'Damn it to all hell!!! If I had a frickin' crow bar....No wait, a HAMMER!! Gah, some kind of hard, steel, destructive thing! Not having a weapon is annoying!! A hammer and a time machine, that's all I'd need to fix this!!"
Ryouki had his own morning ritual these days, which involved him loudly screaming in his own mind over what to do next and banging the back of his head against the wall of the room he shared with Rain. The last of the two he'd tried to stop doing, considering that the scientists had chewed him out several times over the annoying sounds coming from their place of residence in the mornings.
Still though, it didn't help the situation either way. Even with the nurse's help, Ryou still hadn't been able to get into the files. The day before he'd gotten close, but unfortunately he'd taken to long and the bell signaling lunch time had gone off. Not to mention he was feeling bad about paying so much attention to some files he wasn't sure would help him. Rain was down, he knew it, but he didn't know how to help. Ryouki was never good at communicating, especially with females. Back when he was younger he'd always been the bookworm, not the soldier.
"Hey, Rain....?" he looked over to the bathroom door, but spoke quietly, maybe hoping she actually wouldn't hear him. "So, uh.....do they tell you if your ever gonna have a squadron? I heard that the last three...subjects...worked in a trio."

((I don't care. You did finally something!!! blaugh In the end, that's all that really matters. razz ))
Of course, Rain had heard him. She was leaning right against the door, her ear pressing against it. With a melancholy expression on her face, she looked down at the floor. It depressed her when all that Ryouki would talk about were things pertaining to her training and what she would do after training.
She didn't anwser. She didn't feel like it and she didn't want to. All she really wanted was for him to talk about something else other than what she did most of the day. Why couldn't he start a conversation about... she didn't know what, but something other than her having a squadron!
Turing to have her back against the door, she slowly slid down until her bottom hit the floor. Feeling her stomach grumble and rumble, she placed a hand on her tummy. She hadn't eaten breakfast in who knows how long. Leaning her head against the door, she looked up at the fluorescent light in the ceiling.

((Lala... I bored...)
Appromimately six days had passed since that morning. As hard as she tried, Rain couldn't keep it off her mind. Any day or morning like that, Rain could not keep it out of her head, and it must be said it sure did screw with her concentration. Ivan had noticed she was getting disctracted, so he made to do breathing exercises and meditate every now and then. It helped most of the time, but sometimes she couldn't keep the thoughts away.
It was her third month of training and her third month of living in the Foundation. Ivan did not come around much anymore, seeing as how Rain was coming into her own and it wasn't necessary to watch over her every day. They would still have their morning runs, but once that was completed he would give her a schedule for the day and leave her to herself. The activities listed in her schedule constituted exercise, combat training, LFO simulations, weapons instruction, guitar practice, and even an hour each night for swimming to calm the nerves and mind. Her mind had become sharp, absorbing everything that was fed into it.
It was late morning and Rain was in the middle of her combat training. All around her were weird coatrack looking things. She stood in the middle, solid and stoic as a statue. Her legs were drawn together and her hands clasped below chest, which was moving up and down in a slow rhythmic pattern. Her closed eyes shot open and darted around until they found a prey that suited her. She shifted a foot forward, then swung the other leg in a roundhouse to hit one of the pegs of the 'coatrack' where it came out from the main structure. Once that foot was placed on the floor, the other reached up and kicked another part of the structure. She then did a combination of hand strikes, hitting in various places on the 'coatrack.'
Rain was so busy concentrating that if anyone came into the gym she would not have noticed. She had to keep at it until it was time to go to the next activity on the schedule, which happened to be lunch.

(((Ya know, the way you said Rain's schedule, it made me think of Rei Ayanami. Especially the swimming. So Rain's our Rei? xd )))
"......."
'I shouldn't. She'll get mad if I distract her from her training...' even Ryouki had some common sense, though one wouldn't know it by the way he spazzed out every time something went wrong or frustrated him.
Still, he found himself creeping the door open slightly, just to watch Rain have at those targets. He'd been doing this the last few days, though only heaven knows why. For some reason, the girl's moves fascinated him, even though he knew it was part of the training they'd make her kill with.
That is, if he did nothing. He'd been thinking on it for a while, and Ryou had decided that if he could find those files and locate his sister, he would escape from this place and take Rain with him. Some crazy idea that was, considering she seemed to hate his guts these days and love her 'job' more and more. Still, a boy could dream.......
(((Meh, best I could do. Wanna add some depth already, Ryouki seems so shallow!)))

