Yet another day.

Let's see, rejection hurts, I scheduled my tattoo appointment, and people who post in misplaced topics around LI still piss me off. But at least I get to report them for it if it becomes bad enough.

Which tattoo are you getting?

The chinese symbol for hope. It will be near my wrist.

Perhaps once I have it done I will take a pic to post around here somewhere.

Photobucket Hurricane Crisis Photos

I took about three hours today to upload about three hundred pictures of the crisis. You might want to take a look.

We can't forget what happened to them. Have you really heard anything about the Katrina Relief Effort in a while?

Ugh...stupid house alarm. Keeps going off randomly. Loud noises don't make Soleq happy.

Those are some very good and moving pictures.

Although I haven't heard much about that massive tidal wave on the other side of the globe. Many times more people killed or displaced or losing everything they owned, and yet it doesn't matter because something happened here at home? Someone fill me in on that.

Also, on the subject of the Relief Effort, there was a public speaker for aiding it in my city last week, and my school is continuously raising money.

My school is doing fundraisers for Katrina. There are a lot of flyers around campus. 3nodding

I don't really know what other stuff is being done though. Unfortunately I don't always pay attention to the news. The only thing I have really read up on lately is the Bird Flu stuff.

And to Soleq: At least if it is your house, you can turn it off. I hate when neighbors go on vacation and their alarm goes off...

Yeah, well, it's a national holiday when Britney Spears starts poppin' out babies. I can sort of see (not really) an International issue kind of going off record but something in our own country with such devestation is pulled out of the top stories and almost the entire media just baffles me really. I actually finally saw something on it by MSNBC. Some famous reporter and he was answering a question about how we finally got our media back and he said "Because we got their before the government did. We saw everything before they could."

It just baffles and totally puts me in awe how the politicians can do this to us. I saw the local government the state government, FEMA, and Bush say stupid s**t like "Look, we can all play the blame game but let's leave that for later." They haven't blamed anyone. They haven't done anything. Congress doesn't even seem to be able to pass a federal budget and nobody can give me s**t about that because I know they can't. I just watched about a 2 hour episode on C-SPAN.

The crappy thing about this is it seems like it's going to be like 9/11. I mean, I bet you half the people in a year are going to forget the administration took 5 days to respond to something like this. 5 days. Then comes out with a discouraging speech on September 16 (I think it was). Yeah, sounded good until you're like, "Hah, yeah, like he's going to do any of that." Seems like I'm right.

But hey, Mr. Moral Valued Pro-life Bush is doing a good job. How the hell can you call yourself Pro-life when you pull s**t like that?

I hope a Democrat gets in soon because this guy doesn't seem to be doing anything right. I've even asked people and they can't tell me, that's pretty pathetic.

I mean, does anyone know like one thing?

All I have to say is, ******** FEMA. It took those assholes 2 months to tell me that they couldn't help me. And why can't they help me? Because my stuff was in a storage shed instead of a residence. So I'm just SOL apparently.

Also, ButterBalls, if you'd like to add my own personal hurricane photos to your album, you certainly may.

I noticed you had a lot of New Orleans photos, but not many Mississippi photos. These photos of mine were all taken in Gulfport, Mississippi on Sept. 17th by me. They are my photos, but you may use and distribute as you'd like as long as I am given some sort of credit.

Also, not to nitpick, but these:

Are actually ooooooold pics that have been circulating around the internet for years. They're not of Katrina, but of random other storms and tornados. Just thought I'd let ya know. Those particular pics are even spoken about in Photobucket's forum and several people debunk them. Just wanting to make sure you have accurate stuff! 3nodding

Yeah, it really doesn't surprise me. Didn't the media come out with something like, "The FEMA director/president didn't have any credentials." Now, if the media said it like that you know it's at least 2 times worst so why would someone with such an important job have no credentials like that?

Yeah, I'll upload those, but the main emphasis of mine was to really just get an overall look of what happened throughout the two or three main months of this thing. Not really any specifics.

