"And how would you know I can see that your not going to talk to him about it and I like to her this other reason but anyway our son is not a puppy anymore as much as I wish he still was he was so adorable but hes not and now hes king and he would never play around with something as serious as this the connection of all things why would he joke about that hes never really looked at a woman before so why now? and he has a lot more to worry about than you I mean did you get a good whiff shes very sick and your out here bullying her making it worst. Shame on you. Theresa said walking away from her mate and going into the house to wait.

Lark fear has just spiked higher as he said that couple was none other than his father and mother and his father already didn't like her and that made her both scared and sad at once because she couldn't figure out why he didn't like her she had just met him after all and she didn't know what to make of his mother she liked her which was a good thing but one her side what could that mean did she do something wrong and if so what. "Did I do something wrong is that why your father doesn't like me If i did do something to make him mad please tell him I'm sorry." she asked Devon while she laid back on her pillows and she reached out for his hand

Kaleb rubbed his eyes. He hated fighting with Theresa, and the woman knew it. He adored her. Much like Devon and Lark, they were opposite, but perfectly balanced each other.
He knew he couldn't do anything now. He wouldn't want to harm this girl that Devon cared about. And if he wasn't being stubborn he'd admit that her instinct had been good. You don't run from a predator. Of course he wouldn't admit it.
He followed after he wife, stone-faced. He'd behave himself for the moment.

Devon took her hand in his. And kissed it. "My father is an odd man. He does this for reasons even my mother has a hard time figuring out. But I can assure you, there is no need to apologize. You haven't done anything wrong. In fact, you were quite smart not to move while he growled at you. Running gets us excited." he told her bluntly. He flinched, maybe he shouldn't have said that. It would probably upset her.
"But never mind that. Rest. Are you warm enough?"

"I'm still a little cold Lark admitted sheepishly even while she felt her energy drain away and sleep beginning to take her under. "If I had been smart I would have called you instead of trying to wait for him to get tried of his little mind game because I think it was some sick wolf mind game of his but then I think that if I did move a figure that would have been my whole arm gone. But please don't start another fight with him please I don't like begin the reason for a fight just talk to him please." she asked him before giving out finally

Theresa was in the living room and parlor looking around and yes sniffing as well trying to get as much information as possible about what her son had been up to during their absence she was not above punishing her husband if he did not behave him self and started yet another bloody fight with his son that she would stand for not this time and he knew it. She didn't even glance his way when he came in the door. she just moved on to the kitchen to make something warm for she and her son to drink and trying to think of what home remedy would help Devon's mate feel better because she knew how her son could drive herself crazy with his worrying

Devon looked at her, his brows knit together. There was nothing he could really do for her, but keep her warm and call for the doctor. He gathered a few more blankets and placed them over her.
He would do as she asked. He wouldn't instigate a fight. And hopefully he could at least make a truce to whatever was eating his father. Which nothing else he could do he reluctantly left the room and headed downstairs.

Devon sat down beside his father a moment later, and looked at the same wall his father had been frowning at.
"Mind telling me what's going on?" he asked.
"That's some way to greet your father." he growled.
"Fine then. Hello, Dad. Good to see you. You know, besides that fact you threatened my girlfriend. But hey, it's not big deal." he answered sarcastically.
Kaleb snorted. "I have my reasons. I will admit I would have held off if I'd realized she was sick. Unfortunately she was down wind of me."
Devon rolled his eyes. "That doesn't explain why you threatened her."
Kaleb didn't answer.

Theresa was in the kitchen pulling things from the cupboard to the point where the nice modern kitchen started to look like a a medieval herb maker's kitchen not that it mattered she put on some tea and poured some sugar and syrup in two cups bringing one cup out for Devon handing it to him and kissing his forehead. "Kaleb don't lie to him you were right in front of her and could smell her so you would have been the first to know she was sick and talk to your son and tell him what the problem least I tell what I think you reason is." She before making her way into the kitchen and then getting to work on the remedy. Theresa was boiling some strong smelling vegetable and some sweet smelling ones all while sipping her tea and watching her boys listening in of course
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2012 8:09 pm

Kaleb crossed his arms. "She's not right for you." he grumbled.
Devon rolled his eyes. "Trust me. She is. As anyone could tell you, it's done wonders for my temperament the last day and a half." he chuckled.
Kaleb looked at him this time. "Day and a half?"
Devon would have hit himself if he could. "Things didn't start off smoothly. I wasn't as careful as I should have been at first. But things are fine now. But right now. I want you to know that I feel the connection. I could tell you what she was feeling if you asked. That is no lie."
Kaleb heard the truth in his voice. He grunted. "It not right. She is human."
Devon thought he caught something in his tone. He was sure that his mother had her it too.
"What is the real reason you don't like her?"
Kaleb was silent for a long time. "She's too fragile, Devon. We're werewolves. Our lives get mess and are harsh. You think she can handle that? I wouldn't think so with how frozen she was. She was too frightened to make a sound."
"You are testing her?!" he asked, barely holding in his anger. "You frightening to most of us! Or course she'd be scared. And she hasn't gotten over her first run in with that rogue were. Plus, I'll protect her. It will work out."
"Will it?" Kaleb leaned forward. "You need to be prepared for anything." He looked at his wife. "Things didn't always go smoothly when I found Theresa." That little flicker of warmth came into his eyes as he looked at his wife. Most thought that he was really cold even too his wife. But she alone really saw behind his hard exterior. "It will most-likely be worse for you. I can list a few problem I you hadn't thought of them. She'll die before your time. Our aging is different. If the connection wasn't so strong you'd out live her. She's fragile even more so around us. There's a reason I've tried to drill into you that humans are beneath us. Most can't handle our way of life. Is keeping her around what's best for you?"
Devon remained stone-faced so his father switched tactics. "What about her. Do you think it's best for her? You think she can handle this world you've thrown her into? How far did you think this through Devon? And if she die because you didn't have your guard up enough, you'd die too. And where would our people be? You know he repercussions of that."
At this Devon looked away to glare at the wall. He knew he was right about both of them. But he wouldn't let her go. He couldn't.

