So...it was finally over. Professor Dee stared back himself in the mirror, taking a deep breath...and sighing in mixed relief. His old friend assured him that the Church which had threatened Midvale was dealt with, including that horrid Powell woman, though the way Shade had put it left Dee feeling unsure of how finished things were. Stryker was still running around somewhere but...but it was over. Dee could finally let this anger go and try to do his job...and from what he could see of the students, they needed all the help they could get. Wally West's death had impacted everyone...and this was all part of the mourning process, their depression, their sudden degradation in terms of performance and grades...its not like he could just wipe away their memories and act like nothing had happened...one of their own had DIED...not only that, but killed by another student's mother!

Dee rubbed his temples as he stepped out of the bathroom and dropped down into his desk chair...and flicked on the radio, searching around...before smirking at another broadcast of Radio Villain. It'd been awhile since he caught one of their broadcasts...but he recognized their efforts and quietly applauded them. He closed his eyes and leaned back in his seat, trying to let the troubles of the past wash passed him, beginning to nod off during the real estate ad...only to sit up, wide awake when they got to the news about the Midvale Zoo...and the dancing animals.

"The Achey-Breaky Heart...? How...tacky. Why not the Disco Duck, or the Dinosaur...Wait a minute, what am I talking about! This sounds like something I'd....uh oh."

He looked to the radio, desperately wanting more details about this awfully odd little incident...only to get knocked back to his own darkened funk when The Live Wire of the recorded duo began to bring up Wally West again...He felt horrible about the boy, and agreed with the girl's righteous anger that he was properly remembered, but there remained the matter of the Zoo Incident, and as much as she had every right to speak out against the school's response, he'd wished she'd waited until somewhere AFTER that particular bit of news. He grunted as they went to a commercial break, putting his face into his hands and rested them both on his desk, groaning.

Why did this feel like more bad news was heading his way...?

As their lips parted Cassie looked at Chris and smiled..

" Well you have your answer..."

Chris looked at her confused... But Cassie left and walked off.. Images of a land far away filled her mind and gave her headaches none the less Cassie made it back to her dorm room.

*Chris sat there for a full minute before his brain start working again. He blinked.*

I do?

....

Holy crap, do I need a cold shower.

*He hopped in the shower and went to bed that night happier than he had been in days. He thought everything with Cassie would be okay.

The next morning he showered and went to classes. He ignored the cutting remarks whispered behind his back and went about his business. Entering the cafeteria at lunch, he had no idea he was about to have a run in with Wally's Peeps again.*

It was almost noon when Bruce Wayne, along with Emma Frost, Agatha Harkness and Daimon Hellstrom sat down in his office to teleconference with Barry Allen. The four teachers looked somberly at the computer visage of the chemistry professor as Bruce explained Agatha's offer to mind-wipe the students of memories of Wally.

"I feel that we six who are in the know about the real issue here should each have a say, so we should put it up to a vote."

The scene on the screen pulled back, revealing Doctor Strange next to Barry. The Sorcerer nodded.

"I agree. However, there are seven votes...you four, Barry and myself, and Mrs. West, Wally's mother."

Barry vanished for a moment, and then came back with Mary West in tow. The adults started hashing out the discussion. Bruce spoke first.

"I am utterly opposed to the idea of subjecting our students to a mind-wipe. It is a violation of their freedom and only fosters mistrust. What if they find out what we've done? How can we expect them to trust us if we show we're willing to go so far as to destroy their memories without their approval?"

Emma shook her head.

"I disagree, Bruce dear. We know all the facts. We know that the influence of Trigon is still affecting some of the student body, and the little 'demonstration' at the West Gate was probably a byproduct of that. By doing this, we may help to loosen the mystical hold that demon has on these children. We don't need their permission to act in their best interests."

Agatha nodded.

"I agree. These are great powers we are proposing to use, and none of us take it lightly. But we are here to ensure that the next generation of heroes are protected during their formative years, and for that I would do anything to stop the advance of Trigon."

Daimon crossed his arms.

"Well, the more I've thought about it, the more I am inclined to say that it isn't a good idea. We already have Satana and perhaps other outside forces looking in on us. We need to find an alternate solution to the problem before one of them thinks of a way to use this demonic energy in the school to their advantage. A mind-wipe is a band-aid over the real problem."

