The rainbow road glowed brighter, brighter and brighter until the light blinded him. Once the light had subsided, Felix was shocked to find that everyone had changed colors. He looked at Callum, who was various shades of green while Layton was in multiple shades of yellow. Felix glanced at his hands, which were a pastel orange. Orange. Orange could easily be a heinous color, but at least his favorite food was the fruit orange.

“You can finally hear me? That’s great. My name is Felix, not Hero—“ He was no longer fazed to see that Felicia was donned in violet, but froze when her hands slowly slid up his chest to rest on his shoulders while her thumbs stroked his throat. Confused, Felix moved to carefully pry her hands away from him. He glanced at Callum, finding him bawling—which was rather odd--while Layton was just standing there with a somewhat blank expression—even odder. “Uh, what are you do—“ Something crashed into Felicia, causing Felix to jump back. Once he vaguely registered it as a bat, he stepped forward to kick it, but was lightly batted in the head from behind. “Watch it!” When he turned around, he realized it was another bat, fully intent on focusing on him only. Dammit.

((Bat 4hp, Holi: Broken finger and bitten leg...and now a broken toe Getting your a** kicked by something you don't believe in: .... priceless.))

Slippers... evidently, even angry cat slippers, didn't work very well as foot protection against enraged bats, and Holi caught her breath in another cross between a sob and a scream as her foot bounced off the bat, doing more harm than good. The fluffy head of the angry cat seemed to pad the blow against the creature considerably more than it did for her, and with other one of those unholy little 'pops' a bone in her toe broke. This time she was rather familiar with the whole situation, having once dropped an heavy pot on her foot while carrying it to the stove, and she sobbed again between the bat and the futility of it all.

"Somebody help me PLEASE!" She cried, though she was sure no one would hear her, let alone be bothered to help. What did anyone care about a miserable thing like her? They were probably glad she was drawing the creatures attention.

The injured bat came fluttering back toward Grant and he looked up with doe eyes, his eyebrows furrowed sadly and water glistening in them in a threat to spill over. He moved toward the bat like a long expected reunion was occurring, throwing his arms open again for the hug that had not been.

The bat, growing wise to this human's attack methods, dodged out of the way of his hands. Its wing had been crippled and it was tilting to the left as it flapped one wing much harder than the other just to compensate for the damage.

It was the most depressing thing Grant had ever seen.

"I'm so sorry, Mr. Bat!" He cried, and the bat lunged at him. It did not understand his words or his intentions, it just knew that it was hurt and the pink flesh bag had done it: and it wanted to return the favor. Grant closed the distance as if expecting the world to slow down, their reunion and the bat accepting his apology destined to be in slow motion.

He scuffed his shoe on the Rainbow floor, and jerked forward suddenly. He caught the bat in his arms and fell to the floor, hard, and the bat simply could not bear his weight. It burst into dust, leaving Grant marginally unharmed, but covered in dust.

Its ashes.

"Oh God, what have I done?!" Grant moaned in horror, his suffering endless. The dust ran through his fingers as he raised his hands to the sky in what had to be the most dramatic showing of his misery he could have possibly performed. But that spark in him, that need to be good and to make people happy, had not died: it was just buried under the weight of his sorrow.

He looked at the dust, then around at the injured people, the injured bats, around him. He had to do something about all of this, no matter how upset it made him. No matter what happened to him. He got up, tears streaming down his face, an unwanted and unbidden side effect of these new and overwhelming feelings of sadness.

"Don't worry everyone!" the blue man yelled, his fist clenched tightly around the lingering grains of bat dust, his face hot from his crying and his cheeks glittering with the trail of his tears, "all will be well!"

In the ensuing chaos, Leo had only barely managed to catch a glimpse of his princess and his captain, but it was enough to assure him that they were still fighting. He would have made his way to them, but there were so many civilians about that he felt he needed to fight his way through the bats and save as many of the multi-colored people as possible... if he could. From where he was standing, he was filled with such a despair and hopelessness that he was certain he would never make it through the sea of bats and save anyone.

He was worthless as a Soldier. He was still exactly the same as he'd been as a senshi -- he --

Someone cried for help near him and he turned, desperately wanting to be of aid. She crashed into him, a petite young woman wearing as peculiar a shade of color as his own, and he wrapped an arm around her to shield her from the incoming bat.

It slammed into his shoulder, clawed feet digging in and cutting streaks in his clothing and skin alike. Blood blossomed and he hissed, further turning to gather the girl closer and shield her more; but the bat was up and flying away, apparently circling for another attack.

Looking down at the girl in his arms, he was struck by another wave of indescribable sadness. She wasn't Virgo, wasn't Elke. Not his girlfriend. "Are you all right? Stand behind me," he added, using gloved hands to urge her behind him as he prepared to face the bat once more.

Mary didn't even notice the fact that she'd turned a nice shade of red. Everything was red, so what did it matter? She chased after the bat, screaming in rage.

