Allow me to say this. To quote Cole Porter's lead female role in Kiss Me Kate, isn't her name just fitting? Well, Kate is the character that the female lead (Lilli Vanessi) is playing in the play she's doing with her ex-husband where he's all, come back to me Lilli, I can change, and she's all, I want my texan, and it's actually kinda entertaining, but I happen to like Cole Porter, anyway.... It's supposed to be a theater group doing a rendition of Taming of the Shrew, and this is at the part where we get to....erm....know Katherine a bit better. Kate I hate men. I can't abide 'em even now and then. Than ever marry one of them, I'd rest a maiden rather, For husbands are a boring lot and only give you bother. Of course, I'm awfully glad that Mother had to marry Father, But I hate men. Of all the types I've ever met within our democracy, I hate most the athlete with his manner bold and brassy, He may have hair upon his chest but, sister, so has Lassie. Oh, I hate men! I hate men. They should be kept like piggies in a pen. Avoid the trav'ling salesman though a tempting Tom he may be, For on your wedding night he may be off to far Araby, While he's away in Mandalay it's thee who have the baby, Oh I hate men. If thou shouldst wed a businessman, be wary, oh, be wary. He'll tell you he's detained in town on business necessary, His bus'ness is the bus'ness with his pretty secretary, Oh I hate men! I hate men Though roosters they, I will not play the hen. If you espouse an older man through girlish optimism, He'll always stay at home at night and make no criticism, Though you may call it love, the doctors call it rheumatism. You know, he said, "I'm worried that if I get her pregnant, she won't have an abortion because she's different." Different. Yes, this could mean a number of things. Lemme just let you know what different means in this sense. Different than the "me" that he was dating, a doormat who despite being prolife would have done anything to keep him happy. I think. I'm pretty sure he could've gotten me to. Which ashames me. The me I am now, he could never do that. But who I was then, I'm almost completely positive he could have. The fact that he's concerned she won't get an abortion is sickening. That's not right, and I hate it that so many...gah. The moral of this story is that it's much easier to be lesbian. This is putting me in a bad mood. GRRRRR. So....how's your week been? xd
