Elros smiled faintly and held Lin so that she could see better. "A hummingbird," he replied softly, his face back to its normal expressionlessness. "A creature of beauty ..."

Then he smiled, his face softening again. "My Lady, it is quite safe for you to show yourself. There is nothing here for you to fear."

Elrohir sat back in his chair and said nothing, deeming it safer for him to keep silent. His expression, however, was worried, and he clasped his hands tightly in his lap.

"It's so pretty," Lin grinned.

If she realized how frightened Serenity was, she didn't show it. Probably because to her there was nothing to be afraid of, no one was yelling and everyone was just waiting on Serenity to turn back. It was not like anyone was really upset for anything.

"Nothing overly that much," Cindy replied softly back at Donovan, "She was just in shock and then became quite frightened, it was a reaction to a startlingly circumstance."

She continued to stroke Serenity, trying to get the woman to turn back to her original form. Though Cindy didn't know what really set Serenity off, she had a few good guesses. She of course had heard about Elrohir, and knew of the stories of how he was like before.

Despite being still afraid, Serenity was encouraged by the fact no one was freaking out, that no one was yelling or screaming, or trying to get rid of her. More than anything, however, it was Cindy's finger that was calming her - she was after all in a bird's body, and had some of its instincts.

Finally, she got up the courage to buzz to the floor, where she reverted to her original form and pressed herself against the wall as far away from everyone else as she could get.

Her eyes were back to normal now, but they were still filled with fear as she gazed across the room at Elrohir. She said nothing, though - she could think of nothing to say. Just looking at him, she was struck suddenly by how different he was now from what he had once been.

Elrohir gazed at his mother sadly, though he knew that he probably deserved this.

"It's all right, Mother," he said softly, reaching one hand out to her again.

He didn't know what else to say. What was there to say? He hadn't seen her in thirty eight years, after all.

"Maybe you should hug her," Lin suggested a matter of factly.

It was a common like that, that reminded Donovan that she was as much like Kara as she was of him. He would haven ever suggested in a million years to hug someone, and yet there was a small logic in that.

From a child's standpoint it was perfectly logical, from a Kara's standpoint even more so.

He finally sighed and looked at Serenity, he knew she had been afraid with Ruel, but Ruel had proven to be the biggest bigot he had ever met. Elrohir was at least redeemable and as the man had proven at least open minded when facts were laid out.

Awkward as Elrohir knew it would be, he couldn't help but agree with Lin - and yet he couldn't bring himself to move. He didn't want to appear threatening - which, apparently, he was - or that he would hug her just for the sake of a child having said it.

He also wanted to see if she would trust him, first.

Yet what if she took his immobility as reluctance, not wanting to actually see her, and only feigning acceptance?

He stood hesitantly but stopped as he saw his mother flinch away.

Elros shifted Lin to his other arm and moved swiftly around Cindy to where Serenity was standing. Before she could move, he put one hand on her shoulder and gazed down at her, his cold blue eyes looking directly into hers.

"You have nothing to fear," he told her, perhaps a little more roughly than he meant to - but he was of the opinion that nothing less than that would bring her into some sense of action.

He was right. Serenity shook her head, clearing away the remainder of her shock, and looked at Elrohir with eyes clearer than they had been since she had first been told of his presence.

All she could think of to say as she looked at him was, "You're different ..."

"Is he different" Lin asked, "He's less grumpy and more happy if that's what you mean," she smiled down on Serenity.

The Lin looked up and pouted slightly even though she knew that Serenity moved away when he moved closer. She looked down at Serenity again.

"You should hug him, otherwise he's going to be sad."

Serenity smiled at Lin and nodded. "Yes ... that is what I mean, I think ... or something like it ..."

She took a deep breath and looked at Elrohir. "But ... still ... I'm not so certain ... that a hug ..."

"Don't be daft, Mother," Elrohir blurted out, starting around the bed. "By the Valar, it's been nearly forty years ... I've been hoping to see you!" And he moved over to her quickly and threw his arms around her and pulled her close. She was small compared to him, more than a foot shorter than he was, and he made sure not to crush her.

Donovan chuckled and looked at Lin, it was an interesting way of Lin trying to offer advice, "I don't know how you and your mother does it," he told Lin, "But it always works."

Still, it was good to see those two now being able to connect like that and Haradhel was going to be thrilled.

Serenity hugged her son, honestly surprised by his reaction, and looked around the room at the others for the first time since regaining her senses.

"Donovan ... Triton ... Cindy ... Lin ... hello again," she said softly, some of her colour returning to her cheeks.

Her eyes rested on Elros. "And now you know, sir, why people believe that I'm a demon, and why I prefer to keep to myself."

Elros shook his head slowly, but his eyes were sad, not angry. "My Lady," he said softly, "none who has ever fought a true demon would ever suggest that you are one of their kind."

He shook his head again. "That's the trouble with the races these days ... they fight over such ridiculous things, like trying to prove who is the strongest ... what they should be fighting for, if there is fighting to be done, is to rid Arda of the demons once and for all."

Elrohir smiled down at Serenity. "This is one place where you never have to worry, Mother," he told her cheerfully. "No one here would ever try to make you leave, or ridicule you, or fear you. Here, the people are good ... I know I was once one of the worst of men, but my eyes have been opened."

Suddenly Haradhel appeared in the doorway, and peered in and looked around curiously.

"What's going on?" she asked in confusion, her eyes still slightly clouded with sleep. She blinked at Serenity until her eyes cleared, then cocked her head and said, "Elrohir ... there had better be a good reason why you've got another woman in your arms ... in our own house, no less ..."
