Shoneah opened her mouth to protest, but she was so shocked by the list of things Miyuki was insisting they get that no sound came out. She had no idea how they would pay for all those things, and the part of her that had been raised to earn things wanted to protest Miyuki buying her anything at all.

But she was smart enough to realize that she would need at least some things if they were going to be traveling for a long time, and she sighed.

"Do we really need all of those things?" she asked instead, wondering how much of it was really necessary. "I already have weapons, a bag, clothes and boots ..."

Which left a brush (one item for which she would be grateful; the bone-carved brush she was currently using was all right, but she hadn't had good tools to carve it so it wasn't the best) and a coat or cloak which even she wouldn't protest getting, as she knew the warm weather they'd been experiencing would change eventually.

Even if she didn't know just when that would be.

Miyuki gave Shoneah a look, "You have one set of clothing, there is no way it'll survive several years of traveling, and we'll be going further north eventually. You'll freeze without proper gear. Mom wants you to have either a sword or proper fighting knives, she says in a large fight you won't have time to reload a gun and bullets run out."

The kitsune then looked over at Eron and gave him a sort of pitying look.

"And... mom said that while you're learning Earth magic, she would prefer you at least use a staff. So you're going to be stuck with staff lessons from either her, ada, my uncle or myself. Sorry about that, but some of these places can get unfriendly. We're going to see about a metal staff because it'll give you a better connection to the earth."

"Oh..." Eron blinked and wondered if he should be worried.

"As for the bag, if you want to keep your bag fine, but let me rune it so it can carry all you need," Miyuki insisted, "Otherwise there's no way you'll be able to carry all of that without being bogged down. As for the hobby item, while we will be traveling, there will also be periods we'll be in place like this. Though not as long as we're staying here, this is a different case because Kyrie hasn't seen her husband in years so that's why we've been here so long. Still, you both need something to do when we settle, to keep busy, otherwise you'll get restless."

"I have a sword, I just keep it in the tent," Shoneah sighed, resigning herself to the fact that she was going to be greatly indebted to Miyuki before the day was out. "With my guns and my hunting knife on me I figured it would be fine there."

And if Miyuki wanted to put a rune on her bag, well, that was fine with her. It would make things a lot easier, that was certain.

But as for a hobby item ... she had absolutely no idea what she might get for that. Her life had always been learning, surviving, moving, and passing on her knowledge. What else was there to do? What could she do here?

"Well, unless you want me to bring something other than what I've already got on, I'm ready," she said listlessly.

"Nope, just yourself," Miyuki replied, "And good, then we can just focus on Eron's staff."

Slowly getting up and brushing himself off, Eron thought Miyuki looked a bit too happy for all of this. Then again, he had always heard shopping was a girl thing (not that he would know).

"Let's go," Miyuki motioned, "It's going to take a while."

Turning, she then called out asking if anyone wanted to join them.

It turned out Andarien was the only other person interested in accompanying them, though of course he wasn't interested in shopping for supplies: he wanted to find out if there was somewhere he could do his metalworking in the city. Even after being there for weeks, he hadn't found a place; but he wasn't willing to give up.

He didn't want a train of Pokemon following them from shop to shop, though, so he took along Ponydash, reasoning that he could recall him to his Pokeball when they went into the shops, and that he could help carry things if it became necessary (which he was sure it wouldn't, considering Miyuki's bag was runed).

He told Eon, Kaede and Zeus not to leave camp (making this especially clear to Kaede, who had a tendency both to wander and to get lost) and then he was ready to go.

Shoneah wasn't sure how she felt about Andarien coming with on this little excursion for two reasons. First, because she was still unsure how to act around him, and secondly, because he had been the one who had not reacted well when he'd seen her eating the heart of the animal she'd hunted the week before.

Still, she wasn't going to say anything. She was indebted to these people so much already, it would be unacceptable to speak out.

Miyuki also had her Pokemon stay behind, simply because it was easier that way. She didn't foresee any trouble while they shopped and having Suki there to play with Kaede generally kept the both of them out of trouble.

Heading into town, Miyuki explained the plan.

"We're going to head to the tailor's first, simply because I don't know if they have the furs we need for your winter gear, if they don't we'll have to go hunting to supply those furs. That's what Kyrie did for us before we left Caras Galadhon."

At Miyuki's mention of hunting, Shoneah's eyes flickered towards Andarien to see how he would react.

Andarien didn't make the same connection she had. He was grinning at his sister. "I bet you didn't check to see if they still fit you since you grew in Dekra," he grinned at her.

Miyuki blinked and then hit her forehead with her palm. She had completely forgot, thank goodness Andarien was there to reminder.

"You're right..." she groaned, "And they probably don't, I grew another inch or two didn't I? I'm much taller than mom now..."

Still, she didn't want to waste such clothing and they hadn't been used.

"I'll ask the tailor while we're there to see if the clothes can be salvageable with an inch or two of extra height. No one would buy them, they all have openings in the behind for my tails...."

So she couldn't just resell them to other people.

"Why don't you ask Aunt Iorlas if she could do something about it, too?" Andarien suggested, feeling bad now that he'd been laughing on the inside when he'd brought it up. "She's been practicing her tailoring, she might be able to help."

Besides, she would first have to try on the clothes to see whether they even needed any altering or not.

The city wasn't far, and was already coming into sight ahead of them.

"Or we could go back and you could quick try them on before we go to the city," he added logically. "Save having to go back again."

Miyuki thought about it, on one hand she didn't want to but Andarien was being logical about it.

"Do either of you mind if we head back of a quick check?" Miyuki asked.

Eron, who was use to stage growing children (he had heard of the complaints of them growing too quickly out of their clothes), shook his head.

"I don't mind at all," he told her.

"I'm in no rush," Shoneah agreed softly. "I may take the opportunity to exchange the bow I've been using, then."

While it did work, it wasn't the best bow for her, and if she could get one better suited for her, it would be better in the long run.

"Good," Miyuki nodded, "So it works out then."

She didn't like to make other people wait, but it was good to check as Andarien had said. If they were lucky, maybe they would run into Iorlas and Miyuki could ask her about the clothing.

They hadn't made it too far away from camp, so it wasn't a long trip back.

While Miyuki tried on her clothes, Shoneah grabbed her bow and quiver, leaving Eron and Andarien outside to wait for the two of them. Iorlas was outside with Amir, playing a game with him and a ball, and when asked she assured Miyuki that it would be quite possible to lengthen her sleeves and pant legs, though she would probably have to get new gloves, since that was a more specified fit.

Once that was done, the group was once more on their way to the city.

"Do you think it would be all right for me to take my bow into the tailor's?" Shoneah asked Miyuki cautiously as they made their way there. "I shouldn't bring them to the weapons shop first?"
PostPosted: Mon May 19, 2014 11:26 am

"Hmmm..." Miyuki paused and thought about, "You're right, we should go to the weapon shop first. Just because people tend to be a bit of suspicious of newcomers."

And she was sure that this was their first time in the town. So a lot of people will be wary at first.

"Well we've been here for several weeks," Shoneah muttered, "I don't know if that still makes us count as newcomers."

"We don't lvie here and we don't belong here," Andarien pointed out. "It doesn't matter how long we're here, we'll always be newcomers."

He pointed up the street. "Weapons shop is that way."