((Umm... Rain our Rei? o__O` I.. dunno. razz But Kayako would definately be our Asuka, only on steroids or something! xp ))
Knocking that post clear over, she backflipped to the one behind her. On the last flip, she made a mid-air turn and brought her foot down on a row of pegs, snapping them clear off the post. Then she croached down low and swiped at the base with her foot, knocking it over. She moved onto all the other posts until each and every "enemy" was "destroyed."
Done with that, Rain checked the clock; time sure seemed to fly by when one was beating the slinters out of chunks of wood. The little human-weapon-in-training walked over to the bench where she picked up a water bottle and squirted some of the cool liquid inside into her mouth and onto her head. She then began to get the strange feeling that she was being watched and when she turned her head, sure enough there was Ryouki at the door.
She opened her mouth to say something, but not a single word or sound came out, so she closed it and sat down on the bench. She kept her eye on the lad to see what he would do next.
((I'm sorry, but don't worry!! Monday is slated as the day of the BIG second fight between Rain and the others, so Ryouki will have time to get deep soon.))

(((Okay kids, time for a crazy-long post you all have to read that me and Rekka wrote together!! xd )))
'Nice going idiot. You had time to hide....' It seemed like all Ryouki did these days was curse either the military or himself, and today it was the latter. Still though, he smiled like nothing was bothering him and stepped out from behind the door. He didn't approach Rain, but instead just sort of looked at her trying to be positive. That, at least, might help her know that he didn't hate her guts.
"That was good. Ya know, your alot better a fighter than any of those stingy military bums, Rain. They don't tell you that enough....."
Somehow, that was just the best thing Ryou could think to say.
----------------------------------------------
Rain smiled at him. It was the first smile she gave him in what seemed too long of a time. She prepared to make a response, but then her watch beeped, signaling time to go to her next destination. She got up and walked to the door. She stopped when she was in the frame. Her head turned to look at him, but stopped halfway in turn. She hesitated for a moment, thinking of something to say. "... I'm sorry..." was all she could muster out in a very quiet whisper, one Ryouki might not have heard, then proceeded out the door.
Time passed.
----------------------------------------------
Lunch. Ryouki didn't eat lunch the day before they were set to go out on their first mission. Not because he wasn't hungry, but because he decided it was now or never to get to those experiment files held in the back of the foundation building. He knew where they were stored; he'd heard people talking about it in the halls. He also knew how to get in thanks to that nurse who'd helped him awhile back.....all he needed was the right moment to strike.
Today, he got it.
The Novak Foundation was in an uproar. Colonel Dewey was launching some plan of some sort shortly, as far as he'd heard, and all the staff were grouped together talking about it like giddy schoolgirls. The scientists especially seemed excited, saying that this would be the time they saw all their efforts come through. That, and the "Ageha Project"....whatever that was. Ryouki didn't care about it, he just took his time sneaking past them to the first security door, where he entered the pass code that was still written on his wrist.
It opened, and the black-haired boy walked through to the next hallway. Luckily, his pda-snooping had told him the layout of the entire facility, so he knew where to go. First left, door, then down the hall, door, then to the back containment room. The more he walked, the more the layout of the foundation seemed to grow darker. By the time he reached the final door, the one where the pass code no longer worked, the halls were dimly lit, and broken machinery was scattered this way and that. And yet, oddly, there were no guards or security cameras. Everything looked like it had been destroyed at some point, and some places on the walls had dark, brownish-red stains smeared on them which resembled bloody handprints just a little too much. Trying to ignore this, Ryouki took out his pda and plugged it into the side of the number panel on the door. He'd designed a program that would trick the computer into thinking he had already entered the right code, since he had no hope of using a random-generator without tripping the alarm. It was something he'd learned from an old friend, and he just hoped it would work on military technology.
