[Dawn : Red Rose : Lounge] Dawn had been sitting quietly in the Lounge for almost an hour after her time in the training room. Though others were there. She was only half paying attention. She just stared at the wall. Then Demyx came in and started to give Poker instruction to Sora. Which made the dancer roll her eyes, then tried her best not to snicker when they offered to teach him. Something about the image just didn't compute with her. However, did look over at the group when Axel asked for more information as for the reason for their destination. "I am kind of curious on that too. Are we not going to go after the next set of Wise Guys yet, or no?

Bobbi's eyes narrowed as Kyle's question ironically answered one of her own questions before she could even ask it.
"So that's what happened," she murmured absently as she wracked her brain, trying to remember what all the entity had said and done. She had no idea if Kyle's question was rhetorical or not, so she treated it seriously. She was frowning again, her eyes darting from side to side, but not focusing on anything as she thought.
"Nnnn... no. No, I don't think he ever apologized," she said after a few moments. "Although, somehow I get the feeling he's not the kind to apologize in general. He may think his actions are apology enough, and, well, considering how he protected me and helped me through that last battle, I'm inclined to let the actions speak for themselves." She shrugged then, and looked Kyle in the eyes again. "Then again, I'm an overly-forgiving idiot."

"No, I understand. He did help you and Kyla out on some occassions," he replied, shrugging with a small frown. "All the same, he's by no means entirely benevolent. I don't know how he convinced you or Kyla to let him in, but me?"
Kyle's frown grew into a grimace as he recalled his conversation with the specter just before the drive.
"It was very much an instance of weakness on my part that he capitalized on. Played on my pride and rage. Quite devilish," he explained, rolling his eyes as he glanced to the side, as if frustrated that he'd been so weak to begin with. "And the best part? He seemed to think that permission was all he needed to knot himself so thoroughly in my heart that removal would nearly shatter it. Probably did the same to you two. What a polite guest."

"There was less convincing and more of 'this is going to be a thing, have some help,'" Bobbi admitted with a shrug. "I don't mind, really. He's made himself useful, and the only things he's really done that bothered me was to take control long enough to fire off a shot with Taulmaril without warning me first. So long as I'm primarily in control of my actions and thoughts, and he at least warns me he's about to do something, I'm cool with it. Other than that and a few smart-a** remarks here and there, though, he hasn't been at all intrusive or anything." She chuckled a bit. "It's been kind of like having a second, male, and more sarcastic Shiva in my head."
~:I resent that,:~ Shiva grumbled. Bobbi tried not to laugh, but wound up snorting anyway.
"Sorry, Shiva just announced her disdain for what I said."

Kyle gave a single, dark chuckle.
"So you're fine with the Avatar of Mateus, the entity who has tried to kill us at least twice, and the entity who helped create the Replicas in the first place, having intimate access to your heart?" he asked, turning to face her with a raised brow. "Knowing he can control your actions on a whim, as he's already done before? Do those actions speak for themselves?"

Bobbi frowned again, her eyes narrowing once more as Kyle spoke. Avatar of Mateus?
"Either I'm being denser than normal, or I missed something," she said, and shook her head. "Then again I've always sucked with names, but Mateus doesn't sound familiar. I never really got an introduction from this guy, either, but... So far the actions of whatever or whoever it is that's sharing my headspace or my heart or whatever have been entirely benevolent. Admittedly, it's too soon in the game to say for sure if he is on our side or just playing me for a fool, but after the last couple hours I'm starting to wonder if this is all moot anyway. I haven't felt his presence, and he hasn't spoken to me at all since Ajora was taken. And..." She hesitated for a split second, then plowed gamely on. "I've always had a touch of empathy; you know, the ability to sense others' feelings? That seems to have gotten stronger since we came here. I never, at any time, sensed anything inimical to us, the group as a whole, from this entity. Any ill intent has been nothing more than a burst of temper, aimed either at myself or Shiva when it wasn't aimed at our mutual enemies. And the only time his ire was directed at me or Shiva was, again, when I was being a hypocrite." She shrugged again. "I don't know what to think, not yet. Frankly, I was planning on telling the entire group about this after we'd all had a chance to rest for awhile, just in case he does decide to act against us through me."

