Is that so? Hmm...

He pondered for a moment, and then realized that this place would be a good area to test his abilities, without relying on much more electrical power than a charge and the influence of magnetism. In short, an opportunity to fight physically instead of mentally.

Well, if we must, we must. What do you call yourself?
PostPosted: Fri Sep 16, 2005 10:28 pm

My name is Ryugi. Ryugi Kazmaru.

Ryugi cracked his neck and unshiethed his sword. It was very strange and quite possibly a shocking thing to see. The sword was about three and a half feet long, and about four inches wide at its widest point. That, and the metal was covered in rust. If one looked carefully, they might even notice that the blade seemed to wiggle just a bit in the handle. But if Ryugi was concerned, he didn't show it.

Whats yours?

Ryugi began readying himself...

My name is Ferrex Valkova Ephemeron. But, please, since we're going to become quite familiar, you can call me Ferrex.

He smiled and put his hand out to the side, whereupon a single electric bolt contacted the "floor," and after the light faded, the Ranseur de la Tormenta was stabbed into the ground about 2 inches deep. He retreived it, and held it comfortably at his side.

Well then, I suppose we should begin then? I have much better things to do than to remain HERE all day.

Very well then...

Ryugi took a single step back and spun his sword around so it rested up against his right forearm, blade pointed towards his elbow. His single dragon wing on his right shoulder unfurled and snapped out to its full length, a large six feet. He then brought his left hand and arm around in front of himself, hand open, palm facing Ferrex.

His eyes were two twin red orbs of concentration, his mouth hidden behind his white flowing scarf, which blew out to the right and forward in the slight breeze. Ryugi was ready...

In a flash of light, the void changed into a perfect version of an abandoned run-down city, the streets awash with debris. The two fighters stood on either side of the city square, with the ruins of something between them...

Your move...

Hmm hmm hmm... Don't expect an easy checkmate...

He cracked a slight smile and took a slight bow of respect, and jumped backwards before hiding the rear tip of his weapon under his cape and making a few quick motions with his hands, as well as a quick tap to his left side.

All ready.
Did you remember to eat a good breakfast?
Niru, unless it's an emergency, leave this one to me. I don't know anything about this Ryugi, and I don't want you getting hurt.

He picked up his weapon, and took a defensive stance, his arm out, the palm of his hand facing Ryugi, and his fingers spread.

Your move, now...

Seeing his opponent took no actions, Ryugi took the moment to react. He flapped his single wing, hard, once. It gave him enough force to send him speeding forewards at his maximum running speed of about 15-16 miles per hour. Not track star material, but still a decent clip.

He then jumped into the air, using the debris separating the fighters as a springboard launching him nearly 10 feet into the air, and spun into a single frontflip to position his body and weapon into a powerful overhead slash, his wing trailing slightly behind against his right side to lower drag.

If this hit, it would be a powerful stunning blow with the combined forces of gravity, Ryugi's spin, and the weight of Ryugi's body.

Lets see how he takes this...

He was surprised at the apparently burgeoning strength of his opponent, and took a quick jump backward before jumping up vertically into the air, grabbing onto a jutting pole on a building and swinging himself around for a moment, then springing off downward, now heading for the same position as Ryugi, but having calculated his jump carefully.

Fancy indeed, but life isn't all show.

He began falling, and smiled as he saw the precision of his calculations, seeing that Ryugi was about to contact the ground, knowing that he was about to fall soon after him, and only slightly above him.

Ryugi saw his opponent jump up, spin around, and move in above him. With the rate they were moving, it looked like Ryugi would have about two seconds to react before Ferrex was to impale him. Plenty of time. What Ferrex failed to realize was that, unlike math problems and complex formulas, individuals in fights were never solid unchanging answers.

Ryugi, seeing his attack was a very large miss, changed around completely. His right hand held onto his sword, and moved it to the blade rest along his right forearm. He then brought his forearm against his side, so the blade was straight up and down along with his torso.

His left hand then snapped out in front of him, the elbow bent just slightly to absorb the force of what was to come, and his wing opened just enough to catch air and cause a slowing of his right side like a tiny parachute. As a result, Ryugi's body spun to the left in a clockwise spin moments before hitting the ground.

As his body hit ground, his left palm caught his rolling body and he fell onto his left side, rolling a good five to six feet away from where he had landed. The entire manuever took about a second as he hit ground. Then, within the two seconds he had left until Ferrex hit ground, Ryugi jumped to his feet, turned to face the falling man, and prepared to dash in once his opponent was stunned from landing...

He's better than I expected... Good, this should be fun...

Ferrex had not expected this at all, and knew he had to think quickly. While he couldn't react, he could still prepare, and so he did. As he fell, he quickly bent his torso forward, throwing his weapon a slight distance away behind him, away from Ryugi, and used that momentum to continue turning his body, his feet once again being the closest thing to the ground, but not at a correct angle to jump back and away, and so when he "jumped" upon impact, his feet basically slid out from under him, causing him to fall flat on his back. He knew that he had only moments to recover, and so slowly began to rise from the ground, to meet the undesirable fate.

