Be good... Lorika, having sat down and prepared herself to watch him eat, felt as if the Overseer had just slaughtered a baby seal in front of her.
"Wh-what did you do that for?!"
...and you will be lonesome.

Harata laughed. "That's one good use of war, i suppose. I wish I could gain weight. My body doesn't seem to want to go above 110 pounds, even though I am somewhere between 5' 11" and 5' 10"."

Caught red handed, and not quite understanding why Lorika sounded so surprised, he stammered back at her, "I-I ... oh, I thought it had gone bad. It did not look like food ..."
He stared at the last of the thick brown stew dripping from the container, and immediately righted it to save it. He stared at the thick puddle in the grass, and then stared back at the container. Grimacing again, the Overseer could still not bring himself to even try to salvage what was left inside. Instead he held the container out to the priestess so she could have it back.

Be good... Her shock melted into sympathy at his explanation. She took the container back quietly, replacing the lid and putting it back in the hidden bag.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you. Well... that was the only food I'd brought... now it looks like we'll have to head back sooner rather than later..."
She sighed, and reached out to take his hand again. "It is destroying me to see you so lost and confused. When we get back, perhaps you would indulge in one of my sleeping potions, so that you are able to get the good, deep sleep you need to begin thinking clearly?"
She pondered for a moment before continuing. "Perhaps we do not have to go back to the Temple just yet. I have keys to all of the buildings in our possession, and I'm sure the Captain would not mind if you were to take up residence in his lodge..."
Lorika moved to stand up, still keeping hold of his hand. "Are you cold, my Lord? My cloak is down there on the beach; I'll fetch it for you, if you so desire."
...and you will be lonesome.

He ducked his head in shame, and stuck with staring at the stew in the grass and dirt while the high priestess spoke to him. His fingers tightened around hers, and waited patiently while she debated out loud what to do next and offered the cloak. Shaking his head, motioning that he did not need it, he was slow to stand with her, his thoughts becoming muddled again to think of what he had done. Already a few bugs and ants had found the food, happily swimming in the gravy and his stomach did flip-flop - so very hungry but the stew had looked repulsive.
"If ... if you think that is wise. I would rather prefer to at least to attempt to fill the station as best I can, and do what is within my power ..." He paused, feeling as if he had missed something altogether vital, of something he had to do before he could sleep easy. "There is no reason to treat me as if I am something fragile. I have dealt with the Order so far. There is no reason for me to hide."

Be good... Lorika began frowning as he spoke. "Didn't I say that it doesn't matter to me what you -"
She sighed, and began pulling him towards the edge. "Nevermind. It's clear to me now that your state of mind is deteriorating rapidly. You need to rest and recover," here, she gave him a great, stern look that was ruined by the onset of a smile as she laughed inwardly at herself "And if I must order you to bed and slip some sleeping draught into your tea, I shall."
Sliding down the verge, hand in hand with the Overseer, was much easier than being hefted up it. At the bottom, she dusted herself off and turned to him again. "I am a healer, my Lord. Treating the ill and exhausted is what I do. You are my Overseer, but... please. Just let me treat you, too."
...and you will be lonesome. (( Kay I'd better go to bed within the next 2 posts. Is it okay if we head to the Captain's place and tuck you up offscreen? If indeed that course of action would be favourable...? It's like Pseudoverseer's brain is melting as the rp goes on o____o ))

(("I'D LIKE A SLICE OF THAT FINE PIECE OF DROW, IF YOU PLEASE." Hurrhurr~ And huzzah for super delayed responses! It's not like I passed out or anything! Psh... get real, ugaiz. >U>; I'msorryLoriilu! 3))
"Ahaha... I honestly have no clue where to begin. Everything looks lovely." she answered, carefully reaching out to a plate to gather her share after everyone in the table had done so; another custom she'd picked up from her time back home. But her hand refused to move. She knew why.
Coline's brow furrowed significantly as she slowly released her hold on the serving spoon. It was at that time that she noticed the Captain turn to her. She could only assume that he'd taken notice. "I'm sorry, but I can't." she said, turning him apologetically. "It feels wrong to celebrate when High Priestess Lorika... and the Overseer... they could be starving..." she trailed off.
She sat there for a few moments, lost in thought, before regarding the Captain with a slight smile. "I had a wonderful time, sir. Thank you. Should you need me, I will be standing guard by the main entrance." And with that she stood, gave the Captain a curt bow, and paced out of the dining hall.
Slinging the blanket roughly about her form Coline gripped at the spear firmly and resumed her spot outside by the Temple doors. As much as she hated to have ruined a pleasant afternoon with the Captain she felt that her duty as a soldier of the Benevolent Order took priority, especially now that two prominent figures were nowhere to be found.

(( That was how I thought this would end up. And why yes, he is off his rocker right now, considering. )) At her first words, he could only look so much more confused until it became comical, and thankfully the long awkward pause he would have let occur never came to be. Lorika continued on, and he smiled feebly at her joke that wasn't a joke, her threatening him playfully. He couldn't even muster up a suitable rebuttal. More sleep sounded wonderful, even forced. He followed her, listening, and he thought it was the strangest thing that she needed to be begging him so she could make sure he was taken care of. "I will not run off again." He promised, and feeling that was enough to say on that matter. "If you are sure the Captain does not mind, I'm sure all I have now is time, and I am no good to you know how I am ..." "Could I ask you a personal question? Please. What was your relation to the Overseer during the war? ... and if you could tell me more of what he was like, I think it would help me remember."

Be good... "I was his servant," she answered - quite quickly, and without a hunt of doubt. It was true; none of the strange feelings she now felt had been there before. "I was his assistant. Where he went, I went, always a pace behind. I enforced all his decisions and gave talks and rallies. My name did not inspire fear amongst SIN, but..." she smiled, glancing at him "You are not the only beacon of hope here, my Lord."
The priestess' tone became thoughtful. "What he was like... what always struck me about him was his patience. He was like a firm oak tree that had stood the test of time, with roots that ran down to the center of Gaia. He was kind, and liked to mingle with his followers, and they all flocked to him even though he was really quite stern and serious." Her smile morphed into a teasing smirk. "So, nothing like you at all, really."
Giggling, she slipped her arm through his and pulled herself close before he had a chance to feel upset or offended. "There, there, now. Stop thinking so much about what you were, and try thinking instead of what you have the potential to become."
"...AFTER you've had a nice, long sleep, of course."
...and you will be lonesome.

(( -flails arms- Good night! I am going to be lazy and skip my next post because my headache is coming back. Officially he's now tucked safely into bed and sleeping, please and thank you. Looks like Pseudoverseer made it there in the Captian's bed before Nii did. )) As they walked across the island, the priestess's words came as a comfort to him. He hung on every description, of herself and the Overseer and took it for scripture, mostly because he never considered that people could lie to him. It made sense to him. Now he could finally breathe another sigh of relief. Those nagging doubts teasing him without mercy where banished. The paranoia that he had forgotten something important were soothed for the moment, and the scattered thoughts of his mind dropped another level in their frenzy. Her words reminded him more to be calm, patient, noble - much like the small clam had done with its silent presence. Stalwart and thinking it natural that people wanted to be close to him, he accepted her teasing and her closeness without protest. He used the long trek they had to make back to the temple as a time to sort through his choices. Wondering what was to come, it felt like he could be on the brink of a breakthrough. He trusted her now, and only once, off-handedly, reminded the priestess that maybe she should stop the news of his memory loss. But he didn't make much of a conversationalist after he accepted the sleeping potion, and perhaps it was all for the better, because his mumbled words were only repeats of what he had tried to request before.
