Part of C.T. was glad for Esther honestly, they had found her powers so quickly and while she was hesitating to use the word "easily" because of what had happened when they did indeed find the girls powers, but the process hadn't exactly been something that C.T. could call hard. Esther had literally seemed to just stumble across it. "Hide and Seek just got a million times easier for me," "You ever do that to me again, there is no telling what I might do to you." C.T. threatened, though she wasn't seriously meaning to do Esther any harm at all, and it reflected in the light manor in which her words were delivered. But there was a bit of a strain there. She did in fact want to tell Esther to never slip in to the plain on the other side of the glass ever again, but she knew that she couldn't demand that type of control over her girlfriends abilities. Because although it indeed was a very scary ability to have, it was still a beautiful thing, and she'd be evil to even try forbid Esther from exploring her new found abilities. "Let's at least try and figure out how it works better, before we ok it for recreational use." That didn't mean she wasn't going to be the overprotective girlfriend though.

Esther smiled gently and nodded. She was so excited now, and all she wanted to do was explore, test the limits of her abilities, and return to that world beyond the mirror. It was probably for the best that C.T. would be the voice of reason, keep Esther from doing too much too soon. Baby steps. That included taking a break; Esther had the feeling that if she tried to enter that mirror again, C.T. would kill her or have a heart attack or both. None of those outcomes appealed to Esther right now. Brushing C.T.'s bangs from her eyes and cupping her face, Esther pressed her lips to her girlfriend's for a sweet kiss. "Don't worry so much," she said playfully. "You won't be getting rid of me that easily. I promise."
"Ewww! Gross!"
Giggling from another part of the shed alerted Esther to the twins' presence. Leisha was peeking through a gap in the stack of furniture while Leon remained quietly at her side. They both ran off when Esther spotted them--well, Leisha ran, and Leon ran, too, only because his twin sister was dragging him by the arm.
Esther grinned and grabbed C.T.'s hand. "I think you won the game, Leisha," she called, exiting the shed.

"I can't help but worry about you." C.T. said a bit under her breath as Esther pulled her out of the shed and into the light of day, it was a bit surprising to see how bright it was outside again after they had spent all that time inside that dark dusty shed. C.T. had all but forgotten about their little game of hide and seek until Esther mentioned that Leisha had won the game. Guess that meant that Leon didn't find her. C.T. looked over to the boy who just shrugged at her, C.T. returned the gesture and she supposed she'd keep their teaming up a little secret for now. No need to give out their strategies when they could always save them for later. Speaking of storing secrets for later. "So where were you hiding Leisha?" C.T. asked, curious. However it was clear that Leisha wasn't going to tell her by the look that she gave C.T. That's a secret Connie, if I tell you, I won't be able to use that spot again." the girl said, and C.T. raised her hand in surrender. "Ahhh, your right I forgot. Sorry sorry." C.T. said, guess she should of known better. "Kids it's time for your snack, go wash up okay?" C.T. heard her father calling from the kitchen, Leisha took Leon by the hand and lead him inside again, she was always leading him somewhere it was honestly very sweet. Though it made her wonder how lost he would be if he didn't have Leisha to help him out. Probably not too lost honestly, he had a lot more brothers and sister to take over the role if need be. "So.... I guess we are done here?" C.T. asked Esther, referring to the little game of hide and seek, and only that.

Esther chuckled as she watched the twins leave with their father. This was a family of strong women, that was for sure.
She glanced to C.T., catching on to the hint. Or what she assumed was a hint. Esther began to feel jittery again, out of both excitement and anxiety. On the one hand, she was nervous about doing more with her powers because she still didn't fully understand what exactly they were, what the rules were, what the limitations were. It was dangerous. But she was excited, too. "There was a mirror in your room, wasn't there?" she asked, heading into the house and toward the stairs. She looked back at her girlfriend. "Do you remember when you were first figuring all of this stuff out?"

"Yea there was a mirror." C.T. nodded, following behind Esther, she didn't know how she felt about releasing her girl back into the void so soon after she got her back out, but she supposed finding out how all of this worked sooner rather than later was a good thing. "Do you remember when you were first figuring all of this stuff out?" "If you mean my powers, then yes I do remember figuring them out. But it was nothing like what you are going through now." C.T. said. She was in a bit of a tough spot, Esther knew what she had been through yes, but it was still hard for her to just out and say what she had experienced to the girl. She didn't want to make Esther sad. "The healing component to my powers is automatic, my body just does it. So when I was taken, they put me through a series of stress test. Testing the limits of what I could heal to an extent. My further mastery of my power, came from me learning to defend myself." C.T. said quickly, just trying to rush through her explanation and keeping it as brief as possible.

