Lena ran into the Dojo. She looked around for Hiro as she caught her breath. "H-Hiro?" she panted. No sign of him. Lena frowned and looked at the ground. Dang, how long was I out? she thought.

he caught up to lena "lena...i forgot to tell you. nobody's seen Hiro for days." he held out the pearl. "i'm sorry Lena. i'm afraid we've had to fear the worst." he sighed

Lena quickly turned to face Nikolai, not even noticing the pearl. "What?! H-How long have I been out???" she asked, wide-eyed.

"a couple days. after you said you'd be back, he sort of vanished." he said sulking "i'm very sorry. ive assumed the worst....that he left the school. but...never lose hope!" he said, trying to lighten the mood

Lena's eyes teared up. She began to walk around aimlessly in the Dojo. "W-Why would he just leave? Did s-something happen? I-Is it because of me?" she whispered to herself.

he walked over to Lena "we don't know. all anybody knows is that you told him that you would be back, and then poof, he vanished." he said putting a hand on her shoulder "i'm so sorry Lena, i wish i knew what to do"

Lena avoided eye contact. It was like everytime she fell in love, something would have to ruin it. "Oh." she managed to say, looking flushed.

he sighed, trying to comfort her "well....at least....I am still here." he said, hoping that would make her feel better. "as long as i am still here, hope is never lost"

"...Yeah..." Lena whispered. She looked into Nikolai's eyes. Her eyes were tired and depressed. "I'm....I'm going to go get some sleep..." she mumbled and began to walk away.

he caught her before she left "wait, you forgot something" he held out not the pearl, but beautiful pearl earrings

Lena turned around and looked at the earrings. Her eyes widened a little as she took the earrings. "Oh, they're so beautiful." she whispered and smiled gently at Nikolai. "How did you make these?"

he shrugged "i had some left over gold and hooks in my pocket. i got a rock, smashed the pearl, smoothed it out, and attached the gold and hooks. no big deal" he smiled gently back

Lena smiled weakly, but her eyes were still very sad. "Thank you." she said softly and turned around.
