Kasiya couldn't help but feel awful when she saw the affect the story had on Mike's mom. She instinctively reached out to help steady the nice woman, but she'd already sank into a nearby chair. Kasiya sighed, wishing she could do more to comfort her, and for a moment, she longed for her own mother, wanting nothing more than to climb up in her lap and just sit there while she gently stroked her hair, like she'd done when she was little. A yawn started to escape her then, but it was cut off by a yelp as the light appeared, bequeathing Mike with what appeared to be an egg. She was so amazed by it that at first, she hadn't even realized Mike had awoken.

Flannery, on the other hand, refused to take her eyes off Mike as she stood there, arms crossed over her chest. The danger had long passed yet her body refused to shut down, even more so as the story of how Mike had received his new powers was relayed to his worried mother. Her unease was evident by the way she refused to make eye contact, and by the way she kicked at the cold, tiled floor with the toe of her shoe. At first she didn't even see the light that had appeared, but the odd noise made by Kasiya made her glance up, a rather panicked look on her face. "What? What is it?" she asked, now looking to where Kasiya was pointing at the egg, a rather untrusting expression now replacing her panic. "Where did that come from?" she demanded before being all but shoved out of the way by Karen as she raced over to the bedside, now realizing that Mike was awake. "Oh, Mike! Thank goodness," she sighed, feeling as though the boulder that had been pressing down on her chest had been removed.

The fact that Mike was awake now also brought a tremendous level of relief for Kasiya, though too many things were now running through her mind for her to actually form any words. She watched curiously as Mike seemed to be examining his egg, already in the process of opening her mouth to tell him that the egg had magically appeared out of nowhere, but the look Karen shot them was enough to shut her up and instead she just nodded quietly. Beside her, Flannery did the same as the two girls shared a look of confusion. The gym leader knew exactly how strict Mr. Summers was when it came to giving away eggs while all Kasiya could think of for the moment was the ever-strengthening Charmeleon that was waiting patiently back at Professor Oak's. That is, until Mike utilized his fancy fire-powers to give his little egg some help. "Hey, that's cheating," she giggled, though she already knew that if she was capable of such a thing, she would have done it too. The little candle Pokemon that was born soon after was so terribly cute that for a moment she forgot about where they were. "Oh, Mike! He's so cute, congratulations!" she cooed.

It was cute, but Flannery was more surprised than anything else by the appearance of this strange. "It's a Fire-type, right?" she asked, but before an answer could be given, the sound of something exploding could be heard, and right away, the gym leader was back on guard, looking toward the door expectantly, all sorts of wild theories now racing through her brain. Kasiya had cried out and fright and was now clinging to her, and though she was generally unhappy with the blonde lately, she went into protective-big-sister mode, putting an arm around her shoulder. She didn't know why, but she wasn't surprised when Keegan entered the room, looking shiftier than usual. He was dripping wet and covered in some sort of orange goo and she raised an eyebrow. "Hey?"

Kasiya was still very much on edge so the explosion had set off all sorts of fear responses, though the only thing she could do was cling to Flannery and tremble. When the redhead entered the room, right away she realized that she didn't feel relief, as she would have a week or even a few days ago. What she felt was dread, and it made her chest feel heavy. Seeing him only reminded her of how torn her heart was and she looked away, refusing to make eye contact with Keegan. "Hi," she said quietly, though she couldn't help but study the cute little dragon he appeared to pull out of nowhere. "Oh, wow," she said, trying to put aside her unease. "Where'd you get him? He's awfully cute."

Misty grinned when Train recalled her Raticate, bringing the both of them down to their last Pokemon. The last leg of gym battles always proved to be exciting and dramatic, and she was inclined to believe that this battle would not disappoint either. Starmie was looking in top shape today, its red core blinking expectantly as the blonde trainer released her last Pokemon, a Gloom. That made the redhead's smile falter, but she would push on; after all, the Mysterious Pokemon was half Psychic-type, and that would give them a good advantage over the Grass/Poison-type. She allowed Train to take the first move, since it was polite, and she commanded her Gloom to use Stun Spore.

"Oh no, you don't," Misty muttered, brows creasing at the prospect of her Pokemon being inflicted with a status so early in its battle. "Starmie, don't let that touch you! Use your Water Pulse attack to blast it back!" At first, the purple star made no response and then its core blinked once before it inclined back, facing the yellow spores that threatened to paralyze it. Without any visible sign of preparation, Starmie released a pulse of water that sent ripples through the pool, creating a wave and splashing the spores far from its being. She hadn't even made any move to attack Gloom, but Misty felt content with the move, knowing what a hassle paralysis can be in important battles like this. Her gaze focused back on Train, wondering if the girl would continue with more status moves. That was the real trouble with Oddishes and Glooms, the gym leader decided. In some ways, they were even more troublesome than Electric-types.

Amy gazed down at her egg as it hatched, revealing a dark-colored Pokemon that Riza's Pokedex helpfully identified as Sandile. The Desert Croc Pokemon gazed up at his trainer and growled inquisitively, tilting his head to one side. Then he tried to wriggle out from her grasp, looking hungrily toward her bag. The bespectacled girl wasn't sure what to make of the Ground/Dark-type, but she was broken from her thoughts when Riza brought attention to Karrigan's wounded hand, something she hadn't noticed in all of the excitement. "Oh no," Amy said softly, not particularly wary of the ice bear as she moved to help her friend, "oh, Karrigan, I'm so sorry." Sandile didn't seem alarmed by the change of events, trying to free himself from the brunette's grasp and get into her bag.