Right, of course. Esther shouldn't have asked, knowing where C.T. grew up, and she could see that C.T. was speeding through the details. Despite C.T.'s best attempts to keep the story brief, Esther still felt her heart ache. The response was appreciated, though, and this showed in the understanding smile and gracious nod she gave her girlfriend.
Reaching their room, Esther closed the door behind them and walked over to the mirror. "C.T., if you want, I'm okay to do this on my own at first," she said. "Save one of us some anxiety." It was an out, in case C.T. wanted to take it. She doubted C.T. would, and Esther honestly didn't want her to, but it was there regardless. "Oh, also..." After rummaging through a desk drawer, she found two pieces of paper and two pens. She handed C.T. one of each. "Just in case," she explained. "I couldn't hear you while I was in there, and I'm guessing you probably couldn't hear me, so we can communicate this way if need be." She folded her paper and put it in her pocket, then ran a hand through her hair. "So I guess I should just start with going back and forth, maybe?"

"Yea, as if." C.T. said with a roll of her eyes as she entered the room with Esther. "If you honestly think I would just leave you to do this by yourself, then you don't really know me as well as I thought you did." C.T. said, though she sounded disappointed she wasn't being serious. "Besides the anxiety would be worse if I wasn't here, then I would just have to leave everything up to my imagination." C.T. added with a bit of a shiver for good measure. That out the way, Esther seemed to move on very quickly, grabbing pen and paper from the dresser in the room, so that they could communicate. "Good thinking" C.T. nodded, she hadn't even thought of how they would be able to communicate until now and she was glad that Esther had thought of something before it was too late. C.T. took her pen and scribbled a bit of a message on the paper, and folded it, she wasn't going to show Esther until she was on the other side of the glass. "So I guess I should just start with going back and forth, maybe?" C.T. nodded. "Yeah, I guess so. Almost makes me wanna tie a rope around you, even though I know I won't be able to pull you out if things go wrong."

When C.T. mentioned tying a rope around Esther, Esther thought at first that her girlfriend was going somewhere else entirely. She blushed when she realized that she had been mistaken. You just have a dirty mind, the voice in her head scolded. Clearing her throat, she managed a somewhat strained, "Y-Yeah, that's clever." She meant it, though. Being bound to this side of the world by a rope would make her feel a little more secure. "Honestly, though, we don't know that it doesn't work that way."
Taking in a deep breath, Esther approached the mirror. Alright. It was time. She pressed her hand against it... and nothing happened at first. Clearly there was a right mindset for doing this, and she still needed to figure out what it--oh, wait. It worked. Passing through onto the other side was like passing through a doorway; if you weren't looking, you'd miss the experience (or walk into a wall). Esther turned around and smiled and waved at C.T., just to confirm the fact that she was okay.
There were more windows here, causing there to be more light, but the atmosphere was, otherwise, the same. Esther circled around the window she had come through, discovering it was the same on the back as on the front. Pulling out her paper, she scribbled on it and showed it to C.T. with a mischievous grin: It's so cool. We could totally use it to hide from Mag if I figured out how to bring you with me.

C.T watched with bated breath as Esther slipped into the mirror. She had to resist the urge to reach in and pull the girl back halfway through the process, simply for the fear of accidentally causing her harm. She calmed considerably however when Esther was on the other side of the glass and was waving back at her, perfectly fine from what C.T. could see, Connie smiled faintly and waved back. Still a bit nervous but it wasn't like she was going to have a panic attack or anything like that. She watched Esther shift around a bit, seeming to look around the space, C.T. couldn't see what the girl was looking for, but she seemed to be enjoying her exploration, which was good, C.T. was glad that she was enjoying what she was finding. C.T. watched Esther scribbling her note, for a moment finding herself disappointed that she couldn't hear the girl's voice, but getting over her discomfort in favor of reading what Esther had written down. It's so cool. We could totally use it to hide from Mag if I figured out how to bring you with me. C.T. gave a bit of a smirk and nodded, she wondered now if she could go in there with Esther, it really would make a good hide away for a little while if they needed to be alone. "You think you'd be able to drag someone else in there?" C.T. wrote her question down quickly, though she knew Esther hadn't figured it out yet, she'd be willing to give it a try. She was truly interested in the complexity of her girlfriends new found abilities.

Esther shrugged. She jotted down a response: Worth a try. It's actually pretty romantic in here. Still grinning, Esther winked. Then she added one more message: I'm going to explore a little more. She wanted to give C.T. a heads-up in case C.T. lost sight of her. Pocketing the paper, Esther began wandering around. The other windows, all varying in sizes, shapes, and placement, showed her different angles of the room. Were there other mirrors in their room that Esther hadn't seen? Hm. In the distance, the fog lingered. Esther wasn't sure why, why it seemed to get denser and darker the farther back it went, and she wanted to find out, but she needed to control her curiosity.
Maybe ten minutes later, Esther returned to the window she had come through and smiled at C.T. Still here, she was trying to say. Pulling out the paper again, she wrote: Throw a blanket over the mirror. I want to see what happens.

