"Oh, y'right. Chicken wingsss is too wordy. I'll shorten it to 'chicken'!" He made a chicken wing of one arm and flapped it as he made the insulting noises to go along with it, then laughed obnoxiously.

"Oh. Oh. Think you're sssooo tough, doncha? Y'rather I settle things with these?" He dropped the pitchfork across his lap and thrust his scaly left hand up half a foot in front of Gaius's face, trying to show off the large, sharp claws that graced his fingers. After he felt Gaius had gotten enough of a look, he pulled the hand back to his lap to hold onto the pitchfork. He hissed. "Y'want dignity? I'll give you sssome ******** dignity, chicken wingsss. I won't slash you open and expose your goddamn intestinesss."

Zach laughed along with Ginerva, thoroughly enjoying her comments through the haze of the alcohol.

Gaius bridled at the insults - they were ganging up on him! He shot Ginerva a dark look before snearing back at Zach.

"I'm not a chicken..." he growled, Freddie's taunts all too fresh in his mind, and Zach's grating clucks worked at the sting in his pride like a toothpick digging into a papercut. It didn't help when he flinched away from his sudden thrust, feeling all the more foolish.

"I'd like to see you try, baldy, before they buzz you down," he growled, edging out of reach. He wished he had a free hand to use the sword strapped to his belt.

Oh, I would be certain to make sure that you pay for this one, friend, she thought. She bit her lip. The young man disliked her now just as a person. Knowing who she really was would make it worse; her quest would be a failure. She'd hardly interacted with anyone yet.

So, the doctor simply smiled in response to his glare, then with a quick wrist movement, she stuck her knife into the table.
It made contact with a loud 'THDUNK.' Then, a pause. After that, she proceeded to fidget around with her mamed cat, humming to herself, an eerie melody.

"Sure about that? Didn' know you knew what animal y'got." That was when Gaius made his mistake. Zach practically bristled, unconsciously getting into a defensive pose with wings wide and frill open.

Baldy!?

Zach could feel blood flushing his already-reddish face, fueling his anger. He reached toward the table once more to use it as leverage to get to his feet and give Gaius a piece of his mind (and perhaps a swipe of his claws), when he was interrupted by the loud thunk of a knife being slammed into wood. His brain was simply too boozed up to make sense of it all, but dropped all his thoughts of disemboweling and dissecting Gaius for more important questions, such as What the hell was that? Mystified, he turned his head to see Ginerva looking rather distracted by her costume accessory.

Gaius was ready for Zach, glaring heatedly at the rising dragon, when a sudden movement caught his attention. He glanced aside just in time to see the knife - the one he'd thought to be a prop - dig into the tabletop. Quite effectively, at that.

He stared for a moment as his brain registered what he'd seen, then slowly looked up at the woman playing with her creepy mauled toy. Something was really not right with that lady.

"You know what? Fine. You two have fun together. I'm not sticking around for this abuse."

Flashing Zach one last glare that the distracted dragon probably wouldn't notice, Gaius edged away, then turned back for the drink table. He needed a refill and a chance to regroup before going back to Nita.

As he left, Ginerva laughed delightfully, in varying pitches and volumes. She pulled the bloody knife from the table.

"Well... that was fun. I am going to have to play with him again, soon.
Where do you find such chraming playmates, Zach?"

"By all meansss, go righddahead," he smirked, settling back down into the chair and eyeing her knife. A real knife, that big? That was certainly something. He didn't think they let the islanders have anything more dangerous than butter knives. His tail thrashed, betraying his anger. On some level he was glad his hearing wasn't what it used to be. That laugh, however infectious at times, was still quite abusive on the ears. "I asssume he crawled out've a hole sssomewhere..."

Perhaps bringing the knife wasn't the best of ideas. But, it was easily masked as a simple prop. It had done its job with Gaius, and now it could return to its inconspicuous state.
And it made such a splendid accessory.

She was alone again with the drunken dragon.
"Indeed. So much filth here. I don't know how you can stand it. I certainly wouldn't stand for subjects like him to even speak to me."

"Can't shut 'im up myssself. Not allowed to. If I do... anythin'... that'll be it for me. Moreau'll put me down jusss' like he wanted to." He swallowed hard, realizing that he'd completely forgotten that fact just minutes ago. He needed distraction. Fast. Zach eyed the knife again, then looked up at Ginerva. "So what'sss yer costume?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 30, 2006 1:52 am

Something panged in her. It was true, Doctor Duvert was still under Moreau, who obviously did not like Zach. Too bad.

Ginerva was rather proud of her costume, actually. She felt it was able to set her apart from the animals there. Even though she appeared as one herself.
"I am what you would call 'Goodbye Kitty,' killer of kitties, animals, and all things fluffy. So you're safe."

"That so?" He did like the costume. It seemed pretty real looking to him. Even the ears had had him fooled earlier. Could have just been all the alcohol he'd downed, but still. "Well, I've gota few choice fluffy people y'could ssstick with that big knife o'yours... Rexsss... Nita... chicken wingsss... no one'd miss 'em. Least, I wouldn't."

Ginerva's smile widened. "I like the way you think."

But, the party was only going to last so long. She was intent on seeing Zach again. Maybe ask him some more about Sabin. For now, however, she needed to continue scouting about more prey. As fun as Zach was, the prospect of inflicting the kind of mental pain she'd offered Aislinn was far too tempting.

"But, for now, my friend, I am going to have to leave you. I think it's time I scoped out the rest of this little hell-hole.

We will be seeing each other again, quite soon if I have my way."
She wanted so badly to tell him, but it wouldn't make a difference either way; he'd easily forget the next day anyway.

Her words all seemed to blend into each other and the other sounds from the party, making Zach lose focus. She wanted to go, that much he could tell. Zach waved as she left, then yawned, folded his arms over the table to make a headrest of sorts, and promptly passed out.

Oz had beat a hasty retreat after Richard's supposed 'tentacles' had flung across the room. He didn't believe that for a second. This was Halloween after all. What did he take him for, a complete idiot? And that Nita girl was no better - saying her tail was attached. Honestly. Yeah, it was attached to her COSTUME. And the plethora of new guests just seemed to confim Oz's thoughts - these people were all a little loopy. He hoped the rehab process wouldn't make him this strange.

It was about this point in the evening that Oz was beginning to feel the strain on his nerves and his confidence. When he used to drink, he couldn't care less what people were like or what they were into, because it just didn't matter as long as times stayed fun. But here he was, thrust into this new place with people he didn't know and who didn't know him. His eyes kept glancing guiltily over to the alcohol on the drinks table, eyeing up the bottles of spirits as though they were naked women out to lure him. He tapped his foot frantically, just as he had done on the helicopter ride. No, he couldn't!

Thats it!

He forced his gorilla head mask back on his head in frustration and got up to stalk around the food tables some more. The main disadvantage of the mask had now become an advantage for Oz - he couldn't see the alcohol that tempted him so.

Sayuri swayed a little, the music having finally found the entertainer within. She stood near the end of one of the buffet tables, eyes shut as she moved, arms undulating and her hips swaying. The only reason she was being so brave in doing this was because no one was around for the moment; at least she hadnt seen anyone yet.
She turned, shimmying on the spot, her tail flicking from side to side as she danced, lost in rythmn and motion.
