Rouge chuckled, flying down to the gates.
"Justin may be in first place, but I'm coming in second!" Knuckles declared, grinning.
"Dream on!" Luna caught up with them, smirking slightly.

Justin made it down to the gates with a large jump, kicking up a bit of snow as he landed. He smiled and took a bow, simply because he was proud of his little stunt.

Knuckles and Luna skidded to a stop at the bottom. They looked at each other.
"Just so you know, I totally beat you."
"Yeah right. It was ME who beat YOU."
"You two are as bad and Sonic and Shadow." Rouge said, touching down. She noted two legs and two tails sticking out from a snow drift.
"A little help here?" came Tails' muffled voice.

Justin walked over to Tails, pulling the little fox from the snow. "You all right, Tails?" He asked his young friend.

Tails was covered in white flakes. He shook his furr, sending the snow flying. Then he smiled. "Can we do that again?!"
Knuckles chuckled. "Later. Right now, let's go catch up with the speed freaks."
"Somebody call for a speed freak?" asked Sonic, pushing open the gates and walking through them. "Shadow's gone to use the little boys' room." He added, seeing Luna raise her eyebrows.

"I'M SO CONFUSED AS TO WHERE THIS SONIC BLADDER JOKE CAME FROM!" Sonic clutched his hair-spikes, looking deranged.
Knuckles laughed. "Maybe it's because you always wet yourself or your bed when you were five."
"Don't all little kids do that?"
"Everynight and every day?" Knuckles grinned.

"As funny as I'm sure the topic of Sonic's bladder is," said Shadow's voice, and they all spun around to see him, "I found someone on my way back."
"You're early. Good. You aren't here at the last second." Tails Doll said, floating behind him. The usual creepiness was in the air, but he himself wasn't as freaky as usual. He almost looked like the cute Tails, only floating.

Justin stared at Doll for a second. For some reason, the stitched up fox wasn't as creepy as usual.

Rouge placed her hands on her hips, folding up her wings and tilting her head to the side. "Are you sure you're Tails Doll?" She asked suspiciously.
"Yes," Doll looked at her. His peircing stare was still horrible.
Rouge closed her eyes, so as to avoid seeing it. "Yep, you're Tails Doll." She shivered.
"Guess it's just we've gotten used to you for the most part." Knuckles said, shrugging.

Justin nodded. That made a bit of sense. I mean, Doll has shown up a lot, so Justin kinda got used to him.

Shadow looked up at the sky. It was getting dark. "Night is falling. I suggest you all go to sleep. You'll need it, believe me." He said quietly, returning his gaze down onto them. Actually, just Sonic. "Especially you, Hedgehog."
"Why just me? Don't tell me I have to fight Metal single handedly or anything...." He paled, and this was just visable in the dimming light.
"Something like that...." The corner of Shadow's mouth twitched, as if wanting to smirk but not being allowed to.

Justin gave Shadow a bit of a glare. Something WAS wrong with the black hedgehog, and he was gonna find out.

Luna wanted to know right now. Her eyes narrowed. "Okay Shadow, spill it. You're hiding something, and I want to know what." She snapped, crossing her arms.
"I hide a lot of things, Luna. Things like my love for you. You have to be more specific." Shadow replied coolly, looking at her, hands in his pockets.
Luna blushed slightly. She also seemed to let up a little. "Why are you being such a jerk?"
"That's just how I am. What more do you want from me? I'm sorry that I can't be such a great guy like Sonic." He said quietly. But it wasn't the usual softness in his voice. It was more like....The calm before the storm.
"I mean why are you being even more of a jerk then usual?"
"I've been thinking a lot lately. About our world, and how awful humans have made it. So much hate, violence, despair...." He did not look at her.
Luna's anger had suddenly become sadness. Sympathetic.
Rouge, sensing Luna's weakening, continued herself. "So you decided to add even more hate and violence and despair? You think doing that will make everything better?"