THE WRAITH OF A THOUSAND RAGING ELITISTS WILL BE NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT I WILL D-- GOD DAMN IT STOP HITTING ME YOU GOD DAMN SUNUVABEOTH!'

The bat took this oportunity, as she was screaming at the top her lungs to turn around and slam into her nose. Mary toppled over and found curse words she wasn't even sure she knew as she screamed in murderous rage at the thing. It was kind of muffled though, as she held her bleeding nose.

"YOU BROKE MY GOD DAMNED NOSE YOU a**!"

Her left arm was useless, worst then useless. Felicia had to struggle to sit up, and every movement she made jarred the injured shoulder further, sending shocks of stabbing pain throughout her shoulder and upper body. It was enough to have her whimpering, tears stinging at the corners of her eyes as she stared up in horror at the looming frame of the bat that was descending upon her. It was coming for her again, and she could do little else but crawl away from it as it swooped down at her.

She screamed as he opened it's mouth to screech at her. Hand slipping in her struggled retreat to send her sprawling flat against her back. Kicking her feet up at the beast's face as it lunged at her. Wedge heels connecting with a solid crunch against the thing's nose and sending it reeling backwards in mid air. Dipping as it shrieked and pawed at it's nose before spreading it's wings to soar up and away from her, circling over head.

Felicia was shocked. From the injury, the bat itself, and the fact that she'd actually managed to crush it's nose with the heel of her shoe. Maybe she couldn't use her hands against the thing, but her legs were working just dandy. The next time the beast dove at her she'd be ready.

[[ 1 ROLL KO, LIKE A BOSS ]]

This was annoying. Felix lightly swatted at the bat, which wasn’t that fazed by the soft hits. He glanced at Felicia as she battled her own bat. Lips pressed into a thin line and Felix balled his hand into a fist to smack the creature. It screeched, causing Felix to wince at the high-pitched sound. “You’re. So. Annoying!” he hissed, raising his leg and kicking it with as much strength as he could muster. Surprisingly, the kick seemed to do the trick. The bat, caught off guard, stumbled away, defeated. A perplexed Felix watched the creature escape. “Well, that was easier than I thought.”

With his bat disposed of, he reached over to grab Felicia’s hand, intent on bringing her over to Callum and Layton, both of whom appeared completely out of it. “Come on!” He ran over to the siblings. Frowning, Felix kicked Callum. “What are you bawling over? Man up, already. Layton, are you hurt?” He batted away a couple of bats as he spoke.

As blood leaked out of her nose, down over her lips and chin and finally onto her shirt to leave a really ugly stain ( though not that you could actually see it; it just happened to be a darker shade of red) Mary's rage grew. She could still breath, mostly, every second she spent looking at the damn thing made her angrier.

The bat, dazzed from running into her nose, fluttered closer to her, which was the wrong course of action. Mary grabbed it around the middle.

"The wraith of a thousand angry elistest will have nothing on what I will do to you, and then I will use you as a god damnned cape, you hear me, a god damned cape!" she yelled at it. She pulled herself onto her knees and began slamming the bat into the road with her entire strength.

"FOR THE DYNAST REALMS AND THE CLAN LEADEEEEEEEEEEER!" she screamed, banging the bat against the rainbow.

The bat could only take so much of this and on the fifth slam it shattered into dust. Mary blinked at the dust for a moment, before rage took over.

Felix's hand came out of no where to grab her arm and haul her up to her feet, eliciting a startled yelp from the girl and a pained moan immediately after as her left arm jostled painfully. Cringing even as she ran to keep up with him as she pulled her along and to hopeful safety near the other two he'd seemed to adopted as a part of their little "group".

The bat she'd kicked wasn't so willing to let her just escape without retribution for his nose, and it screeched down at her as it started it's dive. Jerking Felicia's attention around to stare up with narrowed, violet eyes. Growling in frustration the girl slide to a stop. Either yanking Felix to a halt beside her, or simply pulling her hand free. Either way she'd c**k that dainty fist back as the bat neared her. Punching with all her minimal might directly where she'd previously kicked, and letting out a fierce cry of satisfaction as yet more sickening crunches filled the air between them.

The bat screamed. Falling to the ground to writhe and twitch as it pawed ineffectively at it's own nose with it's wings.

"That felt good." Her voice was breathy with the effort of running and defending herself from the vile creature, but she seemed pleased with herself. Her smile rather smug as she turned back to Felix.

Raven ran at Jett still, then flung her arms around him, letting out a little cry as her fractured wrist hit his shoulder. "Oh, oh ow!"

The pain was fine! Just so she had him! Him always and forever in her arms! Oh the passion! Oh the wonder!

"Oh Jett! I love you! I love you, we should get married! We should get married and ride off into the sunset! We should be together always!"

Life was so wonderful! So completely beautiful!

She pulled away from the male just slightly, and for the second time in a very short while, locked lips with a boy. Though, this time it was with the boy she had really wanted to kiss in the first place.

