Once there, Cody took a telescope out from the back of the car. He started to set it up, looking to Dari and grinning. "This is for you," he said. He looked through it, tsking and adjusting it. "Come see!"

Hah, a telescope! Wonderful! He grinned right back and then cocked his head to one side.
"What, the telescope?" Cody was just a teacher! What was he doing giving out such expensive presents?! He approached the telescope and put his eye to it, hoping it wasn't blackened with pigment or any such thing.

"Yeah," Cody said, smiling. "So you can always see what I do in your eyes." He wrapped an arm around Dari. "Do you see it?" He asked. "Your star?"

Oh, and imagine what Cody would think if he knew what Dari's eyes really looked like.
"Which one is it?" Dari asked. He reached out for the papers Cody had shown him earlier. He had been too pleased to look at the coordinates, but if he saw them he was sure he could find it.

Cody offered Dari the paperwork with a smile. "I think it's that one," he pointed to a medium sized star. "But we could check." The telescope wasn't one of those fancysmancy ones with the electronic GPS and stuff, but he could guess, right?

Dari looked over the papers, oriented himself cardinally, and then brought his star front and center.
"Yeah, it's that one," he said, smiling broadly. He looked at it a long while and then turned to Cody and gave him a tight hug. "What are we going to name it?"

Cody returned the hug, smiled and said, "What are you going to name it?" he asked. "I couldn't come up with anything good enough. I couldn't name a star Cody-and-Dari-forever." He kissed Dari's cheek.

Dari was still smiling when the hug broke.
"Well, what's your family's heritage?" Naming things in other languages always made them sound less cheesy.

"Finn," Cody said, looking to Dari and smiling slightly. "I bet you've been to Finland too," he said. "Do you have an idea?" he asked.

"Ach." He'd been to Finland, sure, but he didn't know the language. That didn't help him. "I don't know. What about Semper Amare?" Latin wasn't so bad. It made things sound all... scientific.

"Latin?" Cody guessed. "What's it mean?" He looked up at the star, smiling. He kissed Dari's cheek. "Do you like it, love?"

"Literally, 'forever love.' It's not gramatically correct but neither is the phrase 'forever love'." Dari chuckled and leaned into the cheek kiss.
"Of course I do. I'll have a piece of you forever now, where ever I am." After he had died and-- no, no, not going there. He had promised himself that he would live in the moment, as Lori had insisted, and at the moment he was gloriously happy.

"I like it," Cody said, smiling. "Forever love," he said, looking up at the star. "Its perfect." He veered his eyes from the sky to Dari. "Do you think you can see it from your house?"

"I don't know," Dari replied, "Maybe." If not, it didn't really matter. He should have to drive too far to see it. The only downside was that some mission might bring him far enough away that he couldn't see it at all. Oh well. He'd always know it was there.
He turned then to look at Cody and took both of the man's hands before leaning in and using one to caress his cheek as they kissed.

Cody let the kiss linger, and when it ended, he sat on the ground, tugging Dari down with him. He looked up at the sky, paused, and said, "What do you think about when you look up?" he asked.
