"Of course!" The clerk said, cheerfully. My, his girl really was dainty, wasn't she? "The next size down, then?" she asked. "Alright," She set the ring aside, making a note that it was to be resized. "Anything else I can help you boys with?"

"Alright, thank you, and yes, she's a six." !!! "I mean, she's a ten! But her ring size is six." He smiled and handed over his card finally, paying in full right up-front.
"Just take good care of it for me. Thank you for all your help."

The woman grinned, writing down the size needed and ran his card. She pressed a few buttons and offered it back to Toby. She gave Toby a nod. "Will do! You take care of yourself, alright? Be sure to tell me how it goes!"

Err, well, he wasn't sure if he'd ever see this woman again but, "Sure! Thanks very much."
With that they were out. Dari turned to Toby and smiled.
"Excited?"
"and a little terrified."

It had been a surprise when Cody had agreed to come to the club with him. He was pretty sure that Cody wasn't the type and it was all going to end very badly, but Dari loved the club. He loved the thrum and the energy and the human interaction... all of it. He had been hoping to find a boyfriend there, but to no avail. He was a bit worried.
It had been his turn to pick Cody up, and he had arrived in his club clothes: just a pair of jeans and a tank top.

Cody had been waiting for Dari. He was dressed appropriately, a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, but as he opened the door to greet his boyfriend, He seemed a little uncomfortable. The hand not holding the door was fidgeting; he kept brushing it against his jeans. "Hey, love. Ready to go?" He asked.

A little part of Dari got very, very sad. This wasn't going to work and they were going to have to leave early and he was going to be doomed to club all on his own without a boyfriend forever.
Well maybe that was an exaggeration, but he was disappointed even if he had expected it. He took Cody's free hand and smiled. "We don't have to go if you don't want to."
Of course he'd get a shy boyfriend. Of course.

"I want to go," Cody assured him. He'd promised, after all, and keeping his word was more important than a few hours of personal discomfort. "I've never been, it'll be a new experience." He gave Dari's hand a squeeze, and offered him a smile.
"You'll introduce me to your friends?"

Well, that was a lie, but it was for honorable reasons. Dari smiled and let Cody lock up before leading him to the car.
"Of course I will, if they're there. I haven't been since we started dating regularly, so it'll be nice to show you off."

Cody followed Dari to the car, waited for it to be unlocked, and climbed inside. "So, clubs. Are they like what they show on television? Most things aren't, I don't really have any experience." He didn't have a reference point, beyond what he'd seen. Dancing, booze and sex? Sometimes crazy villains used them as hideouts. "Showing me off?" he asked. He looked down at himself. "Not much to look at," He said, shaking his head with a laugh.

"Sort of, not really. The music is loud, it's dark but there's colorful lights, and people dance, but there's a bar area too that isn't so crazy. I've learned who to avoid and what. Some people do drugs, some people... take other people to the back to do private things in a public arena, but not me. And not my friends."
Friends other than Toby and Maia. The thought still thrilled him. Just like that they were off.
"It's just fun. Since I came out... I don't know. I'm addicted. It was the first place I was able to express myself for what I am."

Cody kissed Dari's cheek and smiled. "That sounds fun," he said, and then paused, "The dancing, not the...everything else." He definitely preferred doing private things in private.
"Really?" he asked. "We'll have to go more often, then."

Dari gave Cody a worried glance.
"If you hate it, I really don't want you to feel obligated to come with me." If he explained his own desires it certainly wouldn't help, so he simply stopped there.

"I won't hate it," Cody reassured Dari. He studied him for a moment before leaning over and pecking him on the cheek. "How could I? Its time I get spend with you, and I cherish every moment." He leaned back into his seat, putting on his seatbelt.

Yeah, well. Cody had never been to a club.
It wasn't a long while before they were there. They had to park on the street, but that was normal, and so was the thrumming bass that echoed from the building itself as they came closer. Luckily the music wasn't deafening, but it was certainly loud. Dari nodded to the bouncer and opened the inner door and immediately grinned. Ah, he had missed this.