Amy glanced up as Riza introduced everyone, already knowing most of their little party save for Kasiya, to whom she offered a smile when her name was mentioned. The bespectacled girl hesitantly placed Sandile on the ground, watching him for a moment and wondering if he would run away, but finding that the crocodile only looked back up at her curiously, half-expectant that she had put him down to give him a treat of sorts. When they began to move, he obediently followed, snuffling along the ground in search of any nourishment he could find. As they walked, Amy placed a hand on Karrigan's shoulder, hoping to comfort her in some way, if only by being a familiar face. Only as they made it to the Pokecenter did she realize where Crenu had come from and that Riza had asked him how his match went. "So you were the person battling Surge before?" she asked him suddenly, realizing that she ought to heal her Pokemon before she challenged the gym. But that could wait; she wanted to make sure that Karrigan was all right first, and perhaps find out some answers about this strange event that brought all five of them newly hatched Pokemon that she had never even heard of before.

"Nee!" Cottonee cheered, little leaves wiggling in her excitement. Jade stared at the Grass-type with a small smile that seemed almost fond before looking back up at Jake's strange bird artifact thing. She resisted a childlish comment about how hers was cuter, but his looked more powerful anyways. The blonde retrieved his Pokedex and used it to help identify both of their Pokemon, revealing that Jade's was called a Cottonee. The information made the Grass-type seem impossibly more adorable, and as if on cue, a gentle breeze drifted by, threatening to pull Cottonee from Jade's sleeve. Being blown away didn't seem very fun, but neither did sticking to her sleeve. Gently, she pried the Cotton Puff Pokemon off from her clothes and handed her to Aquarius, who grabbed hold of her leaves and rested her on his head. Both of them appeared to like the arrangement; Aquarius was grateful for the shade Cottonee provided, and Cottonee liked to stick to the other Pokemon and liked to feel the sunlight. With a small nod, Jade looked back at her companion and agreed that they should move onward.

The trip to the sporting goods store passed by pleasantly, the eggs having been a good distraction for Jade from all of her worries. Seeing the baby Pokemon that had been bestowed to her made the girl smile to herself with the knowledge that it had been on purpose, that Cottonee belonged with her. They hadn't dawdled much at the sporting goods store, purchasing what they needed and passing without much incident, although the cashier checking them out had glanced inquisitively at the two newly-hatched Pokemon. On her way out, Jade thought she had seen a familiar face browsing amongst the fishing bait, but dismissed it as they left and continued onto Route 205.

"We made it safely across this time," she joked as they crossed the bridge over the small stream, the spot where the ground had crumbled into the riverbank a large and all too visible mark left by her own doing. She glanced at some trainers battling a few yards off, one of them using the otter-looking Pokemon that had helped them the other day while the other had a strange little bee Pokemon that was definitely not a Beedrill. As they trekked up to the elevated, rocky path, the raven-haired girl glanced back at Aquarius and Cottonee. "I think I'll call her Chloris," she decided quietly. Jade glanced at the blonde beside her. "What's your plan?" she asked. "For the gym battle, I mean. You have Grotle and Bibarel and Magnemite and now... Sigilyph." She tested the Pokemon's name on her tongue, trying to remember how his Pokedex had pronounced it. "Any idea who you'll use or lead with yet?"

Jett recounted the same tale Jasper had told him, trying to remember how exactly the older boy had phrased some of the things. Scarlet seemed quite impressed by it all, as he had expected. The dark-haired boy smiled a little at all of Scarlet's Pokemon, though Terumi still gave him pause, the way the ghost looked at him and pretty much everyone else. He glanced up as the redhead informed him about a close battle with another friend from Cherrygrove, noting the look in his friend's eyes.

"You'll get her next time," he said consolingly, knowing Scarlet to be an earnest battler and Cindy to be a strong Pokemon. Viy didn't seem half as friendly, just as wary of the Fire-type as he had been with the Rock-type that for all intensive purposes seemed to have disappeared. The little bug wasn't good at making first impressions, it seemed, but Jett didn't mind. With a team of Pokemon like Aerosmith and now Naja, getting ornery or unfriendly Pokemon seemed to be a reoccurring habit of his. He glanced down, finding Scarlet's team to be more friendly, since Halibel was easily welcoming Sledge into the group. Even Terumi was nicer towards Viy, who gazed blankly back at the grinning ball of gas and finally blinked, eyes opening a little bit more. "Veni," he grunted, not unkindly, and his feelers twitched towards the Gastly in some strange way of greeting. Jett observed this silently, a smile ghosting along his lips before he was called back to attention by Scarlet, who asked what he had done in his absence.

"Oh, I--" he began, suddenly realizing that his friend didn't know about Naja, either. "Viy wasn't the only Pokemon I got in my spare time, actually. I um... I caught an Ekans, over on the route we came from. She's really... uh... earnest." Satisfied with this description, he nodded, fingers brushing over the Pokeball that held his other Poison-type. "I hadn't done much else, other than train Aerosmith and Athena. Speaking of which, how did your training go? Are you ready to take on Bugsy tomorrow?" He had no doubt that his friend would do well, especially with Cindy and Terumi at his disposal. He glanced again at Halibel, wondering if Scarlet would try to use the Water-type or not. Sure, she didn't seem like much now, but the boy knew full well what sort of Pokemon she evolved into. His friend was certainly putting together a formidable team, while all he seemed to have was a team with the collective personality of his antisocial, cantankerous grandpa.

"I...think so?" Mike said in response to Flannery's shared confusion, his thought process cut off by the telltale 'thud' of a faraway explosion. In an instant he snapped to attention, his quizzical expression replaced by that of a cornered beast.

It's them! a ghost hissed. They followed us!

