Yeah, we don't have an empty bucket right now, so for my own convenience I usually clean the box right as my beau is leaving for or coming home from work, so he's either going to be heading past the trash cans anyway or still has shoes and outerwear on. I don't like leaving the apartment very often. cat_sweatdrop At least not in winter, it's such a hassle having to wrestle on boots and coats and hat and scarf just for a sixty second jaunt to the trash cans. Plus my key for our outer door gives me troubles. (Pretty sure it's a few copies down from the original, so it takes extra work to get the door unlocked with it; my beau's key (the source of my copy), even in my hands, doesn't put up near so much of a fight.)
Yeahhh, I'm not that lucky when it comes to dropping things. Sometimes I'm not even the one actually dropping the device, a cat has pushed my phone into water on at least one occasion. My beau has been luckier than I have, he just has damaged cases from dropping his phone at work. Though we did have the misfortune of having to replace his previous phone after an unfortunate kayaking incident... We had only been a month from paying it off, at least, but it did require a frantic search for and trip to a Verizon store the day he got home.
I don't trust GameStop's used consoles, either, especially not handheld devices (a friend of mine had to return more than one faulty DS Lite back in the day); and I am 100% that one jerk that INSISTS on seeing a game disc before I commit to paying for a used game. I've gotten too many damaged and unplayable discs to just accept what I'm handed. Like, I'd trust retired rental store consoles and games more than GameStop's used merchandise. Their intake procedures for used items are garbage, which results in them trying to fob off the garbage they fail to filter out to customers, and I simply won't stand for it. I didn't spend all those years helping my mom at an arcade/rental store to not use the knowledge I gained from it.
Order of the owls and owl court both sound familiar, so I'm sure they've been used in comics or cartoons or something somewhere. Maybe one is from DC and one is from Marvel, if they're not both from Batman? I had a bunch of uni friends that were actually part of (semi) secret society, including my beau. It was officially known as an "ornithology club," if I remember correctly, but the actual subject matter they dealt with was supernatural/paranormal phenomena and folklore/legends. They used owls as their symbol. We still have a few owl items from it, like a journal and a decorative statue that used to be perched over my bookshelf. (It's not there anymore, it wasn't exactly a sturdy place for it, and since my cats have free and constant access to that shelf now, we couldn't risk the derps concussing themselves after managing to knock it from the shelf.)

I get that, I don't even have to go far with mine but I sometimes just do not feel like doing the smaller walk of just exit my front door to just take a few steps to beside our house just to toss the bag into the wheelie bin in Winter time here. cat_sweatdrop Honestly testing used anything is a good idea anymore for consoles and video games in many game stores that is Gamestop or like Gamestop. Must be the case cause both feel familiar sounding from media and comics. Ngl I feel the owl is just beloved for images, my older than me niece was in a wiccan group in high school back when I was in Kindergarten that used an owl for their image, & my school groups I was part of that wasn't any sport teams all used an owl for their own icon too. [I've seen owls in armor for scholastic knights, owls in the starry mage attire for science magicians, Winnie the Pooh's owl in glasses for Book Worms Book club, an owl advertised our read books for pizza hut rewards program of the late 90s early 2000s as it was an owl reading a book eating pizza, apparently idk my kindergarten did this even tbh each class had an animal or plant, and my class group was the Owls. You heard my share of finding my family Winter owl hat finally after searching. (at least I believe I shared that when I found it again.) Heck my simplest make a quick kaomoji I like to do is this simple owl of (OvO). So needless to say if anyone is an Owl in/on Hello Kitty Island adventure out of my friend/family group it has to be me. cat_xd

Yes! I'm so glad someone else gets it. I don't even really have to go TOO far, since we're on the first floor and the bins are just alongside our building, but when mornings and evenings can get below 0F in winter here, my motivation to take anything outside is proportional to the temperature. Plus I had the uniquely embarrassing situation just a few days ago where my key refused to work at all; I was stuck outside trying to get it to turn until a neighbor happened to come down the hall to exit the building after a few minutes, just as I was about to the point of walking to the restaurant where my beau works to beg for his key. Which, of course, led to me getting a stare from said neighbor like I was some sort of creep trying to break in for nefarious purposes when I live in the building. (Or maybe he was just confused, or high, or curious; I can't read an expression to save my life, but I certainly felt like I was being judged.) So, yeah, my desire to leave my apartment when no one will be there to let me back in if the door and my key decide to flip me the bird is incredibly low now.
Testing the hardware on intake is literally the least that should be done, in my opinion. I mean, you wouldn't purchase from a private seller without some kind of assurance the item you're buying works since you can't make a return like at store, so why don't businesses have similar processes in place? There's a local-ish chain near me called Bullmoose that I think does test items before putting them out to sell. At the very least, their SNES cartridges and used disc type media haven't let us down yet. We don't shop used media anywhere else but there now since we know we can trust what we buy. (We still always check discs before money changes hands, though. No sense in being negligent when it just takes a few seconds to be cautiously thorough!)
I don't remember owls being used very often when I was in school, oddly enough. I can understand why they might be prevalent, though; it's so easy to get across the idea of "owl" with just a few simple shapes. Like, just a few paper circles and a triangle and you have all you need to assemble an owl on a bulletin board or wall display. Kind of like I remember caterpillars being a popular wall decoration choice in my elementary library because they were just a bunch of circles with a face on one of them. And then owls have the whole "wise" association going for them, which makes them good for any scholastic thing.

Basically my cat today after I cleaned his ear. The long-haired one gets REALLY violent when his ears are cleaned, I had to practically sit on the brat to get him to stay still enough and STILL walked away bloodied. You know, as one does after going unarmed into a fight with an animal that nature granted eighteen tiny daggers on their toes. It hurts to type because he literally impaled my index finger on a claw, it took more work than it should have to pry my flesh free. =w=; I suppose I should just be thankful this is a rare occurrence with him, unlike his brother who winds up with all sorts of weird junk in his ears. I swear to you I once had to flush a piece of kibble from his ear. I still have no idea how he managed to even get kibble in his ear.
