The battle had raged strongly around Chronos Castle. The senshi had fought strongly to keep the invaders and their Great Monster from the sacred grounds of the palace itself but it was turning into a futile effort. One by one they had watched their very human charges, the people they were sworn to protect with their very lives if need be, fall and turn to the golden glimmering particles that were like a thick haze around their ankles.

The monster was growing more and more sentient as time went on. It was sorting through the powers, looking for weaknesses, trying to find that one thing that would assure the victory of its Dark Queen's chosen. It found it in the puffy-bottomed, sage-haired young woman with a wreath in her hair, fighting valiantly. Princess Chronos was the weakest point of this place; the monster did not think, it knew that if it could eliminate her there would be no true resistance. This was its purpose, its goal was in its reach, it would all be over soon.

With a roar it went truly on the offensive. Its great bulk moved, it heaved, it needed this movement. Its claws reached out, victory was at hand…and it never made it. Four bursts of light erupted from the ground beneath Princess Chronos' feet and there was suddenly more protection than she could have dreamed of in that moment. The Surrounding even in its turbulent, broken state, knew its princess was in danger and had reacted with the souls of distant knights.

The backlash was terrible. It drove every single person of power to their knees in the rush of dark energy. The civilians, unfortunately, were not equipped to survive it. One after one their remaining lives drained away in the rush, their bodies becoming one with the fantastical rainbow road. But it was not in vain. Not yet.

It was the movement of this Great Monster that somehow broke the rules. It was if attacking in this unprecedented way was a forbidden taboo that was now going to be repaid in kind. The rainbow road glimmered with the lives of the civilians lost across its span in such a short time. All of their lives were precious and that precious sacrifice would now serve a purpose greater than any of them could have possibly dreamed in their last moments of despair.

With a clap that sounded like thunder in their midst the battlers were thrown apart. Senshi and knights alike were thrown into the atrium of Chronos Castle, sliding and heaping all over each other haphazardly without any indication of which way was up. It was no less gentle with the agens of Chaos, those mirrored senshi and the Negaverse officers that oh-so-warily fought beside them.

They were thrown back against their beast as a wall of golden shine sprang up. It arced over and over until fully, totally encasing Chronos Castle within an impenetrable bubble of truegold souls. Hands could be reached into the layer that was at least three-feet thick but as they went deeper any who tried would feel the flesh start to peel from their hands, bones flayed open. Withdrawing would reveal that there was no lasting damage yet the memory of that pain would linger.

It seemed that the senshi, for now, were trapped. The forces of Chaos could not break in and the power of Order could not break out. They were at a stalemate while the souls of the dead hovered above them all as a stalwart guardian and forceful reprove. You could speak through it, see through it, but it might as well have been laser beams for all that you could go through it.

Quote:
All of the civilians are now dead and part of the barrier protecting the castle. They have lost their individuality and sentience -- civilians, your battle has ended.

The overall battle has ended for the night! Tend your injuries, mourn the dead, explore the area around and perhaps even help clean up the outside of the palace? You may not leave Chronos Castle if you are a senshi/knight and the Negaverse has no way to leave the Surrounding. All other outposts (Virgo, Leo, Aquarius, Gemini) have been sealed off by the bubbles that have initially surrounded the others (Libra, Capricorn, etc).

This is a reaction stage. You can talk back and forth between factions through the barrier but there can be no fighting. Unless you'd like to fight amongst yourselves in which case well hey, whatever floats your boat.

Enjoy the break and have a good night! Battle will resume tomorrow sometime around 2pm EST.

A fancy metal dumbell-looking thing bounced off the side of Avalon's head. Lieutenant Hematine knew he was supposed to do something, but he didn't want to actually touch anyone. Regular people were disgusting enough. Blood, sweat, and tears just made everything worse. He hadn't come prepared to get his hands dirty here. He'd been fortunate avoiding most of the fighters... until now.

Hematine held his other vajra lightly in hand and hoped he'd gotten the knight's attention. General Uranophane was going to hear no end of questions after this.

The Storyteller ghost watched as new terrorists popped up everywhere. One right after the other. It was fascinating to watch just about as fascinating as sitting on the dragon she half wondered if it was going to turn around at any second and try to eat her.

Of course as convoluted as that thought might've been Bela didn't seem to mind as she hummed quietly watching the going ons of the court. Then suddenly the shimmering ghost of Bela was gone in a small Poof leaving little gold glitter bits on the dragon. That'll probably take forever to get off....

Something moved, his eyes opened a bit again letting the harsh light of the Surrounding fill it again, it wasn't as bad this time but damn it still burned a bit. He could make out Scylla leaning near Gunn, her voice echoing as she shouted at him as well.