Coming for revenge on us. On your friends.

"Over my twice. Dead. Body." Mike snarled. His body began giving off so much heat that the machines began to whine as they tried to keep up. Still holding the little candle in one hand, Mike readied a flaming fist in the other as he glared at the doorway for whatever miserable soul was about to intrude on a room filled with people he was not going to see get hurt. Suffice to say, when the mystery intruder turned out to be Keegan, the tension was for the most part, relieved. "Keegan!"

Karen, who was too busy staring in disbelief at her son as his new-found abilities flared up, didn't notice the red-headed boy entering until Mike's cheerful greeting snapped her out of it. "Glad to see you could make it-" she began, then took a look at the boy's soaking, orange state. Her eyes narrowed. Mike, however, thought the entire thing was hilarious.

Pumpkin bomb.

"I know! What'd you do, blow up a toilet?" he said, giggling before bursting out into a fit of hysterical laughter. "HA-HA-HA-ow. Ow. OW!" Mike's happy fit was cut short by one of throat-wrecking coughs and black smoke.

"Take it easy, sweetie!" Karen pleaded, rubbing the boy's back.

"Pumpkin!" he said in between coughs.

"What?"

"I'm naming it Pumpkin!" Mike said, holding out the candle Pokemon. "I don't know what it is, but that's it's name." The Pokemon sort of wriggled in the boy's grip, all this excitement a bit overwhelming for something literally minutes old. "Thank you so much, Keegan." he said, eliciting another glare from Karen to the boy so he would let Mike have his little delusion. "But...what is it?" It was then he noticed the red head had his own bundle of joy with him. "And what is that?" he asked, spinning around Pumpkin to take a better look at him. The Pokemon stared back in equal confusion, not sure how to react.

Where is your PokeDex? a ghost asked. Or your things, for that matter? The shades that filled the room all began looking around for the boy's effects, but to no avail.

"I don't know." Mike said with a small pout. "Mom?" he asked somewhat cutely. "Where's my stuff? And my Pokemon?"

"Um," Karen turned to the children, Kasiya mentioning that the pink-haired girl in the lobby was holding on to it. "I'll be right back with them, honey. You kids look after him while I'm gone!" she said in a sing-song tone that had more than a hint of intimidation behind it.

Crenu eyed his new pokemon carefully as it hatched, his foot easing from its urge as he saw something that wasn't pink and fuzzy at all. A small blue grey pokemon with oval green eyes was floating there in front of him, looking up at him inquisitively before it hovered higher up to look at him at eye level. It had indentations on its head as well as black symmetrical lines on the front, over all it resembled an alien, oblong bead and everything and Crenu kind of wished he'd read more science fiction but shook the implausible notion from his thoughts. It had no mouth that he could see which brought fourth a few questions, but that meant it was quiet too and he liked that. Riza's pokedex chimed with information as she scanned all the pokemon in their little gathering, and his was identified as an Elgyem. "...Elgyem huh?" Based on its head to body ratio and the way it levitated, he gathered it to probably be a psychic type, but other options were possible as well. Before he could consult Riza's dex though the pokemon lifted it's hand for him to see, it had three different colored fingers that sort of looked like round marbles and hardly seemed adept for gripping. But their purpose became clear as they started to flash like lights, each finger light up one at a time in rapid sequence, with each one making its own unique sound that while similar definitly had a distinct pitch. Their order seemed random to him but the pleased look on Elgyem's face told him that the little thing knew what it was doing. Perhaps it was some kind of code? Was this the way that these pokemon communicated with one another? Crenu found himself fascinated with the strange pokemo, though the way it peered at him made him feel like he was being scanned. He looked away only when Riza brought it to his attention that one of the girls, Karrigan, was bleeding. He didn't say anything when he was introduced, rather wishing she hadn't, and kinda stood there watching. When she looked at him he rose an eyebrow, realizing she was expecting him to help her up as well. He sighed and did so to keep from getting in trouble, but he didn't see the big deal or need as everyone else was helping her too. Crenu shot Amy a glance as she asked him about having battled Surge, but he just looked at her for a moment and said nothing, having thought the answer was obvious. He would have left once she was on her feet but he needed to heal his pokemon as well, so he remained a little behind the group as they made their way to the center and said nothing, not really concearned with anything other than the new pokemon that hatched from his egg. Elgyem seemed to think the same as she just floated right beside him quietly staring from person to person, her gaze always coming back to him. The trek to the center was a short one, and Crenu wasted no time in giving the nurse his pokemon and finding a quiet corner to sit in and study the baby alienoid.

Keegan narrowed his eyes and shrugged, waiting until Mike's coughing fit had died down again before answering. "No, of course not. I'd never do such a thing, because it'd be stupid and irresponsible and I am, er, none of those things..." he trailed off slowly, realizing that there was no way in hell anyone in this room wouldn't believe that it wasn't him who was responsible for the explosion and he gave a defeated sigh, the Axew scurrying up and perching atop his head. "If anyone asks, it wasn't me. I mean, they'll haul me off and I'm just too pretty for jail, y'know?" He eyed the candle-shaped Pokemon, taking in its new nickname. There was something oddly cute about the name Mike had bestowed it with, and he smiled, though he openly flinched under Karen's glare and resisted the urge to hide behind Flannery. It hadn't yet dawned on him that Mike assumed he was the one responsible for bestowing the young Pokemon on him, as he figured he'd just been partially helpful in figuring out a name for the creature. "You're quite welcome," he said, shrugging. "According to my PokeDex, this little fellow is an Axew." At the moment, he was just glad that no one was asking him where he'd gotten it, as he was sure no one would believe that an egg magically appeared above his head in a small hospital bathroom in which he'd just tried to dispose of an explosive pumpkin. His addled brain made the connection then, and he clued in to why Karen had been glaring at him. He said nothing, and decided to pretend that he had been the one to give him the egg. After all, gratitude was far better than animosity.

