I thought that was just a myth...

The 'monster'? There are people who firmly believe in it; it's never been 'proven' that there is no monster - most likely because it's impossible, or next to, to prove that something doesn't exist - although the logistics have always been shown to be very improbable. For the most part I think people accept it's a myth.

Since the photograph that started it all was proven to be a fake. (The history's actually pretty interesting, you know). That makes it even more hilarious that the Thatcher government considered this scheme.

In Michigan this guy chopped up his wife left her torso in his garage and fled into upper Michigan and was admitted to the hospital because he had hypothermia and frostbite.

It's so messed up. How can people do that?