Two votes for, two against. The teachers at the school looked at Doctor Strange.

"I am opposed to it. We have students of vastly differing powersets in the school, and no spell can be tailored 'one size fits all.' Some of our students are not human. Some are descended from Gods, or from other planets. We act in haste in this, and we can cause more damage than good."

Barry swallowed.

"I think it should be done."

That was all he said. Three votes for, three against. It came down to Mary West, who looked tired.

"You're asking me to decide whether this entire school forgets my son? All of his friends and teachers? And you think that if this is done, that everyone will be safe?"

Bruce shook his head.

"We can't guarantee that, Mary. All we can say is that, if it works, it may buy us some time to take care of the real problem, without the distraction that Wally's stabbing has caused on campus."

She laughed bitterly.

"A distraction."

"I'm sorry. Poor choice of words."

"It's all right. My son was never very popular at home in Blue Valley. He looked up to his heroes because they let him escape a bit, I think. And when he became one, it was like a dream come true for him. He loves that school and everyone in it. His dream has always been to be popular and loved...but more than that, he would want everyone to be safe.

I give my permission."

The following note was found on Cassandra's dorm door;

**translated from Ancient Greek**

"Dearest sister,

"I wanted to leave this note instead of directly informing you that I am taking a brief leave from the school. With the express permission from the Headmaster Wayne and Princess Diana, I am embarking on a personal soul journey, something perhaps you have heard of on your studies of the cultures of my time. If not, it is a brief amount of time that a warrior spends time alone without distraction, preferably in the wild, to find his center and balance. I am hoping that a day or two at most will be enough."

"What happened yesterday with Hartley affected me by far worse than I let you and Christopher know. I wanted to kill the scrawny worm for what he said, but I could not. I grow angrier by the moment, the more I think of it, and thus I need this time."

"I had hoped that the company of my sister and dear friend would be enough to center my spirit but no. You both were so caught up in your own ill feelings against the other rather than embracing what you obviously should, that you practically ignored a brother who was screaming for your help."

"Please explain this to Christopher. And take care of Mysia. She would not understand that when I say 'alone' that would include her as well."

"Your loving brother"

That night Cassie didn't sleep well. Her thoughts and heart were jumbled... Achilles, Hartley, Chris,.... and Wally. She wished she could see Dani more often. Somehow Danielle was the only one that made sense but alas no.... As Cassie tossed and turned sleeping her lasso opened up a portal growing bigger and bigger... until it swallowed her whole. When Cassie woke up she found herself in a different world... It wasn't a demon realm that was for sure. She was laying on a bed and woman with firey hair approached her.

" Where... am I ?"
" Welcome little one... to New Cronus."

*Chris took a seat in the back of the cafeteria. None of his friends were around and he was getting angry looks.

I better hurry and eat,
he though to himself. But...too late. Doug Ramsey and the Peeps appeared and they stalked towards Chris.*

Oh $#*%.

*The Peeps spread out in a loose semi-circle around his table.*

We told you to leave school.

I remember.

We're gonna to make you sorry...

::A blue and red blur zips through the crowd and stops by Chris's table.::

Hey, Doug. Is there a problem?

Back off, Clark, you can't stop all of us from getting at the son of a murderer.

Chris did nothing wrong. It's not fair for you to hold what his mom did against him. He was Wally's friend. And I didn't come alone, Doug.

::There was some shoving and three seniors pushed their way to Clark's side: Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance, and Arthur Curry. Doug looked around and motioned the Peeps to back off.::

You can't protect him 24/7, Kent.

*The Peeps withdrew and Clark's crew sat down at Chris's table. He glanced around nervously...these were SENIORS!*

Uh...thanks, guys.

Hartley skipped down the path to the Fine Arts building. He'd crashed last night, but recovered after a little 'fun trip' to town.

He heard they were still cleaning up elephant poop on highway I-90.

Yeah, it hadn't accomplished anything useful, but he'd needed the pick-me-up that could only be caused by backing up traffic during rush hour with the sight of ostriches line dancing.

Even better, he hadn't seen Cassie or any of her gang all day. He was starting to feel back to normal. Well...normal for him, at any rate.

So today, for the first time, he decided to attend the Glee Club that Doctor Quinzel had mandated he should join. It was probably just singing a few showtunes anyway.