After everything that had just went down, it was admittedly a little sobering to see Mike looking so helpless and weak, and the redhead quickly offered up his own PokeDex before stopping himself, not wanting the device, which he'd only just picked up recently, to be rendered into a puddle of molten plastic and metal. "Here, I got it," he said, pointing the PokeDex at the candle, and finding he felt a little more at ease with Karen out of the room.

"Litwick, the Candle Pokemon. Its flame is usually out, but it starts shining when it absorbs life force from people or Pokémon. While shining a light, however, it often pretends to be a guide, which it uses as a ruse in order to leech the life force of any who follow it."

"It's a Fire/Ghost-type. How disturbingly fitting is that?" Keegan scoffed, but then he noticed something else, and he held up the screen so Mike, Kasiya and Flannery could all see it. "Yours is different than the one in the 'Dex, though," he said. "Like Axew here. He's supposed to be green, but clearly, he is not." Axew puffed out his chest and looked very proud. Keegan had called him special before, after all, and the egotistical little dragon fully believed it.

Miharu allowed for her Pokemon to exchange a few more attacks before she called back her Starmie, apparently having forgotten Leroy's presence as she became fully preoccupied with her team's progress. About the only thing she knew for sure now was that she'd have to be careful about picking and choosing her attacks, and that a lot of it would depend on how the Gym Leader approached the battle, and what Steel-types she was to use. She hadn't done as much training as she wanted, but she'd come away with knowledge, and an actual strategy, which might have been even better in the long run. She called back Tingle and Lily and fitted the spheres on her belt, staring off into the horizon.

"Finished already?" Lee asked, causing her to startle a bit.

"Yes," Miharu answered after a moment or two. "We should move on. I want to get to Olivine before suppertime."

Leroy nodded. "Fair enough. If we're lucky, you could probably even challenge Jasmine tonight." It was increasingly difficult for him to keep the glee out of his voice, though what he was unable to hold back would likely be misconstrued as excitement for Miharu's battle. "Shall we be off, then?" he asked, offering his arm.

Miharu giggled, and blushed as she accepted. "Like a herd of Squirtles."

"Karrigan, right," Riza repeated, deciding that 'a Beedrill happened' was all she wanted to know of that story, but considering all the pointy ends on the bee Pokemon, it wasn't hard to guess what had happened. She didn't know what a Shinx was either, but she was sure she'd find that out eventually and instead she focused on getting the redhead to her feet. Her new Snivy seemed thrilled to meet Kasiya's Minccino and she politely inclined her head, and returned the tail gesture even though hers made for a poor broom. She was oddly wary of the Cubchoo, finding the chill it gave off to make her very uncomfortable, though she had no actual issues with the Elgyem or Sandile. The former was more preoccupied with her new master anyway.

Once Karrigan was on her feet the group of five trainers began to make their way to the pokecenter. Amy inquired about Crenu's gym battle, but he responded with nothing more than a glance, and she nudged him with her elbow. He wasn't the most sociable of people but there was no need to be rude. Once they got inside the center Riza marched them right up to the front desk. "We need some help over here," she called. While the others went about setting their poke balls in trays to line up for treatment, she explained to the nurse about Karrigan's hand, and after readying her own Pokemon for treatment, she looked at the redhead as the nurse was getting ready to lead her off to a treatment room to get her hand looked at. "Did you want me to go with you?" she asked. "Or anyone? I wouldn't mind."

Train was a bit surprised by the use of Water Pulse, but wasn’t too disappointed since it didn’t get anywhere near her Gloom. She leaned back on her heels but didn’t seem to take too long in deciding where to go from here. ”Gloom, use Acid now,” She spoke up, looking at the Pokémon in front of her and then at Misty’s Starmie.

Gloom clamped her mouth shut for a second before sort of throwing her body forward and spitting a dark, gooey purple ball across the water towards the Mysterious Pokémon. Train hoped that this attack would connect, at least. She didn’t need this last match to be a bunch of misses and just drag on.

Leon stared at the young Pokémon as it hovered sadly just above his foot, flame dim. He didn’t understand at all why the thing appeared to be so upset. The gleam of a gem caught his eyes as the Sableye raised an arm to swipe at Muuma, but the attack passed right through her. She looked down at the Pokémon as she waited for Leon’s next command; she was very focused on this battle and had not noticed Litwick’s little fit.

Leon had pulled out a PokéBall, but hesitated in throwing it blindly in the direction where he had seen the Sableye last. He ran through Muuma’s attacks in his head—he needed to use something that would light the place up. ”Alright, Muuma, use Psybeam,” He deicded. The Misdreavus’ eyes lit up and she launched the multi-coloured beam directly at the Sableye. It looked up at her thoughtfully before rolling thoughtfully out of the way, but just as the beam disappeared a PokéBall hit him in where his shoulder blade would be if he were human.

The Sableye was sucked up right into the ball and it closed before falling to the floor of the cave. Litwick raised his head, momentarily distracted from his emotional pain by the strange development. There was a glow around the button of the PokéBall as it shook once, twice, three times, and then it faded once the click sounded, indicating that the capture had been a success.

She must’ve hit her head pretty hard, Alex thought to herself with a frown after trying in vain to find the stars supposedly hovering ‘round her head. Luckily, though, it seemed Hayley was going to fair better than Kressen did, what with her not falling unconscious and all. She seemed really happy with her adorable plant snake lizard thing, and Alex could see why.

