Parachutes are effectively the same thing and pretty much could be used in the same way. Think of it as an upgrade. They're lighter, being made from just one material, silk and can be used in a few more situations...like given the example, Base Jumping where as Kites have a bit of disadvantage at that point.

It says you could learn techniques on your own, so does that mean I can start training the basic academy jutsu without a person directly teaching me?

Well the Chuunin exams would be rather useful, however what about a festival of some kind. Perhaps celebrating the end of a war or something equally momentous.
There wouldn't be any -to the death fights- and it would be a good opportunity for some of us to test out those Cha based skills.

I'm thinking of like.. an all out "cry for help" kinda thing by Otogakure.. or maybe whatever Gid had planned for Kirigakure would be cool? Idk, I just want something to happen D:

Skill Suggestion: Harvesting,
Specifically harvesting ingredients from plants, animals, shinobi takes some kind of skill, especially if you intend to have useful ingredients for crafting. It make sense that one would become skillful in this kind of endeavor and therefore get more out of the materials they harvest.

Fubuki, is a clan that is listed in the old clan directory. Is this clan still available? If so, is it possible to join even though I might be in a different village?

[Not a mod] My opinion is that it's most likely closed.. it's one of the more advanced clans and it was even restricted when the owner was active, but now they're not, I doubt anybody will have one again until we update the clan, which will not be for a long while by the looks of it. Most of the other clans are open, except for a select few that are unbalanced. Feel free to pick any other* clan? P: *subject to Qyp's opinion most likely.

Couldn't that get quite aggressive? What about a competition to spend the most time with as many other people as possible. Create a thread for a week and then tot up the training. Give a bonus to those who participate. The more romance the users engage in, without going above PG, the more they are rewarded with experience.
I doubt this would be to everyone's taste, but it would encourage writers to flex those literary muscles. We might see poetry and song writing too. Not to mention the relationships that could spring up because of it heart

Fubuki, the loop hole Ice Release clan?
That's a clan I would never touch. Why? Proto owns it. She also owns Senju and Hyuuga. Which I will never touch. Even though they are actually canon clans... she has authority over them.
