I've been playing trombone for... A month and a half, and I had my tonsils taken out in the middle of that span. I had tryouts yesterday for marching band and oh yeah. I have the school's stradivarious. It was donated just this year. Last year in marching band, I did pit and it didn't go so great, but during concert band, I play oboe. Oh, and I play flute on my own.

So, what mouthpiece would you recomend for me?

I play alot of instruments in band because my mom, 3 aunts, my dad, and a couple of cousins were in band so they give me their insrtuments so I learn them when I'm bored, I go out and buy the books and all that or I will get reeds and mouthpieces for christmas and b-day or another instrument here are the ones I own( the ones with a smile next to it I know how to play it!!)

hehe, been awhile since I've said hi to everyone!

man, what a huge shift..section leader in the lowest band in my H.S. (technically, it's the middle band, but the people in there really suck and they get out-played by freshmen) to 2nd chair in top band. how's that for crazy.

Glad to see more trombone players! So many more of us! *loves allllll the other 'boners forevahz*

Hi guys...I've already posted in the trumpet section, so I figured I'd post here too...I just started playing Trombone in um...January I think....I'm completely self-taught, but I actually think I'm pretty good considering. It's my first bass clef instrument (I still haven't gotten the hang of seeing a C being called an E), so I still have to write in all my slide positions, but I can play pretty fast and pretty high since I'm used to a smaller mouthpiece.

I'm the only trombone in my band right now, and all we have for "low brass" is a baritone sax, two bass clarinets, two tenor saxes, a french horn and a euphonium that plays the baritone part...(kinda funny that most of our "low brass" is actually made up of reed instruments...>.O)

...and that's about it...heh...

Wow...you must have some awesome arms after lugging those around...I was having enough issues when they tried to start a marching band at my middle school and I had a french horn to carry...but that's like a piccolo compared to a sousaphone...

Hi! Wow, no longer the only self-taught trombonist here! I started playing Jan of '05 and I *still* write in slide positions! Don't worry..eventually all C's will fade into E's..heck, been playing a year and a half and I still think a Bb's a G! (started off on Sax, btw, so I know all about that treble-bass note thing, lol) Be warned though, playing high isn't really a good thing on a trombone..cuz you don't normally get above a Bb (treble G)

Seeing as high school is now forever done for me, I need to start looking for other musical outlets.

The college I'm going to gives $100 and 1 credit to their peeps in marching band.. but it's not competitive. Lame.

If I march, I must compete.

But there are many on-campus bands that I'll need to try out for.

Any of you rad college band nerds have any advice?