Of course, not soon after, the white shell in her own hand finished fracturing just as the blond gently placed it on the ground. And as the pieces fell, standing in place was a one foot tall, well, mole. The cute little not-diglett looked around, wide eyed, confusion plain on its face as it took in its surroundings.

Alex knelt down behind it, gingerly tapping it on the shoulder. The mole swiveled around, gazing up at the smiling girl. “Hi, cutie!” she said to whatever-it-was, earning a curious tilt of the head from it. “I’m Alex!” Its canted head turned to a slightly more extreme angle before its eyebrows furrowed with intense focus. But after a moment, that focus melted away, and a huge, dopey grin passed across its face as it waddled over to Alex and embraced her in a hug. The high pitched ‘eeee’ escaped Alex’s mouth was more than enough to show how utterly pleased she was that someone sent her something so wonderful. “Omigoshomigoshomigosh you are the absolute cutest!

From her spot beside Blues, Roll spun on her heel, rolling her eyes at that stupid ugly baby. What was so special about a stupid mole, anyway? With puffed cheeks and a pout on her lips, Roll decided that dinosaurs with rocky skin were definitely cooler than some stupid fat rat that could hide underground like a coward.

As the little Larvitar threw her silent internal fit, and Alexis’s new friend backed out of the hug to examine its long, shiny white claws, Blues and his trainer listened rather intently to the Pokedex readouts on each of their new friends. “Snivy… Pawniard… And Drilbur,” Alexis repeated, glancing at the cute baby snake, the adorable knife toddler, and finally, her own new friend, Drilbur.

Blues folded his arms, furrowing his brow as he ran through the totally unfamiliar names in his head. The fact that he didn’t recognize hearing a single one before bothered him. Not even Alastor spoke of these things? He was right. They were from rather far off. Now what in the world could be strong enough to teleport in eggs for specific kids from some random place so far away that I haven’t heard of it…? The Kadabra felt significantly more powerful than he did a few moments ago. But even now, he couldn’t pin down what exactly was going on. He sighed with the slightest sign of annoyance. Then Hayley caught his attention. He smiled proudly (though it probably wasn’t all that obvious) and nodded appreciatively to the brunette.

Alex looked up from her Drilbur toward what she expected to be her father’s Abra. But she was a tiny bit off. He was, well, a lot taller, for one. He was also clenching a spoon in his right hand, and he had a really odd sort of moustache, and a red star tattooed on his forehead. Alex stared at the Kadabra for a moment before she sprung up and ran over, hugging him tightly. “Wow! When did you… Why didn’t you wait!? I wanted to see that…” Blues awkwardly sort of shrugged, bringing his free hand on the girl’s head. “It’s okay, I guess,” she beamed at him despite herself.

In the meantime, Drilbur started waddling over toward Alex, utterly amused with the ease that its razor sharp claws carved through the grass beside it.

The blond turned to face Hayley and Kressen, listening as the redhead started speaking. “Yeah,” she smiled broadly. “This is the best day I’ve had in forever!” She’d made a lot of new friends, one of her old ones got bigger… The day really couldn’t get any better.

“I dunno,” Alex answered, quietly glancing toward the Drilbur playing excitedly in the dirt a few feet away. “I just can’t believe we just… got eggs for nothing, just for us! It’s so cool!”

It wasn't until Karen gave Keegan that annoyed, motherly "I can't believe you did what I think you just did" look that Flannery clued in and she once again stared at the orange covered redhead, the pieces falling into place. "Oi, Keegan, you can be a real bonehead sometimes, you know that?" She couldn't help but smile though, as this wasn't the first time they'd been in the hospital in more or less this same setup back in Lavaridge. Keegan and Mike took turns being the one recovering from injuries brought on by pranks gone awry while she and one of the parents stood by, clicking their tongues and shaking their heads in disappointment. She turned her attention back on the candle Pokemon, now dubbed Pumpkin, and the little dragon sitting cutely atop Keegan's head. Just where had these little Pokemon come from? It wasn't impossible that Keegan had picked it up on his way here, but, as stupid as the redhead could be sometimes she highly doubted he'd take a side trip like that. Perhaps he had received his in the same manner Mike had.

Axew and Litwick, Kasiya thought, studying the two young Pokemon carefully. Keegan was right about the little candle, as it was a very fitting match for Mike. She looked at the screen as Keegan showed off the Litwick's odd colouring and she nodded. "Yeah, like Fang and Twilight," she agreed, taking her own PokeDex out, as she was curious about the future evolutions. "Litwick's final form is something called Chandelure," she said, eyes growing wide. "And Axew turns into Haxorus. You guys are super lucky," she said, doing a very believable job of hiding her jealousy. Green-eyed monsters aside, however, it was amazing seeing how much better Mike seemed, at least mentally, even if every so often she had the slightest inkling that he may be talking to himself. "I know it might be a bit soon, but... what happens now?" she asked, stealing a glance at Keegan as he handled his baby dragon. She felt a small pluck at her heart so she turned her attention to the ground. "Maxie's in jail, hopefully forever, so do we just get on with our lives now?" There was another question tugging at her mind, but she was terrified to bring it up. Her heart already felt so conflicted and torn, she wasn't sure it could handle much more. That, and she was certain that at the very least, the others were hurting enough already, too.

