It took Kaine a long moment to recover from the song, coming back to the here and now of the Nest, rather than a lost live on a distant stage with figures just as hazy-- and wait a minute. Was that... Draco? "Oi, Draco... what are you doing here?" the fox called to the lamia, his voice still holding that musical quality of a song well sung.
Draco froze-- he'd been spotted... ohshit. "...you two were making a lot of noise," the boy shrugged slightly. All right, it was a lame excuse. But the young wizard couldn't think of anything more to say... how could he put into words that the music he'd heard seemed completely surreal-- and yet more real than anything he'd experienced lately...?

Hijiri, at any other time, probably would have been offended at his music being called, 'noise', but as he was riding the high of a piece well played, he simply smiled and purred to Kaine, "Da~re~~?"

"Draco, this is Hijiri-- one of Kit-san's charges. And Hijiri, this is Draco, our resident sulky snake," Kaine nodded. He knew better than to approach Draco to try to bring the lamia into the room-- the boy had a habit of bolting when anyone tried to get him into an enclosed area alone.
Which made Kaine wonder just WHAT was going on in the Malfoy family.
Draco nodded slightly, edging away. Kaine was bad enough, but someone else too? Good GOD. Who knew what they'd be up to?

The violinist gave the boy a brief smile, eyes flashing. There... was something wrong with his left eye, it seemed, but it was hard to place what exactly was weird about it...
"Pleasure to meet you, Draco~" he chirped. Part of him wondered if he was going to go through the, 'Hey! You look just like Hisoka!' thing, but another part concentrated more on the newcomer, wondering why he was edging away. then again, a lot of people edged away from the over-friendly Kaine but still....
((Yes, Hijiri sees the 'molestation' as 'overfriendliness.' xd ))

Kaine mentally sighed at Draco's obvious hesitancy. "Draco, why don't you and Hijiri get to know each other a little bit?" he suggested with a smile. "I've got some things I need to take care of, and we shouldn't leave our guest unattended, right~?" he purred.
Draco swallowed hard-- left alone... with someone? He didn't know anything about this 'Hijiri'-- and if he was anything like the rumors the lamia had heard about some of the other anthros Kit looked after, Draco DEFINITELY didn't want to deal with him.
But at the same time, this way he'd have a legitimate excuse to not go meet his father the way he was supposed to.
"..........fine," the boy muttered as he entered the room slowly, cautiously. He didn't trust Kaine. Not at all. And he trusted this new kid even less...
What the hell was he getting himself into?

The cat blinked, moving to put the violing back on the wall for now. He was feeling rather light headed, so he wasn't sure if it was a good thing to try and hold the instrument at the moment.
Barely catching the conversation that went on between the two, he just smiled and shrugged. Meeting new people was much better than bothering his two friends after all. He needed to tell Kaine how good he thought the fox was at singing, but as he felt terribly incoherent, it might be better not to try to praise such magnificent singing now.
"Hm~? Alright, thass fine~" he agreed to the conversation he was not included in, sitting on the floor to catch his breath. "Kaine-chan'll come back later, and Draco'n I can talk for a while?"

Kaine nodded, giving Hijiri a kiss on the cheek-- just next to his lips-- before slipping off, careful to give Draco his distance.
You almost got the feeling that Kaine knew something about Draco he wasn't saying.
Draco swore softly under his breath as Kaine shut the door behind him, the lamia observing the cat carefully. Right. So... Hijiri happened to be a violinist. Who had a weird eye. Right. Nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to be anxious of...

Even though Hijiri tended to be good at reading people, he missed the slight shift of Kaine's behavior, focused more on how to breathe properly than who was going where or why. He could feel the blood pounding dully through his head, every nerve tingling. Part of him wanted to study the newcomer more, the pale skin and fine hair had caught his eye, but he was still nervous about his current state. Unsure about this Draco's strength, he really didn't want to freak the boy out with his eye.
He also wasn't sure how the demon would react if the boy was attractive. yes, this was a big worry.

Draco didn't know why he felt abruptly uncomfortable, why the air around him seemed heavy-- more like water than air. It all happened too fast for him-- one moment he cautiously avoided Kaine, the next he felt something cold clutching at his heart...
"So. You're one of Kit's brats, hm?" Draco sneered, giving Hijiri a once-over. "I thought raven found all of the anthros Kit's supposed to look after-- and she tends to have DECENT taste," the lamia shrugged. The shift in his demeanor would be both abrupt and unsettling-- to most.

The insults barely dented Hijiri's ego; the boy was almost used to slander, being an orphan who rode entirely on scholarships as well as a star violinist merged with a devil.
"raven-san found you, didn't she?" he replied smoothly, finding his eyes rising to meet the lamia's. Hijiri had found out verbal warfare was much more successful when eye contact was made. Not that the violinist was trying to incite conflict. Okay, maybe he was. He didn't mind arguing, it made life much more interesting. "I could say the same to you."

Draco smirked at that. "My family is one of the oldest wizarding families in the entire world-- and none of our blood is diluted by fools like yourself. At least I have some pedigree-- not some mangy alley cat who's been who knows where with who knows who."

"Breed means nothing if the product is rotten, sweetheart," he purred, standing. Hijiri judged that he was a bit taller, just a little older than this brat, but that never really meant much to Hijiri anyway. "Of course, if you're in a padded world of pedigree, it's hard to see the festering. You tend not to notice the stench until you step into fresh air."
His left eye felt as if was swirling, half of the world painfully sharp while the other side remained blurred, almost muffled in comparison. He didn't dislike this boy, but it was damn hard not to sneer, Hijiri so sick of elitist tendencies (forgetting the violin diva within him).

"And what are you-- some washed up, halfbreed who goes around pretending to be something of a musician?" Draco shrugged. "Someone who doesn't even have two good eyes to call his own?"

The response was a slit-eyed grin, kitten quickly closing the space between them. "Don''t misunderstand, little Lordling or whatever title you want-- I am what I am. I exist, and that''s more than enough for me."
"So tell me what''s so special about family and prestige, Draco," he smiled with a purr, tone only slightly mocking and Draco''s name dropping so casually from his lips. "Since I have neither."

"Like a brat like you would ever understand," Draco scoffed as his eyes narrowed, his hand moving towards his wand quickly as he realized Hijiri was far too close for comfort. "If you could understand, you already would."