After a moment of tension, he heard a CLICK!, and the lock on the door moved to the side. Sighing in relief, Ryouki unplugged the device and stepped through. There were only two doors left, and he used the same trick on each one. On some rare lucky streak, it worked, and the boy proceeded until he reached a small, metal room. In it were various file cabinets, all the same plain steel color. Near the back was a computer screen in the wall and a command console, most likely for viewing video logs. Closing the door behind him and locking it, Ryouki gulped, and walked over to the first cabinet. There was some apprehension, but the drive to find his sister overdrove any instinct to run that he might have had. He pulled out the first folder.
Minutes passed with nothing but employee records, all of which were useless to Ryouki. One cabinet, then another, until he came to the final one. He was getting to wonder if he was in the right room at all.......but there, on the first drawer, was a label titled "Ageha Project: Squad 01". He opened it, and inside were four files. They read "Project Eureka", "Project Anemone", "Project Liana", and finally, to Ryou's shock and somewhat happiness, "Project Kayako". The "project" part, however, made the first hints of anger flicker in his mind. He thought about what they'd been doing to Rain....all the tests, fighting, turning her into a weapon...he didn't even want to imagine them doing that to her. But at the same time, he HAD to know, no matter how bad the truth was...... Pulling at the folder, he flicked it open. When he did, his heart sunk a little more, seeing the picture on top of the stack of papers. It was a face he recognized.....the face of his sister. There was no doubt now about who this folder belonged to. He'd found her......
Then, something shiny caught Ryouki's attention. It was a disk in a small case, the words "Project Kayako: Progress Log" written on the front. Still in shock, but curious, he took it out. Setting down the folder, he went over to the computer and put the disk in, wanting so see what exactly they had done; even though at some level, he was afraid of what he'd see......And he was right to be afraid. The boy wasn't prepared for what played out on that screen over the next twenty minutes......
Twenty minutes, minutes filled with disturbing images of happy scientists, just so proud of what they were creating. Twenty minutes of a girl awakening without knowing who she was, being tested, used; her body changed, drugs injected, the same girl laughing while she destroyed things in the black and violet LFO they'd made for her. The scientists puzzled at why her amber eyes would not become purple, and trying it again and again while at the same time she was taught to fire guns and kill enemies. The more minutes ticked by, the more anger rose in the boy who was watching it all. Anger and rage, knowing that those bastards had the nerve to do this to an innocent girl...and even more rage knowing that he was letting them do it to Rain too.
The final scene clicked on. A scientist stood in front of the camera, holding a bloody rag to his head. Behind him was a scene of chaos and destruction. "T-This is day 300 of Project Kayako.....The-The project escaped, tore up the entire left side of the building....." he gasped in pain, then looked back up "I-It witnessed the dna infusion of Project Liana, which failed. Then it used the typeDESTINY to attack the foundation and took off....The UF KLFs stationed outside are pursuing it....but they've failed to locate the project. Project Kayako is stalled until it resurfaces...." Then the tape ended.
The moment the screen went black, the boy clenched his fists and a crash sounded as Ryouki kicked over a random cabinet, screaming as loud as he could. It didn't matter, he was too far away from the main foundation for anyone to hear.....
"DAMNIT!!!! DAMNIT TO HELL YOU SICK F-AAAAAARGH!!!!"
CRASH! Another cabinet. He then proceeded to punch the wall as hard as possible, cursing the world and everything in it. Inwardly, he cursed himself as well. If he would've been home when the bombs fell, he could've kept them from taking her to this hell-hole. They wouldn't get away with this. They'd hurt her, and now she was running around somewhere, not knowing who she was.....not even a place to go! They would all die, he'd destroy this whole place if he could.....
That was when he saw it. A flash came to his mind, an image of Rain. There was still HER here, and she needed out of this before they did to her what they'd done to Kayako. However, Ryouki knew it would be hard enough to get out of here himself, let alone with someone else who didn't even want to leave. But he couldn't leave her with these lunatics, no way in hell! ....He remembered what they were to do the next day. They were going on a ship, to head to their first mission. A ship would probably have KLFs to support Eden, and the security would be lax. If he could just get her to come with him, that would be the perfect way to get Rain out.
Ryou tried his best to calm down, and compose himself. He'd hate it, but he'd have to put up with being here just a little longer if it meant saving someone that was important to him.