Despite his earlier excitement, Jake wasn't entirely sure what to think of his new Pokemon partner, especially considering how it seemed to stare right into his mind, which for the most part to him, felt like a blank slate. Maybe that was what happened, his previous life had sucked so bad that he forced himself to forget it and start new. That didn't seem likely, though, as he was pretty sure he wouldn't want his new life to begin with him waking up face-down on a beach, covered in seaweed. Jade, on the other hand, seemed thrilled with her little Cottonee, and he couldn't help but smile as he watched her with it. Of course he was very subtle, often able to look away and pretend like he hadn't been watching her whenever she happened to look back at him. It give him an odd sense of excitement, and just feeling something other than emptiness or dread was enough for him right now.

They spent a surprisingly small amount of time picking up their camping gear, even with Jake jokingly trying on various hats to try and give his cowboy nickname some merit. He refrained from actually buying one this time, even if they hadn't looked completely terrible. He felt a lot better about this whole traveling thing now that they were prepared and he grinned up at Sigilyph as they headed back out onto Route 205. "Yeah, thanks for sparing us the swim," he added, also spying the section of ground where Jade had fallen, sparking their wild ride the previous evening. As much as he hadn't minded jumping in after her, he didn't really want to have to do it again any time soon.

"That's a nice name," he replied, nodding as Jade bestowed her little cotton puff with a nickname. He looked over at Sigilyph, wondering if he perhaps should name his own Pokemon, but nothing came to mind. "My plan?" he scoffed, shaking his head. "I don't really have one, nothing more than going in, and not making a fool out of myself." He seemed to have a knack for that. "What about you?" he went on, once again pushing the subject from himself. "Do you have any kind of strategy or whatever for the gym?"

Kasiya hadn't missed the fact that Crenu seemed to be ignoring Amy, but she didn't think too much of it. The blonde boy was awfully gruff and not very sociable, though she hoped it wouldn't bother the bespectacled girl too much. She'd recalled Rosemary as they headed off toward the center, falling in to line with the group and recalling suddenly the events of the previous evening, specifically, how that egg had magically appeared in a flash of light over Mike's bed, bequeathing him with the adorable little Litwick. It was likely Keegan had received his egg in the same manner, even though they were still allowing for Mike to believe the redhead had gifted it to him. "This happened last night," she said quietly, once the five of them were inside and preparing their Pokemon for treatment. "Two of my friends received eggs out of the blue. They were also Pokemon we've never seen before. I bet they all came from the same place, wherever that is."

It was a little surprising to see Riza take charge, but she let her, having had enough of that for a while. It occurred to her after she'd given Rosemary and Nova's Pokeballs to the nurse that this new addition to her team had set her over the limit of Pokemon she could carry with her, and she frowned. The strongest two Pokemon she had with her were Twilight and Rosemary, but even they hadn't made it to the level she wanted them to quite yet. Even still, the Chinchilla Pokemon was probably something quite special, like Mike's Litwick and Keegan's Axew, so she should at least start trying to train wit her, as well. "I'll be right back," she told the group, smiling warmly before making her way over to the PC bay and sitting down at the first available one. Minccino was still quietly clinging to her shoulder and she hopped onto the desk, swiftly clearing away the dust that had accumulated on the monitor. "Thanks, cutie," Kasiya smiled, also realizing that her new Pokemon needed a name. She looked over her shoulder, logging in her information absentmindedly as she went over her six Pokemon in her head. Alphonse, Nova, Calliope, Bubbles, Twilight, Rosemary. I think... Twilight. He could spend some time with Flash, she reasoned finally, removing the shiny Umbreon's Pokeball from her belt. She didn't have to ask the quiet-natured Dark-type to behave himself as she knew he would and she fought back that ever-heavy feeling that welled up in her chest whenever she sent away one of her Pokemon. Her eyes scanned the row of cute little icons that represented her Pokemon and she felt her heart grow heavier. "Ariel, Shocker," she sighed, and then proceeded to log-off before the waterworks started up once again.

Thinking back to all the times she'd hatched eggs beforehand (which was a lot, she realized with surprise - Ariel, Adamantine, Rosemary and Nova had all been born from eggs hatched by her own two hands) and she remembered that she'd need to pony up an empty Pokeball for her Minccino. She zipped open the pouch where she kept all the empty spheres only to have most of them fall out and clatter to the floor, much to her dismay. The case that contained her HM for Surf had fallen out as well and she realized that she might as well offer its use to her friends (if they had Water-types that could use it). The Chinchilla Pokemon jumped to the ground upon seeing the mess her trainer made, cute little brows upturned into an adorable little frown as she studied the mess. For a moment she half-glared up at Kasiya, giving her paw a shake that seemed to say "Now look what you did!" The Pokemon's eyes scanned the varying spheres before they came to rest on the rather ornate, red, black and gold-trimmed Luxury Ball. It had accumulated some dirt from the floor so immediately the Normal-type got to work, stiffly cleaning it up. That is, until her tail hit the button and it clicked open. Kasiya could only watch, the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as the Pokemon's confusion grew. "Cheeno?" she asked before being sucked inside the sphere by the trademark red light, the ball not even rocking once before it clicked shut and chimed. That settled it; Minccino was Kasiya's for sure now.

Karrigan mumbled her thanks to Crenu and Riza, looking behind her every so often to make sure her little cub was still following. The Ice-type indeed was, looking very cheery and sunny as she walked, having sucked back in her strand of mucous for the time being. Not being very outspoken, Karrigan was actually quite grateful that Riza had taken charge and she followed along quietly. The Pokemon Center was cool and welcoming inside and she prepared Aegeus and Amber's Pokeballs, and Lennier's as well. She had only just finished setting the Kadabra's Pokeball in the tray before Riza was shouting at the nurse. There was a slight bustling of activity as a second nurse appeared to take care of the Pokemon while the first took her by the arm and started to lead her back into a treatment room. "No thank you, I'll be fine on my own," she said, giving her small, shy smile to Riza before they headed off down the hall. Of course, she wasn't alone, as the little bear hadn't hesitated to follow her.