"Joce! Jocelin!" Amy rushed over to her friend's side, the pain from her ankle slowing her down as she tried to check on her. She must have done something to her shoulder, but it was hard to keep track of everything that was going on.

Before she was able to listen for a response, she felt the air above her change. That damn bat was back, and she wasn't ready again. Throwing her right arm up as she tried to make sure it couldn't get to Joce or Regina, she felt her arm wet. From blood. It had somehow sliced up her arm, and suddenly Amy was feeling very, very lightheaded. As she tried to push the thing away, it gave her quite the bite on her hand before swirling around to ready another attack. Her whole right arm was feeling nearly useless now.

There were no words to say, and she knew that if she screamed again she would probably pass out. And if that happened...she would die.

Harmony woke up and the first thing she noticed was the very vivid pain she felt at her side. She rolled over with a groan of pain and felt along her side until she stumbled across the source of the pain, a few broken ribs, and screamed. She didn't remember when this happened. When she opened her eyes again and found the world bathed in color she assumed she was simply hallucinating from the pain.

Then she looked down and realized she was a bright shade of purple herself.

Normally something like this would be passed off as a bad dream and nothing more but the pain was preventing her from really buying into the dreamscape. Using logic, which admittedly she wasn't very good at, she had to determine this was real. And if it was real she had to deal with seriously creepy bats, broken ribs, and the fact that a rainbow seemed to have puked on every single person in the room.

She kinda wished for her camera. This would be an interesting shoot...

She forced herself to her knees, stiffling more cries of pain. She needed to get to someone else, ally up. She certainly didn't know how to fight alone and her selfish instinct told her to get someone to do the fighting for her. It was a solid strategy, never taking on more than she knew she could handle. She wanted to make sure she came out of this, whatever it was, alive.

When she got to her feet she noticed she felt good, alive, and wanted to hold onto that feeling no matter what the cost, even if it meant someone else taking the costs for her. She spotted a guy across the room...crying. But he appeared unhurt. She might be able to use that to her advantage. She walked over, putting her a brave but kind of pitiful face. The bats noticed her now that she was up and moving and were coming to do their worst.

"Please! Help me!"

Life was awful, so absolutely awful. The extra weight of Raven against him was agony on his tailbone and lower back, and her lips—her lips that had already been on some strange boy’s not but an hour ago were pressed against his, contaminating him with her germs and his. She hadn’t brushed her teeth—or chewed gum, or used mouthwash. No, this was not just Raven he was kissing, it was Darwin.

And it was awful.

And yet, as the pain from the initial contact ebbed, suddenly it wasn’t so bad. Her lips were warm, and soft, and soothing and sweet—and her body was pressed sointimately against his. He couldn’t return the hug fully without falling backwards, so, using his left hand to prop himself up, he slowly wrapped his right arm around her lower torso as he parted his lips, returning the kiss.

He was afraid of Darwin’s germs—of the bats, of the whale off in the distance, of the blood and cries and crumbling road—but, damn. This was good.

Layton looked up at Felix dully. "I ... don't want to move. There's no point after all." She then looked back at the ground dully. It was odd, her speech lacked all of the usually timidity and varied tones; instead it was an odd sort of monotone filled with a rich pallet of boredom and listlessness.

Actually, Layton wanted to do nothing more than cry her eyes out over the pain in her hand, and then tell Felix not to kick her brother. Something within her ... made her staid. She was bored, and she didn't care about anything in the world. Some deep part of her was freaking out completely over her lack of care, but she couldn't do a single thing about it.

To his question, she simply said, "I think my hand is hurt. Oh well." As if she could less of a ********. As if she could care her brother was a crying, weeping, kicked mess.

She continued staring at the ground, and then in a sudden movement, stretched herself out and layed down on the rainbow road like it was a cushy bed. She just sat back and said, "Why don't you just sit down Felix? It's not like any of this matters."

Grant heard a lot of screaming. A lot of cries of pain and fear. Everyone in the middle of their personal hell: each one fighting as hard as they could, and some being badly wounded in the process.

It was soul crushing.

He heard hopelessness and helplessness. He heard fear and rage, and understood why people were feeling them. Not that it was some sort of magic spell and they were really in space, so much, but that things were strange and they were all coping as best they could in this shared nightmare, or hallucination, or trick of a very well put together set.

Whatever it was, he was in it now, and he was starting to believe in this world, accept its rules, and roll with those punches. Except without the aid of his relentless optimism. Instead, he felt very much like he was teetering constantly on the edge of a breakdown. It was strange, as he had no experience being hormonal. He moved on from shocked sorrow to depressing determination, full of pity for everything around him while being barely able to bear it all, and he listened as bones snapped around him. Bodies hit the floor, or scrabbled to get up from it. Bats shrieked and fluttered, making wet noises when their fangs met flesh.

He heard all this, but didn't see it. He had closed his eyes.

Just standing there, possibly in the way, with his eyes closed.