"Oh For gods sake Kaleb are you still whining about that!" Theresa shouted as she was in the kitchen still making her home remedy knowing both could smell it by now and the smell brought back very found memories. She poked her head on the door glaring coldly at her mate before looking at her son confused. "What do you mean by run in with a rouge did something happen and what do you mean it didn't start off smoothly for goodness sake tell us what happened how did you met her? What she like? What about her family?" it didn't take a rocket scientist to know that she was off on another romance bought but she did pause to consider what else her husband had brought up and that was the fact of that girl's mortality she wouldn't be able to live as long as wolves but she so wanted her son happy she knew there was remedy that her husband was too stubborn to see or even consider. "Your forgetting something if the connection is there that means she'll live awhile longer and you both have years ahead of you who knows we may even have grandchildren before to long and if not well that's why we have a second and third right it'll all work out." Theresa said as a comfort to her son to give him hope in that despite Kaleb's negativity

Kaleb rolled his eyes. He was just trying to make sure his son thought this through. The connection didn't solve everything. But he remained silent as he waited for Devon to explain the things that he had been wondering himself.

Devon sighed. He could refuse to tell, but he was going to anyway and his mother would have dragged it out if he had not.
"Well, Lark stumbled upon us on accident. It was during the meeting and well..." he went on to explain. Kaleb didn't interrupt. His wife didn't either for the most part. Only to get a few little details. It was sometime before he finished.
"That's why she's been sick. It was my fault. I was careless."

"Too bad you didn't ring her neck I wonder why Robin was so stuck on you your looks are to obvious you had that problem since childhood and your father's obliviousness as well I see you should have been paying more attention when Robin showed up she may not have been vocal about it but she was jealous not that you helped any but that can easily be fixed just take her somewhere she's always wanted to go and just make a holiday of it some alone time and when the time is right you ask her for her hand and marry her I've warned you about your temper didn't I we don't want you to turn out like your father because that would be a tragedy. Theresa payed no attention to the look Kaleb gave her then Devon she had just finished the remedy which was a home made soup that tasted better than tea.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2012 10:45 pm

Devon shrugged. "I wasn't in very good control of myself mom. Why Lark was like that I was barely keeping myself from flinging people around the room." he said in his defense to the temper remark. "And it's hard to lose it with her around. Plus, Dad's temper is more scary. I gets really silent and the temperature drops, and you feel as if death is creeping up on you." he stated, straight faced. It was exaggerating greatly as a joke to with her father actually growled something about no respect.
"I do plan on taking her some place, but I don't want to until she in no danger of a relapse and her immune system is strong." He breathed in deeply. "Which shouldn't take long if she eats nothing but that." he said with a smirk. He hadn't often never gotten sick, but when he did he remembered her brews. He could almost swear there was a magic potion in there or something.

"Sweetheart after awhile you'll understand that your father's temper is nothing more than a very loud child whining for mot getting his way. " Theresa said handing her son the brew in a thermos to take to her mate."Here this is for your Lark make sure she drinks it all right away understand. And next time please throw Robin out a window next time you see her or I will." and she said what she meant what gave her the right to claim her son when her son didn't want her if he had she would have had him by now not that she approved of the Secretary from the start . "and Devon I don't think it was just that rouge that scared her off strange wolves I think you and your father have had a hand in it."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2012 11:29 pm

Devon nodded guilty. "Yeah. I least I can make up for it." he said. He stood and kissed his mom on the cheek. "Thanks. I really appreciate this." He looked at the thermos. "I almost wish I could make it, but your herbs seem to be volatile under my hands."
Kaleb chuckled briefly. "Stunk up the kitchen for a week. Then repeated the incident at school on purpose."
Devon grinned. "That was a work of genius. Though... it back fired. I smelt it for longer than everyone else. At least to me it was less stinky more ...odd." he shook his head. Middle school had been a riot. High school was just torture.
Suddenly Kaleb sighed. "I'll try to get used to the girl--"
"Lark." his son corrected.
"-- How long should I wait to see her, before he doesn't quake in my presence."
Devon grinned. "Whenever she's not sick and sitting by me. Where are you to staying anyway. I have plenty of room if you want to stay here."

"Well of course their volatile you always use them for evil and it serves you right for that and sweetheart everyone quakes in your presence not just Lark beautiful name by the way. Now hurry and give it to her before it gets cold well talk afterward." Theresa scolded both men sitting down in the big easy chair. watching her soon go up stairs to his mate before looking at hers.

Lark was in bed sleeping with a full blown fever and heavy breathing that encounter had really pushed her over the edge to a relapse it wasn't as bad as before but it was still worrying because she hadn't really recovered for the last bout
PostPosted: Mon Oct 29, 2012 5:14 pm

Devon nodded and grinned before heading up to see Lark. She was still sleeping he was reluctant to walk to up. He wasn't sure if it was the best thing. Yet, she really should drink the soup while it was still hot.
Sitting down, he took her hand and squeezed it gently. "Lark?" he called her softly. "I've got something for you."

Kaleb returned Theresa's stared. After awhile he sighed. "I'm sorry, Theresa. I had to see if she was right for him.

Lark moaned softly stirring a little but not opening her eyes at all because it was to much of a effort for her and she was in the grips of a fever and her breathing was labored as well this was a full on relapse

Theresa grinned smiling knowing she had won yet again. "Well now you know that I'm right and now you can get our things."