Slowly he raised his arm offering a single thumbs up before letting it slide down, slowly trying to prop himself up again the world spinning as he moved causing him to cough and gag. It was like smoke still clogged his throat. "W-what now..." he muttered.

His question was cut short as the magic that guarded the Surrounding, that guarded the Princess flared to life, suddenly he was flying again tumbling across the ground before coming to an oddly gentle stop inside a glowing gold barrier. The Senshi of metal craft groaned softly before laying his head to the dirt once more.

Time now to rest and battle again later.

The wind was knocked out of Draconis as she stumbled to the ground. Someone ... something? had hit her hard in the back, and it hurt like crazy. Had she broken something? No. No, she was alright. Her hair was an absolute mess though. She pulled off her bracelets and rings- they were just getting in the way at the moment. She could put them on later.

Later, as in, when they won.

Draconis looked back to see who had done the damage, only to find Howlite staring right back at her. Oh great. This chick, she thought. What a wonderful addition to the afternoon. Not only was she IN SPACE, she was also exhausted, and outnumbered. This wasn't cool, not at all.

Fortunately for her, she had something that could heat things up. But ... who did she target? If she aimed for Howlite, the girl could easily dodge, and Sugilite could take advantage. If she aimed at Sugilite, there was a chance that Howlite would nail her in the back again.

Well s**t.

Draconis got on her feet and grimaced, clearly trying to walk off the pain. "Fancy meeting you here," she started, "Come here OFTEN." On her last word, she launched a punch straight at the blonde bimbo's injured arm. The one she had burned last time.

Suddenly a great power erupted though. It was over, wasn't it? It was calm... eerily calm. Everyone was forced to their knees, which meant no more fighting but ... there wasn't anything she could do. Everything was at a standstill. Draconis wasn't sure if she liked this turn out, but it was clear the battle was over. She shot a wary glance at Howlite, as if to say "watch out, next time. Next time." and then ran off.

Veer had been dead; he knew he'd been dead. He'd felt the insects gnawing away at his skin, had floated around as a thoughtless ball of energy, absently observing the battle in a detached sort of way. A ghost, he'd been, no? And now he stood, not even fifty feet from Cameron, staring at the glove on his hand and the strange costume, hair flopping forward into his eyes --

And he didn't even really understand who he was.

He looked up and met his friend-or-enemy's eyes and scowled at the comment, at the fact that even now Cameron had beaten him. That son of a b***h.

He'd show what for. How many level 80s did Veer have? And he'd always said that, given that kind of power, he could make use of it. so he turned to pick up the fight.

Thwarted by a golden shell. He stomped one foot. "What the hell?"

"I am well aware of what a paintbrushes true purpose is - to create art. I am an artist. I see this as a part of my true passion forged into a weapon with which I can fight for a new and better world." He spoke, his voice cool and calm as the Page leaned in close to him. He didn't more his head back, he simply watched and stared at them.

"But if this is to paint a picture in blood perhaps it should be your blood I use." He spoke with something of a smile. Oh how he'd like to do just that. The anger given him by the Great Youma earlier was long gone yet he wanted to spill that Page's blood. But he had a self given mission to protect the newly awakened dark mirror senshi, and he would do just that.

The brush pushed close to him, but didn't touch his chest, as he watched the Page leap backward. Talk about the uses of a paintbrush, that wasn't a use for one either.

Before anything else could happen he found himself picked up and thrown, with not gentleness given to the truly battle weary teen. Landing against the Great Youma and sliding to the ground he lay there for several minutes, glancing around from his place on the ground. So they were barred from the senshi and the knights, they couldn't attack them, he wasn't going to see if the golden barrier would be able to be broken down. His brush rolled along the ground before vanishing. "Looks like a forced break." Something he was happy about, if the smile on his face didn't say that enough.

Sugilite turned, puzzled at the assistance. Why was Howlite helping her, when she could be protecting the Great Youma? It didn't make any sense, unless you considered things like teammates and allies, which Sugilite didn't. She hopped up, but was immediatly bowled backwards from the explosion of light, ending quite a distance away from where she started.

She stood up again, this time more slowly, and looked around carefully for any more unexpected explosions. There didn't seem to be any coming. There also didn't seem to be any senshi or knights. She turned again back to Howlite, the nearest ally she could reach. The woman might bug her on some level she couldn't quite place, but she was a fellow officer.

"My, it looks like the fighting has rather abruptly been forced to a halt. What was that all about, do you think?"

Keren Della-Blue was gone before she knew it, leaving only a tiny bit of gold dust as proof that she'd ever been there in the first place.

