"You didn't pack any."
Jin continued to drive the wagon in his same calm, composed manner. Shifting the reigns to his right hand, Jin reached into his tunic with his left and pulled a small mythril flute out from inside.
"There may be something that you can wear in the supplies, my Lady."
To pass the time until nightfall, he began to play.

Adrienne would need something warmer to wear come nightfall, when the temperature would drop, but for the moment she forgot that issue. She could curse the bandit's musical talent, because she couldn't ignore the sound of his flute. Whether the melody was laced with magic or not, it still held power over her. Adri found that all of her worries and cares were forgotten for the moment as she was entranced by the tune, her body swaying gently with it.

Jin simply played. Perhaps not a song, perhaps simply pieces of melodies as they came to mind, drifting into one another and colliding. This was the way that a tune managed to carry for hours... and it would. Until the sun set over the mountain tips to the west and the eastern slopes that they traveled across were cast into darkness.
Camp would need to be made before the night became too dark. The horses would need to rest as well.

By the time Jin stopped to make camp, the basilisk had crashed. She'd spent most of the previous night and that day awake and struggling, not to mention her brief run.

The wagon stopped near a thicket of trees, or at least the thickets set of trees that could be found nearby. The horses were tethered to them with enough of a lead to feed and rest, and Adrienne if she awoke would find herself beside a fire and tethered by her ankle to the wagon axle.
Jin slept upright against a tree beside the horses.

Adri did waken, but by that point, she was in no mood to try and escape again. She'd just bide her time until the perfect moment. For now, she was too tired to try anything else and since the fire was warm enough, she was content to remain where she was. The basilisk sat up, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her head on them as she watched the orange blob that was the sleeping form of her captor.
"Tch," she clicked her tongue. "Jewel to be treasssured and aprecciated, hmm... sssince when doesss a thief treasssure anything other than their own ssselfish desssiresss? What doesss he want with me anyway?"

Was it dawn yet? If not, Jin would sleep for a while longer. There was no point in getting back on the path until the sun had risen and they could see what was ahead of them. If the fire had died down, there was a pile of broken tree limbs sitting beside it for Adrienne to throw on.

Adrienne threw a few more pieces of wood onto the fire, watching the bright sparkles of cinders fly up and swirl back down into the larger body. Had she felt like it, she could have thrown a flaming branch at the horses to spook them. If she were lucky, they'd trample the thief to death in their fright. She didn't feel like it though, she was actually starting to become curious as to why Jin wanted her so badly. Sure that the fire wouldn't go out before morning, Adrienne curled up a little closer to it to sleep.

The fire came close to dying out one or two times before the morning came. New wood was added when it was dying, but only when it was caught in the act. It was still going a little bit when the sun finally came over the horizon, and by that time Jin was already in the process of yolking the horses to the wagon.

"What does a king among thievesss want with a ssslave that he doesssn't want to ussse asss a ssslave?" Adrienne spoke up from where she sat next to the fire. She'd woken up again sometimes during the process of him yolking the horses. As she spoke, she prodded at the fire with a piece of wood, throwing on some of the last bits of wood and watching the embers swirl and dance.

Jin patted down the horses, stroking their necks as he fitted the bits into their mouths again and readied them for the day's journey.
"Why does a slave who does not wish to be free try to run?"
He came around to the back of the wagon, checking to see that all of the ropes and fastenings were in place.

Adrienne was on her feet before he even finished the question, she was fuming. She ran at him, she'd try to tackle him, useless as it was since he seemed to be prepared for everything she did. "Becaussse you're not my massster."

She tackled him. His left hand was still holding one of the ropes that tied down the wagon, and it jerked them back like a spring after she charged into him. Jin never lost his calm, collected expression but instead simply pulled back on the rope until he was standing again.
"Who, then, my Lady?"

"That man is gone now. There's no more need for you to concern yourself with him."
Jin stepped away from the wagon and moved around Adrienne, heading towards the back. There were still a few things that needed to be done before they could be on their way, and time wasted standing around was time added to their journey.
"I do not intend to sell a Lady, dear Adrienne. If you prove yourself to be nothing more than a colored stone then there is no reason for me to keep you. A true jewel is far more valuable than any amount of coin that it could be sold for, my Lady. Treasure is meant to be treasured, won, and given freely."