It was hard for C.T. to be patient when Esther wondered away from her line of sight, she took to pacing and even biting her nails while she waited anxiously for her return, but when the girl did return, ten minutes or so later smiling and giddy, C.T. couldn't help but smile too, Esther's good mood rubbing off on her. She was now pretty confident that Esther was safe in that world. It seem to be her own, and Connie was glad for it. However as soon as C.T. became confident of Esther's safety, that confidence was thrown away just as fast when Esther asked C.T. to throw a blanket over a mirror. C.T. was no scientist, and she wasn't 100% sure how light and reflections worked, but she was pretty confident that with no light mirrors didn't work. She wasn't sure how much Esther's abilities required light to work. "I don't think that's a good idea." C.T. scribbled quickly, but she didn't hold up her message just yet, she thought it over for a moment. Before crossing it out, in favor of holding up the message she had scribbled down before. "Stay safe love." it read, and with a sigh, C.T. grabbed the blanket from her bad, gave Esther one last fleeting look, and covered up the mirror.

With how quickly C.T. had reacted to her request, immediately scribbling on the piece of paper, Esther was sure C.T. was going to refuse. It was a bad idea, and Esther could already tell that C.T. didn't like it. But it surprised Esther when her girlfriend held up a different message instead: stay safe, love. She had had a change of heart. Esther met C.T.'s eyes and smiled, appreciative of this opportunity, thinking this was just one of the countless reasons why she loved C.T.; and she held her girlfriend's gaze until the blanket was thrown over the mirror.
Because then she was gone.
With the lack of light came a lack of a reflection and a lack of a window. The blanket consumed the portal, and now Esther was staring at empty space. She reached out, wondering if the window was still there even if she couldn't feel it, but nope. Nothing. Esther frowned a little, disturbed by this finding, even if it made sense. When she entered this world, she thought, she would just need to be mindful of who was on the other side. She took another lap around the other available windows, peeking through them and memorizing their perspectives so she could find them when she got out, seeing C.T. with the blanket-covered mirror. She ended up back at the start to wait patiently for the portal to be uncovered again, so she could step through and back into C.T.'s side of the world.

C.T. gave it two minutes, and that was all she was going to give it. She removed the sheet from the mirror, because for one she couldn't stand not knowing what was going on behind it, and two, she wasn't going to take any more chances than she had already taken by allowing Esther to talk her into covering up the mirror in the first place. She could see Esther standing on the other side of the mirror and she seemed safe, so that was good. Taking a step back Connie gave Esther some room in case the girl wanted to exit. "Are you ok? What was it like." She held up her piece of paper, the message she asked having already been written out. She couldn't wait, even if Esther was going to come out the mirror, she just had to know as soon as possible, and that extra time that asking the girl verbally when she exited the mirror would have killed her.

(Happy Valentine's Day! ^^)
Esther smiled and gave C.T. a thumbs-up. She was okay. She was fine. More than okay and fine, even. She jotted down the rest of her response and held it up for C.T. to see: The window disappeared. I couldn't go through it. But I was fine. Watching C.T. on the other side... Maybe it was the rush of emotions she was feeling seeping through into her love life, or maybe it wasn't--it probably was a little of both--but she was just suddenly so glad to have C.T. in her life. More so than usual, anyway. This all clearly made C.T. nervous, but she was supporting Esther, giving her the room and encouragement that she needed to figure this whole confusing and exciting mess out. Esther wasn't sure how she would feel about discovering her powers if C.T. wasn't there. God, she would just be so lost.
Esther turned over her paper so she had a clean side and wrote down another message. When she held it up, it read in large, thick-lined letters, Marry me, Connie. After a second, Esther thought of something else to add, and when she had jotted it down, she raised it with a grin, (I'm not coming out until you say yes.)

"Alright so we know you need light for it to work." C.T. had expected that, but confirmations were always more valuable than hunches. Though still knowing that Esther's was safe also wasn't the same as having her here on C.T.'s side of things and she wanted her out. She was going to scribble down a note suggesting that they take a break but Esther was already writing so she would wait for the girl to finish. Marry me, ConnieThe note read, C.T. didn't answer instead she took the opportunity to let her jaw nearly hit the ground. She loved Esther very much yes, but the thought of marriage had never came to her mind really. She didn't think Esther would want to. But C.T. was soundly proven wrong. I'm not coming out until you say yes.C.T. shook her head with a laugh, and began scribbling down a note in reply. 'You don't have to force me to marry you, of course I'm going to say yes, I already gave you a ring remember?' C.T. asked referring to the promise ring she had given Esther a few days before.
