Erisad Sigh....Our sax section will have no seniors in it next year....all juniors. gonk We'll have two seniors marching and one playing bari for concert season. Besides that, it's two juniors (including myself), two sophomores and one on tenor, and I think four freshmen.

All of the seniors we had left this year sucked, but we Logan (a sophmore) and I (junior) are really good, and we have a lot of other really good players. I don't really think that Seniors define "best muscian."

STARWARSFAN excuse me , whats the highiest alto sax note ? That's kinda hard to say, but the upper pitch limit is simply a function of the highest mode of vibration that can be produced by the reed. It's considered limitless but in a practical sence you can go about five octaves.

I believe that he is asking for the notated range of the alto.
Ok.
It depends on your alto. Standard saxophones go up to the high F. However, optional keys allow some alto's to get a high F#.
There is this thing called Altissimo that allows you to expand upon the range and go much higher, but the true "range" is Bb to F or F# (for bari saxes, it can go to a low A)

I was playing bari for jazz band and I was like, "I love this thing, I get to play the low A! It's such a beast!" then he played around for a moment and somehow played it on his alto.
Ruined my fun. gonk

I'm terrible at low notes. Amazing playing them on the bari, but it's difficult for me to go lower than a D on alto. Mostly because the music is usually in some low dynamic level. I'm hoping that a non-student-model-saxophone will help with that a little bit.