Things hadn't gotten better between the two. It wasn't any one person's fault, in fact the blame laid on both of them. Rain only waited for Ryouki to make the first move towards patching things up, which was a bad idea since he was too timid to do so. So nothing more happened.
During the course of Rain's training, her mind had become sharp; it absored anything and everything that was fed into it. As the weeks progressed, so did she. She became effective in everything she was trained for: direct, non-LFO combat; weapons skills; LFO combat and anything else to do with an LFO, even if it was just on simulations.
Finally, the day came, the day Ivan thought Rain ready for her first mission. After lunch one day, Ivan took Rain to the facility were Eden was being held. Rain knew what was going on, even though Ivan was vague on the details, only telling her "Come on, I have something to show you."
As the car drove on through the compound, Rain looked out of the window, an excited smile on her face. The excitement and anticipation began to rag on her, so she was soon twitching about. Eventually, it was too much to bare. "Are we there yet?" she asked him, beaming up into his face. Ivan nodded his head. "Right there," he said, pointing forward. Rain looked forward and in front of them stood a large building.
Now inside, Rain was blindfolded as Ivan led her though the building. The blindfold was mainly for fun, so the anticipation would rise even more and become utter shock and surprise when she saw the "gift" Ivan was "giving" to her.
They stopped walking, Rain was turned around, and off came the blindfold. She gawked up at what stood in front of her, a huge, shiny, metallic being with silver and green armor adorning it. Before Rain had any chance to actually make a reaction, Ivan put his hand on her shoulder. "Get in," he said. "You're going on your first mission. There's no time for practice, as I'm sure you won't need it."
As Rain got prepared to board the Eden, Ivan began talking with another man, making preparations for her first mission and making sure everything was ready.
After about half an hour, Rain was loaded up in Eden. Once in there, everything about the controls seemed to click with her, like she had been in the cockpit before. Plus, the simulator she was trained it was an exact replica of Eden's cockpit.
Once she was ready, she moved Eden out of the "dock" and as instructed, turned the LFO to vehicle mode. She drove out to a field behind the building and there, waiting for them, was a UF ship, the Bolero to be exact. Standing in front of the ramp was a young white haired woman.
"All set to go?" she asked Ivan as he approached. He nodded his head and signaled for Rain to board the Bolero. She hit the eccelorator and into the belly of the ship she went, the woman and Ivan following.

Rain's eyes flickered open for a moment. She felt some movement happening, but she wasn't causing it. Her head hurt her and she was too out of it to tell what was going on. All that could really phase through to her were voices talking.
"She took a pretty good beating, it seems."
"That was a real shock, that the Silence and its pilot were the ones to knock her out."
"Let's just focus on getting her healed and back to health again before her next mission. Take her to her room and keep an eye on her. You focus on getting the Eden repaired and back to full working order."
"Yes, sir."
"Yes, sir."
Rain's eyes tried to focus on the blurred silhouettes around her, but she couldn't. Feeling a heavy weight tug at her, she closed the lids of her eyes and fell back into a deep sleep.