"Pfffft. No big deal."

Hartley walked into the Choir Room and was at first taken aback at the lavish green-and-purple decoration covering every square inch of the towering room. The band room wasn't quite this...opulent...

Diana was sitting alone in her classroom grading papers when Reed Richards entered.

" Diana.. Do know why Cassandra missed my class today?"
" She missed class? That's very much unlike her."
" I've talked around none of the teachers have seen her today."
" Maybe she's ill. Still I would like to think I would've heard something... "

Diana stood up straightening out the stack of papers on her desk.

" I'll drop by her room and figure out what's going on..."

Diana then left the room and went towards the girls dorm. When she got to Cassie's room she saw the note on Cassandra's door and read it. Diana then shook her head and knocked on the door... When there was no response Diana checked the door knob. Surely the room had been unlocked and she entered. The room was empty but it didn't matter Diana could feel magic at play.

"By the gods.."

No problem, Chris. I'm not happy with the way you're being treated. None of us are.

::Clark indicates his friends.::

Well...thank you. But they won't give up.

I know. I'll be writing an editorial in the next issue of the Hero High Herald that may change so minds.

Oh.

*Chris shook his head. That last sentence would sound like arrogance from anyone else. Clark makes it just sounds simple and matter of fact. No wonder everyone loved the guy.*

The fresh air was doing him wonders. Teddy had taken a break from the confines of his dorm room and had found a nice grassy spot outdoors to stretch out on. He lay on his stomach, propped up on his elbows, reading a book. Not a comic book either, an actual book. And not just any book - a book that he was reading FOR CLASS. For once, Teddy was doing his homework without acting like it was cruel torture. Maybe it was because today, things seemed just a little bit brighter.

You see, for the first time in his life, Teddy was not a single man. Teddy had become the proud owner of one adorable boyfriend. His name was Billy, and he had cute little ears and a nice little tush. At least, he was pretty sure that Billy was his boyfriend. He had said so last night...Teddy rolled over onto his back, holding the book over his head as he continued to read.

You know, this whole book thing wasn't so bad when you actually took the time to enjoy it. He inhaled deeply, smelling the scent of the grass and exhaled slowly, savoring the moment. Maybe he could read love poetry.

        Wait.

Nah. Kicking off a sneaker, he rolled back onto his stomach and wiggled his freed toes before working off the other. It felt good, fresh air de-stinking his jock-o feet. His back arched slightly, and he stretched. Yeah, this moment was totally freaking awesome. The fresh air was awesome, his feet were awesome, and heck, even the book was awesome. It was all, just ...awesome.

Diana was upset to say the least. On her way out the dorms she saw Kori.

"Kori. Do you know what Cassandra's been up to?"
" No I don't.. last time I saw her was last night. She was talking to Chris."
"Chris..."

Diana was steamed. She had no idea what fate may have befallen her protege. With all the students who have recentely vanished and now... Cassandra. Diana was upset and distressed to say the least. Diana walked though the halls looking for Cassie's constant on-again, off-again, boyfriend..

*Chris, Clark, and the others walked out of the cafeteria. No Peeps were in sight.*

Thanks again. I'll be okay...I need to go see someone...

*Chris meandered his way to the girls' dorm.*

As Diana was leaving the dorms she saw Chris and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt basically draging the boy.

" We NEED to talk!"

She dragged Chris till they were alone behind the dorms. Her crystal blue amazonian eyes somehow saying 'Show NO Mercy.." Diana grinded her teeth a little still keeping a firm hold on Chris.

"Now... What happened to Cassandra?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 6:47 pm

We NEED to talk!

What? WE JUST KISSED!! gonk

*Chris is drug behind the dorms. He flails his arms in effort to escape but Diana's grip is too strong.*

What do you mean what happened to her? Last night...we made up.

*Anger flares in Diana's eyes.*

ALL WE DID WAS KISS! Then she went back to her room!

Diana's eyes narrowed.

" Cassandra's missing... when I went to her room this morning I sensed magic... Cassandra's own magical power.."

Diana still held Chris by the collar of his shirt.

" If can't control her emotions then she can't control her powers.. She's most emotionally attached to you.."

Diana grinded her teeth then let Chris go.. her voice was harsh but filled with concern.

"Damn it... she could be anywhere."