Yeah, I know, but they were cool so I put them in there. I should probably take them out though because they don't represent the right album. I remember seeing someone who captured it on tape. Kinda cool how the winds were going and everything. Not that it wasn't devestating.

Yeah, that's a good thing but I was really talking about the governments involvement. I know schools and communities are doing things about it. All the people donating to help and everything. My school just did a fundraiser for the victims with a little Martigra thing.

Eh, I'm not looking too much into bird flew right now because it's killed 16 or so people in Southeast Asia. It seems like it's going to be like the New Anthrax or something. It's something to definitely consider but at this point I don't really feel it's going to cause mass destruction with numbers of 16 people. I have read enough about it though. I read the newspaper every day in a reading period that we get, so.

Yeh, the last FEMA person I spoke to blatantly told me that the previous FEMA representatives I spoke to were still "in training" and didn't know what they were doing. So I was like, "That's just great. Get someone's hope up for two months thinking they're going to recieve some help, only to be told later that they have been speaking to incompetants the whole time."

So yeh, FEMA is a bunch of rampant dumbasses. I know some people who lost NOTHING, but have recieved 6k in cash, but I lose everything and get no help because my stuff was in a storage shed. It's bullshit. Yes, it was all insured, but it could be MONTHS before I see any insurance money. What am I supposed to do until then? FEMA damn sure doesn't care.

Anyway, I like your photo album. I'm glad you took the time to put it all together. I find, that overall, it *is* a good representation of the disaster.

It's sad to see though that so many people aren't taking it seriously anymore. I had some n00b on another forum site smart off the other day about how Katrina victims don't deserve ANY help becuase "you knew the hurricane was coming. You should've left." Cause everyone has LOADS of spontaneous travel money just sitting around and a working car, and people to go stay with rolleyes . Asshat.

Not that it's a good thing but if you look at the positive side of it, it can be a good thing. It'll get the Republicans out of office in 08' hopefully and maybe they'll start getting some compotent people in FEMA because there was so much press on it. It doesn't seem like it though. Doesn't seem like the president gives a damn about the issue really.

Yeah, that was actually a thought I had a long time ago when the victims of Katrina got $2,000 Debit cards and I thought it was cool at first but then I was like, "What about the people who had everything and some who had nothing?" Then I saw people trying to steal the donated money. If I remember correctly the person was some whiteboy that was well off. Kind of makes you sick to see how disgraceful our society is to make a quick buck. I don't know about the money issue though. You get screwed but I'd say it's the best way right now. I mean, they can't give out more or less depending who you are right? I don't know, don't know too much about that.

Yeah, I went to a lot of sites. Some of the sites had like 100 pictures and I would go through all of them.

Well, yeah, but you gotta realize that some people are really just stupid, in general. Then you have to take into account that it's the internet and people say things, then you have to take into account how old they are, mature they are, knowledgeable. I mean, I even say stuff like that, but that's just when I'm joking about it. I know every single person couldn't have gone out there. Plus, it'd be like Earthquakes in California. Plus, we don't have enough money to leave town, let alone probably leave the state every time one of them comes.

I think the main scare with the bird flu is that it will mutate into a form transmittable from human to human. Because then we have a possible pandemic on our hands. I do know that we do not have many vaccinations prepared if it were to come to America (something like 4 million) and it is very costly and time consuming to make it, and I heard someone say (though I don't know if this is true) that the only way they can detect it is after the human/bird is dead. So when you take a virtually undetectable (?) disease that spreads through contact/air and we don't have a ready source of cures, I think it might be bad.

Ditto. Also, it is supposed to hyperstimulate the immune system or something, which means the most likely group to die are within the 15-25 age group (aka best immune system). I don't think there is a vaccine or anything either, and there definitely isn't a cure.

Well, yeah, that's the natural scare. I don't think the US could even handle that right now.