About a week and a half passed since Rain was returned to the Foundation compound. Two or so days out of that time period was spent recovering, but it didn't take too long since Rain hadn't substained as much damage to herself as Kayako had.
Rain was more depressed-looking and withdrawn than before, and most of the reason to that lied in the fact that she felt she had failed Ivan. It was her first mission and it was going marvelously, and then in the last minute as she was about to close it all in, everything came crashing down. Someone knocked her out and took her quarry away from her. Ivan never made any references to her having failed him, but she felt he was now thinking she was becoming useless.
After she had recovered, she had an ample number of times to redeem herself because she was sent on other missions she was completely successful in. However, she felt that none of those could amount for that first failed mission. She begged Ivan again and again to let her go after that purple and black LFO, to let her get her revenge and show him that she can successfully do this mission.
Ivan told her that he knew she could have done it that first time if it wasn't for that other LFO that came in. He truly did think so, and he also thought that this mission was going to need some back up. Planning with Dusana, they decided that she and her squad would back up Rain as they went after the escaped experiments one more (and hopefully the last) time.
Ivan told Rain that she would get her vengence and to this she rejoiced. But when he told her she was going to have backup, she grew angry. "I don't need any help!" she defended herself. "I can do it on my own!" Ivan told her that this group was too formidable for just one person to handle, even a girl with such talent and skill as her own. He also said that getting at least one of the two members and bringing them back was too important to risk letting them get away again. "I'm not going to risk this," he told her. "Dusana and her team are coming to keep the others off you so all you have to worry about are getting just those two."
Now everything was planned and it was the day of the mission. Ivan and Dusana were out in the field making sure everything was ready for departure. Rain was in her room, eating breakfast for what seemed the first time in weeks. She was excited to be able to go out and get revenge on that LFO that got away, but for some reason that didn't keep her from eating. So preoccupied in her own thoughts was Rain that she didn't notice a certain black-haired boy in the room.
((Hmm... kinda long, huh? Oh, well! xp ))

(((O___O Oh here we go. And I have the perfect way for him to start this...)))
Ryouki watched Rain eat for a minute, trying to gauge what kind of mood the girl was in so he could tell how to proceed. There was something he needed to do before they set out again, even though he knew there was little to no chance of her listening to what he was going to say.
This past week was like torture to Ryou. First, he'd let himself stay there so he could break Rain free while they were on the ship, but that plan hadn't worked at all. She'd launched before he had time to get near her and talk to her, and now look what had happened. She'd gotten hurt, and there was nothing he could do to stop it because he was locked on the Bolero while she fought. It was the exact same thing he was trying to prevent from happening, and yet he wasn't able to help her. It had taken all the self-control in his body to stay still and silent for another week while he waited for another chance.
And now she was going after that group again. Ryouki didn't want to think about how this mission would end, so he tore himself away from the wall and walked over to his roommate quietly.
"Rain.....Look, I know this mission means alot to you. And I know you wanna impress Ivan. But...I don't think you should go."

Rain's head shot up and she gave him a terrible glare. "Who are you to decide what I should and shouldn't do?" she snapped at him, not at all pleased that he would rain on her parade. "You're only here to take care of me, not be my personal consultant, and don't you forget it!"
She turned around in her chair and had her back face him. "I bet you're just jealous because I don't give you the attention I give Ivan. I know it makes you boil inside to see me happy with him and not with you."
Rain wasn't even sure if it was true herself or not. She was pretty much fed up with how Ryouki had been acting these past few months, and especially most recently. She missed the times they shared together back in the beginning, yet she felt that they would never happen again. It was like Ryouki was a security blanket or some such item and now she had outgrown him.

"Oh spare me, I wouldn't be jealous of that guy if he had forty cars and a million women swooning over him!!"
Now that, that was true. Ryouki had one fatal flaw in his character though, and that was the fact that, quite frankly, he was never all there in the head. On that note, fights usually always got taken too far because he felt the need to defend himself.
"You don't get it, do you? You got hurt last time, what makes you think you won't get hurt again, or maybe even killed? I know LFO pilots, and they ALWAYS fight harder the second time around!"

Rain turned around again and stood up to face him. "And what makes you think I won't fight harder!? You think I can't handle this fight? I wasn't that hurt, anyway. I almost had victory in my hands until I got hit from behind me."
Of course, Rain was going to defend herself, too. He didn't think she couldn't do this? What did he know?! He never saw her fight, he didn't see what she was doing, and he definately doesn't know what she's fully capable of.
"Out of all the missions I've done so far, that was the only one I failed in. I made on mistake and it won't happen again. I can easily take that girl out once more, and this time I will succeed. Ivan believes in me, why can't you?"
