@Nightz: Godlike, yes...God, no. As Deity said, if one religion conflicts with another, they are completely null. That's why he is an atheist in real life....just because one religion says that if you don't trust in its giant invisible person you'll go to a giant, awful imaginary place, that doesn't mean that another religion saying th'same s**t is any less true.

Someone [Typhoon] asked "what is a soul?" I thought that this may clear things up and we could maybe decide the best definition that fits a roleplay, then continue from there.
Edit: By the way, What would you like for me to PM you, just a random little post, or a character, or a link to something...

Dr.Nightz It's a good point, but if a soul is that kind of thing, then how can it be eaten? If it was gone, then it would just be made anew by the connection that still exists. However, it IS different from that, because a soul, is based on faith. Like God. If God was proven to exist, then He would cease to exist, because He is reliant on faith. That's why Creationism is no nutty, they don't have to prove anything.
Creationism is interesting in that, they don't have to prove anything - it's there. Yet, it leaves much wanting, and has flaws in it's logic. Especially with theories of the beginning of time such as "The Big Bang Theory" - if in fact it existed, what created the matter which was compressed to make the initial explosion?
Granted, that could be explained by saying that God and religion is just a convenient truth to explain away the unknown on that very issue, but I personally believe there's much truth to Science, and truth to the basic concept of religion - although some matters of religion are merely laws and, at times, ignorant writings to keep a given people in power.
But, in a roleplay, how do we know what a "Soul Reaver" considers to be a soul, isn't your concious mind which they, for whatever reason, are able to tap into and "destroy" or.. consume, even? How being besides the point, the fact they believe it's eating a soul doesn't mean they aren't doing something to it's effect. I believe souls do exist, though exactly what they are comprised of is something I couldn't speculate on; to just say "THEY A GHOOOST" seems far-fetched to me, but then again, I've many theories on such matters.
...Juuuust my opinion, though.

Deity nullfies powers that only hold true to certain religions...for instance, if a sword is powered by God, it becomes a normal sword, because ::twitch:: there's nothing concrete to power it. Religion in an RP as large as GaiaOnline doesn't make any sense...especially when you have eighty thousand different people worshipping three thousand different holy or unholy entities that s'posedly created everything. No, they didn't...
Souls, magic, certain types of energy, and things like that are fine by Deity, because they don't conflict directly with anyone's stories.

However, I don't believe that's sufficient. For example: I can whip out a weapon IC and attack you with it.. and if you had a religion that believed such a weapon did not exist, it'd suddenly not harm you?
I take all things blessed by any religion or "empowered" by them IC as real; same with characters such as Angels and such. Even if my character doesn't believe them to actually be an Angel of God, or a weapon of Bhudda, or what have you - he still needs to acknowledge that that man there has wings, and that the weapon has great power of some kind and can hurt him, or he's just a dillusional fool, and will be killed.

There are no words deep enough to show how much I agree with ye'. In any case! About the quote: Something I've always wondered is: Once someone has created a fictional character, does that not make the character 'Real', in some sense? Meaning, although, true, Angels do not exist- Once I make a character OF an Angel, he exists. ESPECIALLY in the same realm he was created- in fiction. Thus, an Atheistic character in a fictional world is blinded, due to the fact that in that world, The angel exists. And will now proceed to blow him up, smite him, what have you.

Belief doesn't make something any more or less real, and science can change constantly. What is fact can change as well.
But for roleplaying's sake, just because your character doesn't acknowledge the other's ability's properties, doesn't mean they do absolutely nothing, because for all you know, they have a true definition.

Also, in some beleifs, a Soul is merely a word for your personality and emotions. If someone were to 'eat your soul', You'd have none. [By their thinking.]