The nurse made idle chitchat as she got to work on Karrigan's hand, clicking her tongue and mentioning how it wasn't the first time she'd seen someone with wounds from a Beedrill. It wasn't as bad as Karrigan had initially imagined it to be, though squeezing her hand during her battle with Amy had more or less negated any healing that had started. As kind as she was, Karrigan didn't really care about what the nurse was going on about now and instead she turned her gaze on the little Cubchoo, which was sitting idly at her feet and looking up at her with round, adoring eyes. "I think I'm going to name you Naga," she said. Naga gave a cheer and clapped her paws, clearly thrilled with her name. The nurse looked up from her bandaging and cleaning and smiled, now going on and on about all the different and interesting types of Pokemon she'd seen in her days of working here. Karrigan couldn't help but smile and listen now, as the nurse seemed to know exactly what she was doing, and within only a few moments, her hand had stopped bleeding and hurting. She would have to be more careful from now on.

Misty felt the bite of her nails into her palm as she watched the Grass/Poison-type quite literally spew out acid that hit Starmie dead on. The Mysterious Pokemon seemed to spasm, its core blinking rapidly in its distress, trying to rid itself of the muck. The redhead was surprised that Train hadn't ordered for some sort of Grass-type move, just to end this battle quickly with super effective attacks. She wouldn't deny herself the luxury of using super effective moves if they were available--and thankfully for her, they were.

"Use Psychic," Misty commanded, her voice sharp, and then the incessant blinking of the red gem core ceased for a moment, the Starmie's version of silence seeming foreboding to the gym leader. Then it glowed a brighter red than before and the Water/Psychic-type loosed a pulse of psychic energy aimed directly for the drooling Gloom. It ought to be painful if it hit, Misty knew that, but she was a gym leader. There was no reason she should hold back.

Amy ducked her head a little, a light pink coloring her cheeks in response to Crenu's silence. It had been a silly question to ask, considering how very obvious its answer was. She refrained from apologizing, however, and just lapsed into her own silence, collecting her four Pokeballs and handing them to Nurse Joy as she received the party. She frowned a little as she placed them into the tray; only Flora and Lee had been injured, while Marshall and her yet-unnamed Meowth hadn't participated in her recent battle. She felt bad for excluding the Water/Ground-type particularly, since she would have to count on him for her upcoming gym match. The bespectacled girl frowned at the thought, retrieving her Pokedex and inspecting the current levels of her Pokemon. She didn't know how strong Surge was, yes, but they all still seemed worryingly low.

Within moments, their group seemed to be breaking apart, with Karrigan opting to undergo treatment by herself and Crenu retreating to a corner by himself while Kasiya ventured over to the PCs, perhaps to switch out her Pokemon. Amy looked down at her Sandile, who seemed to be led by his nose as he sniffed across the Pokecenter floor in search of anything edible. She called him back to her side and glanced back at Riza.

"How did the contest turn out?" she asked, almost sheepishly. "I'm really sorry for just... leaving like that. I was in over my head, I suppose. But I bet you were great. Who won?"

Chloris seemed especially pleased with her new nickname, judging from the peals of delight that came from the little fluff ball as she waved her leaves all about. Jade smiled at the Grass-type before her gaze returned to the blonde beside her, listing out his plan or lack thereof. But when she was made the subject of the conversation again, the question suddenly gave her pause, and the raven-haired girl frowned thoughtfully as they walked.

"I suppose..." she began quietly, tapping a finger to her chin. She glanced back at Chloris and Aquarius trailing behind, already knowing that she would have to rule the two of them out against a Grass-type gym. "Cirrus and Solaris will have to be my main fighters. If I'm lucky and it's three on three, Solaris can take out two Grass-types before she's out. I might spend tomorrow training, maybe get them some TMs or something from the market." She glanced up at the road ahead of them, Eterna Forest growing clearer as they got closer. Jade looked into the shadows between the trees, feeling goosebumps rise up on her skin. "And there might be something in there worth catching. Who knows?" Now she focused on their next stepping stone, the massive forest, the small sliver that parted the massive cluster of green that greeted them. "I bet it gets scary at night," she said quietly. And then, almost an afterthought, "Sounds like fun. Don't get too scared and leave me all alone, okay, Jake?" She tossed a grin with a challenge at the blonde, but there was something that rang too uncomfortably true about her request, something about being alone and God, how much she hated it. She dismissed it without another thought and kept walking, pace slightly quickening.

Jasper had managed to drift off much easier with the firmness of the floor supporting his body, as well as the rhythmic breathing of his living pillow. He opened his eyes sometime later, trembling and slick with a cold sweat and he sat bolt upright, heart pounding. He must have cried out as well, for all three of his Pokemon were alert and on guard, staring at him intently. Granted, it was a little humorous to find oneself being glared at by a cranky-looking pillow. "Don't worry about me, guys," he said, his voice a bit raspy. "Just a bad dream, don't worry about me." The Pokemon didn't seem entirely convinced, however, exchanging glances between themselves before they all stared back at Jasper. The boy sighed and ran a hand through his tousled brown hair. "Alright, fine, have it your way," he grumbled. "I... we... we were back down in that pit, and this time, I couldn't protect you guys. From Team Rocket, that is."

