So now the two of them were moving together, so close. Dari peered into Cody's eyes and his smile wouldn't leave his face. His hands lay on his lover's waist and even Cody seemed to be moving more smoothly now.

This dancing thing was getting easier, it seemed. Cody was moving in time with Dari now. He smiled when his eyes met Dari's. "Do you believe in magic?" he asked. Call it fate, God, aliens, luck, what have you, something had brought them together.

Dari briefly laughed at the absurdity of this situation. Did he believe in magic? Well he believed in his ring at the very least! He had seen people healed, transformed, altered, startled, cursed, even harmed by magic!
"I do!" he said. Whatever you wanted to call it, magic was real.

Cody paused when Dari laughed, but only briefly. His initial concern was that Dari was teasing him; but then the guy seemed to laugh at any number of things. Intimate things included. "Good," he said, reaching to stroke Dari's hair. "Our love's magical."

"It may very well be," Dari replied, then leaned in for a kiss before Cody could ask for clarification. Even if it had been jump-started by magic, though, it was real and true now. He had no doubt of that. He had never enchanted anyone into this.
It seemed almost as if there was no one here but the two of them, although Dari could hear them all. This was why he had wanted a lover to bring. In groups, it would be harder, but he didn't know if Cody would ever come for more than drinks and 'chilling out' with a whole group. Maybe some day!

Well. Dari had certainly responded well to that line; Cody had thought it was fairly cheesy, until he used it. It was true, though. Their love was perfect and unique and wonderful. "I love you," he said, happily.

"I love you too," Dari said, and kissed Cody again. The music changed to something slower, still dance music but something allowing for the pair to just sway together, eye locked, so close nose-to-nose.

Cody was enjoying the dancing, the closeness. He captured Dari's lips in a lingering kiss. "Thank you for bringing me," he said, after it'd ended.

Dari smiled, even knowing it might only be the booze talking.
"Of course. Thank you for coming."

Toby was standing at his closet in his underpants, hands on his hips.
"I don't know, what do you want to wear?" Toby asked. "People go to theaters in jeans and t-shirts all the time, but sometimes it's fun to dress up." Unless, of course, you had to wear a suit and tie to work every day. Then dressing up got less exciting.

They dressed up every day, though. Maia looked into the closet and put a hand to her chin in thought. "Hmmmm..." She selected a pair of he ans and a shirt for Toby, and then a casual dress for her.
"You always look nice. You don't have to worry." She grinned at him. "But you can't go in what you're wearing, you'd steal the show."

Toby was confused for a moment. But he wasn't wearing anything-- a slow grin crossed his face. He chuckled and pulled on the clothes Maia had chosen for him and found himself a pair of socks.
"It's not like the actors can see you anyway." Toby had been to the theater plenty of times, mostly with Dari. In fact, the two of them had gone to see A Midsummer Night's Dream before together. That, aside from high school, was what let Toby know it was the sort of play Maia might like. Nobody died, and everything turned out right in the end.
"Have you read up on the play?" it would have been totally a personal decision if she had.

"I read a bit. It's by Shakespeare, isn't it? He wrote an awful lot of tragedies." But Toby had suggested this one; which probably meant it didn't end badly. "Have you seen it before?"

"It is," Toby said with a nod, "but it's not a tragedy. It's one of his earlier works." He didn't want to call it a 'romantic comedy' for all the misuse of that phrase nowadays.
"Yup. I read it in high school... well I half-read it, and I've seen it with Dari. I think you'll like it. Besides, there's fairies in it. Lori's kind, and then some sprites and flower-kinds. Fun stuff."

Oh good. So it was before the guy had started writing all those things about people dying? "I can't read Shakespeare english," she admitted. "It's even more difficult than modern english."
"It sounds good!" She started to get dressed. "Have you ever met a flower fairy, Toby?"

"It's actually called Early Modern English," Toby said with a laugh, "but don't think I came up with that myself. That's another Dari Fact. It's what came right before what we use now. It's easier to understand when people are acting it, though."
He plopped down on the bed and watched Maia get dressed, which he figured was okay by this point in their relationship.
"I have. People can't hear them in normal conversation, though. They're too small. They have to get right up in your ear and it's a little weird. Everything we've used to amplify hasn't worked very well." He held up a finger. "Except for Dari. Of course he can, because why not? Guy doesn't even have ears..."
