Fiddling with the bait, Sophie tried to to it onto the line. It appeared to be rather slippery and shot out of her hands and plopped into the pond where it was quickly gobbled up by a pom.

Creeping forward on the ice, Sophie eyed the poms with interest, looking for those unusual colours she had seen on the previous days. Behind her came the sound of laughter and she turned in time to see a flash run past her legs. In her haste to get out of the way, she slipped and fell onto the hard ice.

Standing up and dusting herself off, she heard the sound of laughter once more and didn't even get a chance to turn around before the pom ran past and tangled up her legs, causing her to slip again. She crawled off the ice, picked up her pom and limped away.