He sighed again and stood up, taking a moment to stretch out the painful kink that had formed in his knee. It popped loudly and he groaned. "There was just too many of them. We couldn't fight them off. They took you guys away. I wasn't strong enough." He certainly didn't feel strong now, standing there in just his boxer shorts and shaking like a leaf in the wind while his three relatively inexperienced Pokemon stared at him as though he'd sprouted a third eye in the middle of his forehead. He could pretend otherwise, and even tell the others that it had been nothing, but truthfully, his run-in with Team Rocket had rattled him, probably more than even he realized. Fortunately for Jasper, however, his Pokemon were aware of this. The three exchanged glances yet again, making a silent yet solemn vow to do everything in their power to help their hapless trainer become stronger. Jasper wandered around the room a few times before he settled back in to his nest of blankets, but he no longer felt drowsy and he knew it was highly unlikely that he'd fall back asleep any time soon.

"Free eggs, new friends. Best Day Ever!" Hayley declared, her Snivy very much enjoying the love being given to her by the excited girl. She was certainly fond of her new trainer, but not so much the other humans, though she didn't show it and remained polite. Hayley herself couldn't explain the attachment she felt to the leafy snake, and she set it down on the ground and beckoned for her other three Pokemon to come closer. "Cynder, Mya, Tisyphone, I'd like you guys to meet Ivy, the newest member of our family!" The Snivy tilted her head and touched a single digit to her chin, contemplating the name. Deciding she liked it she smiled, eyes partially closed as she gave nods of acknowledgment to her new teammates.

"I don't know what to do now," Hayley continued from her place on the ground, having pulled out her sketchbook. She'd lost the battle to resist whipping it out and starting to sketch, as between the three new arrivals and Blues' amazing transformation, her inspiration was just too strong. "But I still really want to return to the forest to look for a Pikachu," she said, carefully darkening her baselines for the blades covering Odin's body. "I dunno about you guys, but a bunch of dumb 'ole Beedrills don't scare me!"

At those words, Cynder face-palmed. His trainer certainly was a special one.

Crenu watched as Riza looked after the girl with the injury wondering why she was so concerned over her. The injury wasn't particularly grim or anything, but the way she took charge of the situation was, commendable? It wasn't something to really pay any attention to though. At least she let his anti social self, save for the jab in the ribs for ignoring Amy. Elgyem was hovering around quietly, he didn't know much about it except that she liked to observe. She went from studying him to studying the people and pokemon around them. She never strayed too far from Crenu though, not more than a few feet, and every once in a while shed come hovering right back flickering short messages with her fingers as if reporting her findings to him. Crenu just sighed and nodded, it was relatively harmless and she was just curious being a new born. But he wondered if she would figure out that he couldn't understand her light signals at all, assuming that that was even a way of communicating and not just random lights on a pokemons fingers. Either way, this couldn't really go on all day. Besides the pokeballs given to the nurse were starting to come back. He'd only given her two of his pokemon so he knew it wouldn't take long. "Hmm, only a couple of great balls left. Gonna have to stock up just in case." He said as he took one of them from his bag, touching it to Elgyem. The light reached out and swallowed up the young pokemon taking it inside to her new home. He clipped the blue and white ball on his belt, which had an opening due to Poliwhirl's injury. He'd take her out again soon, but for now he had business. Taking his pokemon back from the tray he clipped them to his belt as well and quietly made his way out of the center, hoping everyone was to preoccupied to notice or care. Not like it would be strange for him to leave a crowd. He made his way around to the back of the center, all alone as he let Ariados out of her pokeball. "....Ariados. I've been thinking over this for a while. You know this of course. You were out matched in the last match...but you did poorer than I would have liked. Not just against Surge, lately you just aren't getting the job done to my standards. For the pokemon I caught second, I expect more from you. But no matter. I've decided to cut my losses. Poliwhirl might end up like this too, I haven't decided. But for you, its very clear."

"Oh, okay then," Riza said, giving a nod and looking back to the desk as the first nurse took Karrigan off to get her hand looked at. She wasn't sure why she was so concerned about the redhead's hand, as it wasn't usually like her to care so much about others. Everyone had given their Pokemon over for treatment and she looked around at the scattered group. Kasiya and her Minccino had gone over to the computers ans Shiro had gone off on his own, followed by his curious little Elgyem. Amy lingered close by, probably because she didn't know anyone that well other than her and Karrigan.

She smiled at the psychic-type as it studied her, and looked around at the other Pokemon before glancing back down at her own new Pokemon. The Snivy seemed to sense Riza's wariness of her and was keeping her distance, and Riza sighed. "Look, I'm sorry," she muttered, kneeling down a bit to study the grass-type. "I'm sorry that you kind of freak me out, but I promise that I'll do my best to get over it. Just bear with me for now. And, I think I'll name you Selena." The newly dubbed Selena seemed content with this and she nodded, looking over as a clatter caught both hers and Riza's attention. She smirked upon seeing Kasiya's belongings scattering all over the place, and she glanced at Selena. "She may be a pretty impressive trainer, but she's also kind of a dork, isn't she?" The Snivy chortled in reply.

Seeing the blonde's Minccino get put inside a ball reminded her that she needed to do the same with Selena, and that she had actually reached the maximum number of Pokemon allowed in her party. She didn't know who she would switch out, as she'd promised to give her Snivy a chance. Her thoughts were interrupted by Amy and she turned to the other girl. "The contest? Well, it was..." she sighed, and looked at the floor. She didn't really want to relive it so soon, but it had been rough for Amy too so she deserved to know it hadn't been a cakewalk for her, either. "It was rough," she said, and went on to explain just how tough her match had been with Crenu, and then with Jerome. "Not at all what I expected for my first contest, but look at this." She pulled out the blue and gold Cerulean Ribbon and showed it to her. "I won, and Akima even evolved into Weavile. You missed a lot."