"You... what?"
The dragoon's face twitched in exasperation. After a second, his right hand grabbed his left arm like a vice grip, and he took a breath.
"Well, let me catch you up to the present," he said, his voice... Dead. Monotone, cut off from whatever he was apparently bottling up. "We went to Finkelstein's lab to rescue Belle. The Avatar of Mateus was guarding Vexen, and as we approached, he tried to kill us, preventing us from stopping Vexen, who made the replicas. They were working together. So, check one, he's responsible for the psychopathic murderers who, by the way, killed Rachel."
"Next up, Land of Dragons. He approaches that group, demands they help kill me, because his summon has some nasty grudge against mine. When they refuse, he tries to kill them, only to be chased off by Seymour. He escaped. Check two."
His tone was tenuous now, struggling to remain in control. He was failing, and his face was just slightly wrinkled.
"Here's where it gets fun! We now know that Seymour was also behind the creation of the replicas, meaning Mateus and Seymour are, or were, working together. Seymour, who with Kuja, were spying on us the whole time. Those two who were just oh so helpful like he is. But wait, you say, maybe the times he attacked he'd just lost control!"
Kyle sneered.
"Well, Kyla managed to find out who he is. The host of Mateus? Louis. The "Ivalician". He was with us at the time Mateus attacked the group in China. Meaning he's in control, and probably always was."
"But it doesn't matter. Because he just feels good. He's helping us, right?" he asked, his question obviously rhetorical. "Just like they were. And all he asks is that you let his Darkness infect so much of your heart that he can take control whenever he wishes. Sure, sure, just feels right."
He bit his lip and gripped his arm tighter before sighing. "Eh. Whatever. Not my problem."

Bobbi listened as Kyle relayed everything she had either missed or forgotten. Her only visible reactions were a clenched jaw, and the occasional narrowing or widening of her eyes. The thoughtful frown she'd worn deepened as she concentrated, doing her best to store the information in her memory banks where it should have been in the first place. When Kyle was done, she sat there for a moment; his frustration had communicated quite plainly to her, and infected her somewhat, but she knew snapping wouldn't do any good right now, and maybe a lot of harm.
"I'm sorry," she said after awhile. "I know that doesn't change anything, but I am." She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down and think about what Kyle had said instead of simply react to it. Normally she'd try to explain further what she had meant; by some of the comments Kyle had made, he'd seemed to misinterpret a few thing she'd said. But she'd learned a long time ago that usually trying to correct someone tended to just make things worse. "My memory has always sucked, but now that I've had the time to actually pay attention instead of being ambushed by everything and it's mother, I should be able to remember this time, so thank you for filling me in. I didn't know the person in my head was Louis, but I'll admit that when we were working with him in Halloween Town and Hawaii, I didn't entirely trust him. I could tell he was hiding something from us, but I couldn't tell what." She bit her lip as she thought some more, her eyes once again darting from side to side as she thought.
"I'm the kind of person who will give people the benefit of the doubt. Unless I have foreknowledge of their character, I'll try to assume the best. For example, Kuja and Seymour. I didn't know anything about them and, you know, saving lives tends to put someone in my good books. Same with the ent--Louis being in my head. No foreknowledge, so my opinions are going to be based on direct experiences. Now, however, I know. I'll keep my guard up as best I can, and Shiva will protect me as best she can." She sighed and leaned back, meeting Kyle's eyes again.
"The funny thing is, though," she continued, sounding faintly puzzled, "I don't think he's 'infected' my heart very much. Any darkness there is what I've always had; darkness that's always been a part of me and that I accepted and embraced a long time ago. His darkness has been more... well, in my head, I guess you could say. Any control he took wasn't direct, it was more of an outside force kind of, well, 'pushing' is the best way I can put it." She shook her head and bit her lip again in vexation. "It's hard to describe and very confusing, but I'm almost positive my heart is untouched. I'd notice any change, I'm sure of that."

