My hardest weapon from the top of my head is a lascannon. Or maybe a Hellstrike missile, can't remember which of the two is the hardest puncher. But other than that, my army lacks anything really painful. A Punisher cannon is not a hard hitting weapon when you boil it down to the basics. The most numerous weapon in my army still is the humble lasgun, closely followed by the multi-laser I think. Other weapons more commonly found in Guard armies are quite rare in mine, like say heavy bolters and the such.
I tend to prefer multi-lasers to heavy bolters anyway. Strength over AP 4 or worse, any day. Never under-estimate a wall of S3-S7 rapid fire weapons!
Quick review shows that my army has..

Four veteran squads with lasguns (one whole squad with shotguns however) and various specials such as sniper rifles, meltas and the odd grenade launcher.

Three Valkyries with a multi-laser and rocket pods. Two Valkyries with lascannons and Hellstrike missiles. Two Vultures, one with Punisher cannons, the other with rocket pods and lascannons. Topping things off, an Atlas with heavy bolter and Hellstrike missiles.

There's also a few ground units, including three Sentinels with heavy bolters, one with a m-melta, two Tauros with grenade launchers, one Venator with tl-multis and a pair of HK missiles and a Venator with tl-lascannons.

That's it really. I was toying with the idea of squeezing in a Lightning, but that would probably see me stabbed to death for being too evil.

That's actually quite a lot of dakka in my opinion, especially in the anti-armor department, lots of lascannons, melta, and missiles.

What exactly is an Atlas? First I've heard the name.

Whoops, Atlas is the name of the bird, the official name is Valkyrie Sky Talon.

Nice, so vehicle dropship.

Also, question to pose. Is there a system to the names of regiments, such as Rifles or Sabres?

It differs from regiment to regiment. Infantry formations can be called anything ranging from infantry to rifles and guard. Sabres is mostly applied to cavalry along with lancers and to use a really classy term, hussars. Then again, a fair few cavalry terms can also be applied to armoured formations.

Hussars, aye? I like that, for light cavalry or mechanized infantry.

Dragoons would be a better application for mechanized infantry if you were to get a**l about things. There was a world that created dragoons exclusively, but the name eludes me. Doura or something, they were featured in a novel and in a White Dwarf article.

And that's why I married John: He cooks, doesn't cuddle, but can kill with his bare hands. emotion_bigheart

Its an inside joke, theres another forum he frequents a lot where they found out about his Elysians, leading to a horde of peeps constantly PMing him about the status of his army and for how much he'd sell it to them. More than once he had to ask the mods to suspend some of these people for their constant pestering. emotion_awesome
