TeaDidikai BlueRoseTorn I knew people went apeshit with fireworks out here on the Fourth, but OH MY ******** GOD IT WAS LIKE 'NAM. gonk Sweetie- you're not even near the Res. You have had a tame 4th. Explosions coming from all directions for six solid hours is tame? Explosions not 100 feet over your apartment building is tame? The idiots who live in your apartment complex setting of fireworks and sparkler bombs five feet away from parked cars...that's tame? I haven't had a good weekend. It was not tame. It was not happy. It was not quiet. Be thankful I'm not outside with a shotgun blowing away every man, woman, and child I see holding a mere sparkler. I cannot wait to freakin' move. [/rant]

Thanks patch.
They sent her home yesterday. It is liver failure; they don't know why, which is what I wanted them to test for. They think it is autoimmune disease. I wanted them to rule out other causes, in case it was something treatable. They told her that she'll need a liver transplant "down the road". I'm sad, because she's not going to get better, and she's miserable. I love her so much. She's been my best friend for so long.
Because she was in the hospital we were preoccupied and didn't get doggy valium for her poor neurotic Australian kelpie (herding breed dog, not the scary equine water demon, lol), and she tried to sleep on my dad's face during the fireworks.
My dog just sleeps through them as if nothing's happening.

Nuri Bacodus Goddammit! Who spent money out of the guild treasury? I had it rounded off to a nice 90k. New subforum for the podcasters smile You have to spend guild money to start subforums? I guess that keeps people for making them "just for the hell of it".

The neighbors across from Robin's spent about a thousand dollars on illegal fireworks.

Well, I had a pretty fun Fourth of July. My family and I went south to Oklahoma to visit the bulk of my family that lives around there. A whole bunch of us stayed at my Grammy's for a few days, and we set off fireworks on the Fourth. It's always a big affair with my family. My twin uncles go off and buy at least $200 worth of explosives, which we set off from Grammy's driveway. Aunts and uncles sat in lawn chairs while me and a whole mess of my cousins sat in Grampa's truck and watched my Uncle Sam (That's his name, I kid you not.) and some of the younger cousins set off all the assorted fireworks. I was amused to note that the most enthusiastic fireworks lighter was my little four-year-old cousin. She kept demanding to be allowed to light the bigger ones. xd
Of course, there were the little downers that always accompany family reunions: screaming younger relatives, that one creepy cousin, etc. Still, overall I had a pretty good time cheering, eating fried chicken, and feeling stereotypically Southern. 3nodding
We'll be flying back home tomorrow. It's kind of too bad. I was just getting used to the whole feel of things here.

I was over at my best friend's house by three pm on the fourth and we were playing with fireworks until about ten o'clock when we went to see the fireworks at the Base Lake. Didn't get home until nearly midnight on the fifth after seeing a Shakespeare on the Green performance of Much Ado About Nothing, fell into bed, woke up at ten am, showered, ate, packed a picnic cooler, and was picked up by my best friend to see the Shakespeare on the Green performance of King Lear.
It's been a good couple of days. biggrin
