Kestin; Do a system restore immediately. That's almost the EXACT same thing that totalled my computer a few days ago. :/
In other news, I have been sick all day, boyfriend is being much nicer to me (I'm not used to it - he's usually kind of selfish and whiny) and his phone got shut off. xD Kind of a blessing since I don't really want to talk-talk to him lately.

Okay, but how do I make it go away? My regular program says there's nothing wrong (it has the little green check mark).

X.X You're going to have to do a system restore - search for it on your computer. It should restore your computer to its' exact programs as it was a few days ago, which will make it go away. And I can't remember how to get there emo

Kestin: ...this is a nasty one, unfortunately. What operating system are you running? Windows XP?

Use System Restore After you've decided to use System Restore to revert your system to a previous state, start the System Restore Wizard and follow the prompts. To use the System Restore Wizard, make sure you're logged on as an administrator, and then follow these steps: 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. 2. On the Welcome screen, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next. 3. On the Select a Restore Point page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, as shown in Figure 2, and then click Next. Figure 2 Figure 2 4. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, verify that the correct restore point is chosen, and then close any open programs. 5. Click Next if you are ready to proceed or click Back to change the restore point. 6. The computer will shut down automatically and reboot. On reboot, you'll see the Restoration Complete page, and then click OK. After reviewing the stability of your system, you can choose another restore point or undo this restoration. Just open System Restore and make the appropriate choice. After you use System Restore, you'll have an additional task, Undo my last restoration, on the System Restore Welcome page. Remember that you'll have to reinstall any programs that were installed after the restore point. If System Restore doesn't work in Normal Mode, it might work in Safe Mode. To use System Restore in Safe Mode, press the F8 key during reboot and choose Safe Mode. When your computer starts in either Safe Mode or Normal Mode, System Restore can be used to capture a working previous state. System Restore can't be opened unless the system is bootable into one of these modes. Source, a fair ways down.

On my phone now. It said the restore failed so i'm doing a full system scan with my regular program. I want it to go away i'm more freaked out than usual because i have no clue whatsoever what caused it. I haven't beem to any new sites in months. Maybe an ad? But that's really scary...not something i can control. crying

Just try to calm down, it's annoying but you can do it D:

@Kestin: Had that problem a week ago. Doing a system reboot fixed everything of course (well I now have messed up computer memory... before I was able to play an MMO AND Youtube at the same time. Now all I get is a) MMO shuts down since "not enough memory to hold both" b) Firefox shuts down c) Laptop freezes (well I can't use my touch pad mouse).
I'm very frustrated on the inside and no one else knows except those who are reading this.

It's really freaky though if it can bury itself in ads...that means I can't stop it no matter how careful I am. gonk
Umm...so my antivirus said it deposed the threat, but now something's screwed up and I don't really know what it is. xp I just had a conversation with my computer that went something like this:
Me: *tries to open MS Paint* It: What's that? Me: ...A program. It: Oh, you mean a file? What program do you want to open it with? Me: ...MS Paint. It: Sorry, MS Paint can't open mspaint.exe. It's not a valid file. Me: It's not a file. stare *tries to open browser* It: What's that? Me: My browser. A program. It: Oh, another file. What program do you want to use? Me: ...This is so redundant, but *clicks anyway* It: Sorry, the file could not be opened. Me: *facepalms and tries to open browser again* It: What's that? Me: *gives up* It's a file, all right?! It: Okay! *successfully opens internet* Me: *headdesks*

But I mean, it won't open the program as itself, it makes me choose what program to open the program with. And once I click the thing I'm trying to open, it only actually works about half the time. xp If anyone has a clue what's going on, I'd love to hear how to fix it.
And what do you mean I won't like you saying it? Does it involve getting a significant other? gonk
