Seph waved to Nyl, heating his body up to dry himself. "Well! Now that we're all here, we should probably get started."
Seph shook his head once, throwing water off his hair so it would dry faster. "Nyl, I'm going to start you on temperature control. Mai, today we're going to get you started on the basics of the Ho Dojo. Probably see what you can do Chakra-wise tonight, too."

"ok then."
Mai got out of the water and dried off a bit and waited to start.
"ok what first what first what first!"

"I know a few things about temperature control from Mizu...but there's always more to learn."
She flexed her hand once, grinning.
I owe somebody big time...

Seph nodded. "Alright. Nyl, I want you to go ahead and raise your body temperature as high as you can comfortably go."
He turned to look at Mai. "To begin with, we're going to do a little rundown. I give this speech to every student." He took a deep breath. "Sorry to put you through this torture again, Nyl," he joked. "Fire is one of the most free-form elements you will encounter. It's difficult to predict. This can be a double-edged sword. I can teach you many things about fire, about the element of Ho, which, I'll add, doesn't just include fire. Heat is a heavy focus, as well."
He paused, crossing his arms. "As humans, we like to personify things. Fire has been related to plenty of emotions. We've already been over most of this, I believe, Mai, but what you've got to understand before diving into this element is that Ho can be very stubborn. You won't be able to use it to your will without first gaining it's respect. And as they say: You must give respect to receive it."

"I thought I was susposed to respect you.... and fire doesn't live , so how can it let you like that if it ... hold on don't i already just use it like I have?"
Mai sat there, she didn't like lectures and speeches they made her fall asleep.
"ok is that it?"

Nyl's smile fell slightly. She wasn't sure why, but it bothered her to be too warm. Still, he'd asked, so...
She shut her eyes and tried to focus on heat without thinking of water. It was hard - freezing and boiling in the Mizu sense were like a second nature now.

-=Neko continues to watch. He has moved a few centimeters from where he was before, but otherwise he was still virtually undetectable. He was in the tall grass a few feet away, in a ghille suit=-

"You are supposed to respect me, Mai. But Ho is very much alive. It's an essence, so to speak. If you can gain it's respect, it will forever link with your chakra." Seph snapped his fingers, a small flame erupting over his palm. He touched down against his skin, though he remained unharmed. "Mai, I want you to take this flame." He held it out, then let it hover over to her. "And form it into a ball with your chakra."
He turned to Nyl. "Good. Focus on the element at hand as hard as you can. Don't boil, burn. Use the Ho in your chakra to raise your heat. Power it up, and raise your body temperature more."

She looked at him then watched the fire floating to her and she put her hand out. "that is it?" She asked confused, she had done things like this before.
She formed her chakra around it as she forced it into a ball and then released and it stayed after.
~it's easy, my chakra can overpower something like this like it is nothing, why is he asking me to do this?~ she thought to herself.

"Good, Mai. But this time, don't try to overpower it. Use your chakra to shape it, kind of like a pottery machine. Form it into shape, don't push it."

I don't like to be hot!
Nyl frowned, stoping down on the part of herself that thought that way. This was different.
Hot. ...Without water. ...Like...the desert. Content with that sort of picture, Nyl went back to focusing on chakra again. The air around her started to heat up noticeably.

"pottery...." She said closing her eyes as the flame went back to a mess blazing in her hand as it rotated in her palm, her eyes still closed. IN her mind she had put the flame literally on the wheel until it formed as Seph had asked her to.
"there sensei." She said smiling opening her eyes and it was just as her mind had done, in a perfect sphere.

Seph could feel Nyl's temperature rising from where he stood. "Good job, Nyl. Now condense it. Don't let the heat radiate off yourself. Monitor your chakra and find a balance between how hot you on the inside are and how much heat you're radiating. Then force the inside up while keeping the outside down."
He turned back to Mai, "Very good! This one's going to be more difficult. This time, and remember not to force it, take that orb of fire and turn it into a cube. This is much more advanced, so take your time."

"S-Seph...uh..." She swallowed once and tried again - her throat was unusually dry. "I think...this is as hot as I can let myself get. ...I'm rebelling against me."

"how do u not force that.... and what the hell would a cube be useful for?"
Mai growled not knowing what to think of to form it into a cube, but thought of a box with the top open and you needed to fill it up...... she tried to bring the fire around and into the box filling it up to the brim then shutting the lid but it didn't work it just went back to a wild flame in her palm...... she growled and tried again and again until on the fourth try she had gotten it.
