Smell Blindness is the name for the condition in which a person cannot smell. Now luckily, I miraculously get brief periods once in a blue moon where I can actually smell (the last one was a month ago - and the smell was a skunk burning_eyes ), but they leave quickly, so basically if there's a gas leak, I wouldn't be able to tell.

Jovey, have you considered therapy to maybe help with your lack of sense of smell? Obviously the nerves are there, they just seem to be disconnected from the brain most of the time. Cranial sacral therapy might be able to help improve the times that you can actually smell things.

O.o I've always felt that it was somethin' special of mine actually. For one, I don't gag when someone rips one in the elevator *if you'll pardon my "street-talk" But yeah, being able to smell now and then is like a fun occasion - being able to smell all the time wouldn't be quite as exciting, you know?