Ryugi stood and saw his opponent hit ground. He then prepared for the one thing Ferrex would never expect...

He did nothing.

He simply stood there and grinned behind his scarf, sword in hand. Ryugi wasn't going to just dash in and disembowel the man. No. He remembered a fight where he himself had been worried at the beginning of a fight, and made mistakes. And he was going to do the same thing to the man that lay on the ground five to six feet away from him.

That looked quite painful. Now, go ahead and gather your weapon. Then we'll try this again. A little differently this time perhaps.

The grin behind Ryugi's scarf was a friendly one as he watched, prepared, and awaited a reply from the recovering man.

Ferrex seemed to stare at the man in front of him with a look of disbelief, but then slowly turned to a respectful smile and a nod.

Ehh... Thank you... I'll try to be quick.

He could feel the embarassment welling up as he slowly made his way over to his weapon, which lay dusty on the ground until he lifted it, and the dust seemed to float off and to the ground. As he took a moment to crack his back and stratch his legs a little, he struck a diffent pose, this time with his weapon in hand as he stood in a less offensive pose.

Be careful!! sad
I'm alright, Niru. Now, please. Go and sit somewhere safe.
Okay, Ferr...

The small creature slowly floated up and took a seat on a slab of concrete about 10 feet away from the two fighters.

Ryugi stretched himself out a bit, and then struck the same pose as before. Wing out, left hand foreward, sword back in his right hand, wind catching his trademark white scarf. He was ready to start the fight again...

Alright, your move this time...

His calm determined expression took over his face once more as he awaited and prepared, taking a deep breath...

Go for it! The little fairy shouted with an enthusiastic shake of her arm.

Upon hearing his opponent's words, he began to dash forward at his full running speed, and then jumped up slightly, basically flying straight forward, and his eyes flashed yellow for a moment before a small crackle was sighted on his palm, and the ranseur began to spin quickly in front of him like a metallic circle perpendicular to the length of his body, without him physically grasping it, and then he landed and continued running, simply using his hands for balance as he ran, the weapon still spinning with great speed as he closed the distance between he and Ryugi.

Ryugi removed and tied his scarf around his waist while he waited and ran through his options of how to attack his opponent before picking one, and readying. Just as it seemed Ferrex was about to hit him, Ryugi stepped off to his right side, avoiding the spear completely, however, he was also missing his opponent for the most part...

As he passed the spinning spear, Ryugi kept moving to the side and around to the back of his opponent, Ferrex's momentum continuing to move him foreward at a speedy rate. Ryugi then noticed Ferrex's lovely cape billowing behind him as he ran. What a glorious piece of equipment to show the pride and nobility of the fighter who wore it. However, it was a burden if not watched carefully.

Ryugi's free left hand reached out and grabbed the billowing garment, yanking it towards his body with a short spin. This force would hopefully send a powerful shock to Ferrex's upper body, causing him to fall backwards since his legs were going one way, and his torso and neck, another.

But Ryugi wasn't finished. The yank would force Ferrex back into a fall, and after the spin, Ryugi would let go, still spinning around as he moved behind his opponent.

The result of this combo would hopefully work like this. As Ferrex fell backwards due to the pull, Ryugi's spinning form would turn his body to face the falling man. Ryugi's right hand, which carried his rusted sword, would then still be in motion and aim a horizontal blow towards Ferrex's neck. Not to cut or injure mind you, but to finish the spin with the sword aimed at Ferrex's throat, a classic signal that things are getting dangerous.

Once again, so it seemed, even basic fighting proved to be pointless. As he felt the pull on his scarf, he knew he was once again in real trouble. But, this time, Ryugi had been the one to believe that he had it made.

When Ryugi pulled his scarf, and caused him to fall backwards, Ferrex used the little bit of time that he had to his advantage, and altered the spin of his weapon, unleashing the hidden weapon within it: A launcher of small, metallic spheres.

As he began to fall, he had the weapon change to spinning parallel to the width of his body, and as the butt end of the weapon passed toward his opponent, a total of about 3 times in the short period, it fired one ball per pass, sending 3 projectiles heading in his direction.

Now, that still left the matter of the falling part. However, contradictory to Ryugi's belief, the amount of momentum that Ferrex had built up from his running was a bit more than would be easily stopped by the grabbing of his cape. In fact, this would either result in the cape slipping right out of Ryugi's hands, or, if the small moon clip on his cape held, the breaking of Ferrex's neck. In this case, however, the cape held fast for a moment, putting a rather uncomfortable jerk on Ferrex's neck, but then the clip broke at the point at which it held the ends together, sending Ferrex forward again, but with a slower speed.

This did not, however, come without consequence. His momentum was now offset, as well as his balance, and as a result, he fell on the ground on his side, rolled and bumped across the ground for a few feet, and then lied still, slowly rising again, his weapon impaled into the ground five feet to his left.
