting so close to her, she felt herself relaxing with every stroke. Yes, it was a pet love. It just was so soothing to just sit here and shut her hair and pretend that nothing in the past weeks had ever happened. Just her and the brush.

Her head dropped back a little, content for the first time in a while and she crooned quietly.

"I hear spain's a little dry." Arvia retorted, purposefully cultvating her voice to match Gale's attempt at upper-class speech patterns. She pulled it off perfectly. Typical.

"Biggest Pet Peeve...mm...picking your nose?" Arvia giggled. "Nono, hm...it would have to be people who talk about themselves all the time rather than actually having a conversation. You know the type. You?"

Yes, she was being lazy in her question asking right now.

Nye had wonderful skills with a brush, among other things. It made up for his lack of cooking skills, for sure! As he sat there and kept working with the dryer in his injured wrist and the brush in his good one, he relaxed a little bit as well. Soon enough her hair was dry and silky from the expert treatment, but even though the dryer went away, he kept brushing it.

At first, he had an entire lecture ready for her about how awful it was to just end something like that, but then... he got tired of thinking. All Ivie needed now was help and comfort and to feel at home. Nye was willing to go to rather lengthy extents to let her reach that comfort zone.

Well. Just because she had that tone practiced didn't mean anything. He was a better country boy. So hah!

He didn't quite mind answering lazy questions.
"Hmm... when 'eople try t' lec'ure abou' somethin' they don' know."

His younger brothers were notorious for that. Most annoying thing in the history of ever.

"Wh-- ah, I thin' it's dinner'ime," he said, actually sounding a bit disappointed.