Navi was still trying to get her breath back when the lights shot from the ground to thwart the great youma's attempts at crushing Chronos, and the girl rasped out a disappointed curse before something very bodily launched her up and away from the battlefield and against the skeletal beast itself. She struck it, yelping as her head knocked against a sturdy rib, and then landed in a boneless heap on top of somebody else.

It wasn't anyone she knew, but there was a familiar sense about them that just screamed ally at her. That must have been what Ares was talking about.

"s**t, sorry." She at least owed that much to the young man she seemed to be laying on. Though she made no immediate move to crawl off him. Hey, she was dazed, she had the right to lay still for a minute. it gave her time to notice his hair and clothing was black with blue accents.

Avalon dropped like a ******** rock when he grabbed the collar of her high-collared under-jacket... thing. She didn't even know what it was, but the bottoms of her shoes slipped in the various liquids sliding over the Surrounding's surface.

Gross. Was that a clot? Jesus. Intestines, too. She was about to take up her ire with the enemy when she suddenly was thrown into the inside of Chronos Castle and left there to kind of...

Well.

What was she even doing here?...

Gunn opened her eyes just enough that Scylla could see the weirdly pale blue, slipped her hands down so her wrists no longer covered her mouth. "I don't report to you," she croaked. God, she felt like she'd been chewing sandpaper. Gargling gravel. Smoking three packs an hour for a year. If she didn't get lung cancer from this...

"Chronos Outpost," she said, looking around and then finally sitting up. The blood liberally smeared down her side was not her own, but with the way she felt, it might as well have been. The redhead spat out a mouthful of blood and looked away, lips pursed tightly.

"Do you ever shut up?" Howlite scoffed, deflecting Draconis' attack with a strong forearm. Not only was her arm uninjured, but the senshi's strikes were uncoordinated, and she was tired, focused on two enemies.

Before she could follow up her block with strike, she was blinded, and hit the ground hard on one shoulder. A grimace, as she picked herself up, glancing toward Sugilite, who had fallen nearby. She had no particular like, or dislike of her, and it was simply Draconis who had tipped her from defensive to attack mode.

There was now a golden shield, and all those left outside it were agents of chaos. Looked like it was time to regroup.

"Magical rainbow power of love, I reckon. Ironic, considering it killed the rest of the folks running about." The blonde lifted one shoulder in a shrug, dark eyes still tracking their now-escaped opponent through the shield. She really didn't like that trash-talking little brat. How could one senshi be so arrogant? Then again, it seemed like a symptom of the breed. Perhaps that was what those damned cats for. The arrogance to assume you were the justice and light of the universe, and that all who opposed you were evil.

She looked back, then, to the Great Youma, and their allies. Time to get their next orders.

Like the rest of the agents of Chaos, Super Sailor Leto was thrown back against the Great Youma and dropped to the ground. She shook her head quickly to get rid of the dizzines from the impact of the fall and pushed herself up to her feet. She quickly made her way over to the golden wall that separated them from the Senshi and Knights on the other side and her eyes scanned over them all. There were so many that she recognized... So many that were once her friends. So many that were lost. And most importantly, so many that needed to be enlightened.

She took a few steps backwards before turning on her heel to face her new comrades- both the Negaverse, most of which she had yet to meet or make ammends with... And the new Dark Mirror Senshi that Ares had awakened. She smiled and made her way towards the group, eager to meet the new Dark Mirrors and teach them at least the basics of what was going on before that giant wall came down and the battle ensued again later.

((If any of the new DMCers wanna meet Leto just quote me or toss me a quick PM! I'm heading to bed but I'll be up early tomorrow to reply<3))

Roxy would have found it ironic that she would dissolve into the shining lights that had been her code name for the short time spent here. Fitting to the color of her eyes as she was gone with a short gasp, a hushed silence as a wave once again filled the courtyard and blinked out the fray that had battled upon the lands.

Now she was able to shine like the sun to fit the nickname she had been given, pulsing with the barrier that was to protect those that she was so uneasy about and to equally keep out those she had never encountered. How was this fair, she would have wondered though tangled thoughts as her being became no more. Silenced and gone in a veil of dust.

But the last thought, the very last, was how terribly sad that the pirate crew were unable to die like this all together. Fighting the good fight, back to back and with smiles on their faces in bliss and joy.

At least they had come to this place together and shared an adventure, even for the short while.

He hadn't been thrown as far as many people did so he was quickly able to get back to his feet to a place in the world where things had calmed down but that didn't seem to mean much to anyone because before the man had been able to realize it he had been thrown back to the ground by the Dark Mirror Senshi named Navi. He groaned from the shock before his amber eyes looked through dark shades to the woman.

"Please, would you remove your knee," he suggested calmly. She was awfully close to his groin that he really didn't dare piss her off by telling her to get her ugly a** off of him.