Her apology, clearly genuine, seemed more than enough to soothe Kyle's temper. Nearly all of his tension faded away instantly. Something about the acknowledgement had been enough, even if she still wasn't entirely helpful. Still, her final answer...
"Careful about such certainty. It can be blinding," he said with a weary shrug. In fact, Kyle was nearly certain she was incorrect, based on his experience, on Kyla's, on the way Darkness in general usually worked... But he did not correct her. Who knows--hopefully, he was wrong. "One could imagine that a person skilled in dark manipulation could also be skilled at hiding it away."
"All the same, however, it's good to keep your guard up, and keep the group informed of any changes, just in case," he continued, giving a small nod. After a moment, though, he chuckled. "And hey, if you ever want to test it--just ask him to leave. If you're right, then it should be easy and he can come right back. I'd rather you not have to deal with what happens if you're wrong."

"Gods, the last thing I want is to be wrong and put any of you in danger," Bobbi said feelingly, reaching up to pinch the bridge of her nose. "Trust me, as soon as we can get everyone with and without one of those handy-dandy charms in the same area, I'm going to be announcing this entire thing." She pushed her glasses back into place and smiled tightly at Kyle.
"Of course I don't even know if he's still there or not. Like I said, I haven't felt or heard anything from him since after we whooped Ajora as hard as we could." The wry expression she'd worn up until then faded abruptly as she thought of something, and she gave voice to a question, sounding afraid as she did so.
"Kyle, do you... do you think we really beat him? He was on the verge of death when Seymour and Kuja took him. He couldn't have possibly survived, right?"

Kyle stonewalled, his brows furrowing as he glanced down at the floor. He sighed, his shoulders heaving; he had anything but high hopes.
"We definitely beat him. That much is sure. He was fading away..." he said, his voice trailing off. Images flashed, voices echoed, he was there all over again--
"But I don't think he died. I don't think they would have let him," he said, his voice low, just above a whisper. "After what he pulled off... He was too successful for his own good. He wanted to die, and I think that alone guarantees they kept him alive."
"The question is," he began, holding up his left wrist, looking at his charms. If Bobbi was being particularly analytical, maybe she would spot the unfamiliar one amongst the plethora of others she'd had herself. Otherwise, it would just look like he was staring at the charms in general. "Would he have been able to stop whatever it is they wanted. Whether that's by escaping... Or suicide."

Azrale just smiled. "Of course I do good work." He snagged some of the food, scarfing it down in a very ungentlemanly way. Which he had to finish swallowing before he could answer Elleon's question.
"Oh, you know me. I just follow my own whims. Never plan anything, too easy to fall through and all. Why?"

Bobbi drew her legs up and wrapped her arms around them, staring at Kyle as he answered her question. At least he didn't try to sugar coat it or be all reassuring, telling her "of course we beat him, of course he's dead, blah blah blah." His honesty was welcome, if not exactly comforting, but she hadn't been looking for comfort.
"I was afraid of that," she said, resting her chin on her upraised knees. "That means there's a chance he can still come back. Dammit. I'm going to assume the worst and assume he didn't manage to... escape." She shied away from the word "suicide;" for all that she hated Ajora, it still wasn't a thought she was comfortable having.

"That would be the safest assumption, to be sure," he responded, nodding while still glancing at his wrist. "At this point, the safest assumption is that if someone isn't obliviously optimistic and blindly endangering themselves to help people like Sora, they might be a bad guy. That's our luck lately."
For some reason, that made him laugh. A genuine, contagious laugh. Or so he'd been told on earth.
The way you laugh is infectious. It makes people think everything's gonna be fine. Unless it's cackling, then it's the exact opposite and we know we're screwed.
He laughed a bit more before catching his breath with a sigh. "On the other hand, it's unlike Ajora to not have a back up or escape plan. I think part of him knew something was coming. Whatever it was, he definitely planned on being alive after Atlantis--because he gave me a charm link," he explained, using his right hand to single out the spiraling dragon charm. "Gave it to Kyla to give to me when she went down alone. Though, maybe it's to someone else... Whoever it is, they haven't responded."

Bobbi snorted and smiled a little, but otherwise didn't join in Kyle's laughter. When Kyle displayed the charm, she peered at it for a moment, then shrugged.
"...huh. Dunno what to tell you," she said, turning her head to rest her cheek on her knees now, though she was still able to keep her gaze on her friend. "I'm still trying to figure out how these charm things work, to be honest. Although I think I'm getting the hang of it, I keep thinking I'm going to mess something up and somehow people will hear me in Gaelic or something."
