Personality-wise I'd say they are polar opposites almost. Gaara was rather ruthless and scorned others for ostracizing him while Ichi was kept hidden for a good part of his life. He is a bookworm with a kind heart and a shy disposition who likes having others around him. They both have the 1-tails and all that comes with that. Other than the demon- I don't see the similarities.
