Gaia, Rp here, hell . . . the guilds themselves are not what they used to be. The draw for people like us who write and enjoy the RP scene have less and less reason to stay. Particularly when the site is as Sama-San once said: "Is too commercialized, focused on money."

So true. RP requires time commitments that adults often have trouble making.
The extra time off was much needed, but back to the grindstone...

Oh, the time isn't really that hard to make- it's that this place no longer emphasizes the aspects that RP thrive on. Time, interaction, hell, even cosplay. The guilds have been ignored and abandoned by the staff for years. Every item that comes out seems to be a random item generator. The economy is in shambles, and every aspect of the site seems geared toward only making money. I know some efforts are being made to turn it around, but RP does not seem a priority.
Please don't push yourself too hard, good sir. Don't destroy yourself with overwork.

Very true, the atmosphere on Gaia does have an affect on wanting to RP.
Yeah, this past non-weekend was a blast...

I haven't roleplayed in over a year, if you do not count this place. Online RP has been nearly as scarce as places to do so that are not sex themed are becoming more rare. "oh, you want to RP? Are you into bondage?" No . . . I want to enjoy the fantasy of being somebody else with different abilities. "Like a bigger p***s?" no . . . like a sword.

That's a really sad state of affairs. Perhaps the increased availability & acceptance tabletopping has led to RP drying up?

It is hard to say. Tastes change over time, and the acceptance of RP as a decent pastime has risen with the idea of superhero movies, tech being a respectable field, and all the other nerdy aspects being socially acceptable. My problem is likely that I am a hermit. I don't talk to people and spend the lion's share of my free time at home. I play the handful of video games I own and play on the internet. Neither are very conducive to having a gaming group.
Though it should be said that a guy I played with a little said he was considering beating down the door of a friend we used to visit and play under. I might be considering the same- put together a new game group. who knows. perhaps my riders game will have one more attempt. Who's to say?

A fair point; I'm not particularly social either and find it night unto impossible to bring up interest in nerdy subjects w/ others.
There is something to be said for being forceful; it can jostle others out of their funk. Best of luck in starting tabletopping again.

Ho-man . . . the new Thor Ragnarok trailer gave me the giggles- I may actually go see that one in theaters.

Very much so, and with the leaks of the Infinity War trailer as well, this train ain't stopping anytime soon.
DC on the other hand . . . yeah, they are not doing even a fraction as well as marvel.

On the Marvel front, Marvel vs Capcom 4/Infinite has a mechanic where whatever team of 3 you choose you also choose an infinity stone which affects your stats & combos. Hoping they don't mess it up like they did with Street Fighter 5 (which is still a good game mechanically, just mishandled).
I've seen some hype about the leaked Justice League material; I'm ambivalent.

As I am utter crap at fighting games, I cannot say much for the game. I thought it was sets of two, though . . . Either way, Yeah I am aware of the effects of the infinity gems/stones. Space, for instance, when maxed can severely limit your opponent's area of movement for a short period.

MvC3 upped it to 3 characters per player, and it looks like 4 will be keeping that from what I can tell of the early footage.
I'm mid-skill in fighting games, but I enjoy them. The upcoming Fantasy Strike fighting game is interesting; it significantly trims down the complicated combos to allow for pure strategy to shine through.
