Really enjoying the Open Beta for Gwent. Was part of the Closed Beta, but I never got around to it; they improved the balance a lot from Witcher 3 to make it a good multiplayer experience. The grind w/o using real money (and i doubt i'll ever spend money on this) doesn't seem to be too bad as i already have a respectable deck for 1 of the factions.

I am generally wary of games within games. I did not care for the card game within FF VIII, loathed having to play Blitzball in FF X, and what little I played of Witcher III failed to impress me with Gwent. I did not purchase this game to play ******** cards.
Now that it is independent, I wish goodwill upon it- but shall not play it. I just did not get into the dynamics of it. Not trying to crap on it, but at the same time not what I had hoped for when I attempted to play Witcher III. As my interest in card games both birthed and died with Yu Gi Oh, it does not attract me.

I definitely understand. I don't have any interest in Hearthstone; the only reason I went with Gwent was b/c I like the core mechanic. The collectible element, yeah, not my favorite, but at least the total card pool is known and you can grind to get specific cards instead of relying on randomization. Obviously that doesn't remedy it entirely, as there are now card games that play like collectibles but do away w/ the wallet drain entirely (Sirlin's Codex), but to each their own.

To each their own. I am forced to face the fact that I am evolving into a grumpy old man, out of touch with the majority of the world. Far from a geriatric sour puss of media and story . . . but I don't get the lingo, don't watch popular media, and thus don't get the motivations of the youngest and loudest members of the society in which I live. Card games never interested me other than the earliest stages of YGO, and that was because it was simple and easy. Time and again, I am proven to be just too out of touch.
Gwent did not seem a bad game. I hold no enmity to it, but at the same time have no desire at all to play it. Same with hearthstone, or so many others. I remember rallying against the idea of a Pokemon card game because the point of pokemon was to collect, train, and evolve your monsters. You cannot evolve a card. You can replace it, but you still have the same cards.

I know the feeling. My siblings all being a an average of a decade older than me meant I often felt out of place among my peers. Nowadays I feel out of place simply due to the fact that I link to think & discuss deep topics at length, which nobody seems to want to do anymore. xp

Call it a side effect of the internet age. People (including us) are growing increasingly accustomed to instant gratification. If you have a problem, you take a pill. Don't know an answer, google it. Bored, go to youtube/hulu/netflix/crunchyroll and watch whatever you want instantly. As such, people are not willing to stop and have much at length anymore.
I never had siblings. I've had stepsiblings for a time, and certainly a sea of in-laws . . . but as an only child, I was devoid of the kinds of bonds or disappointments you are talking of.

So true, delayed gratification is such a vital habit/skill, but it is being used far less now.
Yeah, having or not having siblings each have benefits & drawbacks. I definitely want a large family someday, but that's an impossibly long way off.

I am an only child, my wife is the second youngest of 11 (technically 12). She wanted a big family, and I resisted heavily . . . she had to really work me to get a second kid. So? She eventually got her huge family by way of 8 cats and 2 kids. Ugh. I love them all, but so much work!

Yeah . . . I wanted to stop at 4. And yet, they kept coming and needing homes. The fates seem to know that we can't do any more, though. It's been a year and more since the last kitty crossed our paths. we love them, and do as right by them as we can . . . but let's face it. We got a clowder on our hands.

No kidding.
Finally managed to convince my company I was overwhelmed, so they told 1 of my clients to back off a little.

I sincerely hope that helps. You are obviously great at your job- which is a good thing . . . but if you can't take care of yourself, your health will suffer and your quality of work will degrade.

The tabs are practice, old friend. You will learn to slow down in time- or you will run out of things to do quite so fervently. Either way, you will slow.
Getting that itch that maybe it is time to leave Gaia again . . . though I have not been successful at doing so yet. It's not like I have a lot going on here to keep me coming back. It's more habit than anything. Still, I do have this place.

I can't blame you, I find myself coming by only 3-5 times weekly despite intending to check daily. neutral
