«<{› ¤The Crusade¤ ‹}>»

Inside the bar, the soldier facing off against Azen demonstrated something of his youth and inexperience, despite his obvious training and quick reactions; he paused, studying the bigger knight carefully... contemplating how to advance. When Azen abruptly darted for the counter, the movement caught the soldier by surprise... which explained why, a mere instant later, he charged in quick pursuit, his sword darting back in preparation to stab.

Fortunately, such a movement put the blade in a place to be quickly shifted into a two-handed block as Azen's heavy blade cleaved through the air towards him, the impact of steel on steel sounding with an almost klaxon ringing peal through the common room. The sheer force of the impact from such a heavy blade, combined with the surprise the soldier suffered, was more than enough to send him staggering once more, clattering into one of the tables and over in a tumble... though, as before, his youth and speed made it obvious it would only take a moment for him to be righted and advancing once more.

Chased by the sound of a very vicious string of profanities and a crash of cookware as whomever had come through the door "caught" the flour bag, Talise and Domini's panicked flight came to a brief pause at the locked exit. As Talise deftly worked her wiles on the heavy lock, Rosso watched, wringing her hands in more than a little distress, despite the shortness of the necessary delay. Once outside, Domini freed her hand and slammed the doors shut behind them, and used whatever wooden object that could readily be snatched to ram into the handles of the cellar doors, turning it into a makeshift barricade.

Once that was attended to, Domini found herself snagged once more, and dragged towards Ky and Eva, her mismatched eyes widening in dissension. Shaking her head in vigorous protest, she started to back away from the offered hands... until a sullen emanated from the temporarily barred doors behind. That, combined with the shouts and clatter of hooves coming around from the front of the building decided her... she quickly braced a foot in Talise's hands, and boosted herself awkwardly up behind Eva, her definitively Elven weight not causing much strain to either Talise, or the horse.

Heron nods and releases her. He suddenly slaps his forehead in a manner that would suggest he has forgotten something very obvious. He smiles broadly and exclaims, "Bah, would you look at me! I'm getting familiar with you and I haven't even properly introduced myself yet with all the commotion. I'm Heron Dalearin, I'm an apprentice under Kae'drynn Ishtarealm. This is my senior, Un'Aerith Fareryniel." He cordially motions to the other blue haired elf beside him.

He looks to Aerith and says, "I guess we're following you then. I can't wait to get back and tell Naelonni about what happened today. She's going to be sorry she missed out." In all honesty, Heron did not like being away from her for too long. It felt wrong to him, and he wanted to correct it.

Aerith did her best to ignore the hormone induced antics of her fellow ward. It really shouldn't surprise you, the sardonic voice of her inner monologue pipes up, this is the same boy that has been doing his best to memorize the curves of your bum for the last couple of weeks... Her eyes flicker over the new young woman. She seemed far more gullible than Aerith ever was, perhaps even more so than the sister. Maybe the Kae'dryn would join her in a bet as to how long it took these two to hook up. The thought brings a smile to her lips, which then is directed to the young woman as Heron introduces her, accompanied by a faint nod of greeting.

"Indeed.. if possible, it would be best for you to wait to get 'familiar' with each other until we reach the tower," she informs them politely, "I can claim with some certainty that the Kae'dryn was not expecting company today. We really should make haste back to the tower. She is not fond of these types of surprises."

Turning from the two, Aerith pulls her hood back over her long, azure strands and heads off away from the market. Leading them past the protective walls of Irrilaeth, Aerith descends upon the familiar path towards the tower, a treacherous and jagged trail cutting its way through the steep mountain slopes. The others following her find it difficult to converse as they travel, the howl of the chilly mountain wind whipping through the corridors easily drowning out any attempts of verbal exchange.

Situated deep within the rocky heights of the Kael'dorei mountains, the Kae'dryn's tower was often a popular choice for pranks from the city guards. They enjoyed directing newcomers to report to the hard to reach tower, then placed bets around how far each victim would endure before retreating back to the safety of the city. Fortunately, between the easily confusing maze of rock ways and the protective wards placed upon the area, few ever made it to the tower itself.

Towards the end of that treacherous path, the walkway began to meander away from the mountain face that supported Irrilaeth, diverting itself towards a separate peak. Nestled in between those two locations, the path began to widen quite notably, developing into something of a small valley, surrounded on most sides by stark shearing cliffs. That small valley was home to a stunningly appointed garden, as beautiful to the eye as it was to the olfactory, and auditory senses, all obviously carefully sheltered from the vicious winds by some sort of magical field. The garden itself ran all the way to the face of the tall, slender elven tower that capped, and terminated, that small valley, its runed and scrolled surface allowing no small amount of ivy to climb a short distance up its surface. The path itself terminated (albeit with several side-paths going through the garden itself) at an enclosed alcove sheltering a set of beautifully ornate double-doors, at which Aerith pauses.

Reaching a hand out towards the door, Aerith murmurs a quiet chant, temporarily releasing the binds protecting the archway. Glancing back, her eyes pass over the two following her and scan the area behind them, searching for the unstable visitor they were sure to expect sometime today. "Heron, why don't you take the young lady inside? I will follow you shortly."

(( Stole a bit of Thorne's earlier description of the tower there, just in case any of our new members missed it the first time around ^.^ ))

Heron smiles broadly to Aerith and nods before turning his attention back to the young lady, as well as tapering his smile down a few notches. He shifts the parcels around into one arm and opens one of the grand doors. The young ward then takes a step the the side and theatrically waves his arms toward the entrance, "After you."

Cyrillia, whom had been awed by the grand appearance of the Tower, turned her emerald eyes to Heron and smiled sweetly at him, "Thank you." she gave a small curtsy and entered, her eyes growing to look almost like small saucers. She had never seen such a place to look so enchanting, though it didn't appear to enchanting, it held a certain amount of magic and power around it giving her a sense of warmth inside.

She turned to where she had seen Aerith, "Thank you very much for leading me here." she bowed her head, allowing the gem on her forehead to sparkle from the light that poured through the door from the sun. "I truly wish I can repay you one day." she added.

___With the two swords clashing, Azen's twist was slowed down, allowing him to get his balance back and face the guard and the exit once more. Just as Asgard thought there was his chance to escape from the fight and join with Talise and Domini again(if he could find them), the young guard got up again and back into a fighting stance, being the only obstacle between the swordsman and the exit door once more. The dark knight frowned and silently sighed. "Not bad, rookie, but if you'll excuse me, I have to leave now." Bringing his oversized weapon in front of him, placing the blade diagonally and pointing down, Azen charged the Paladin in hope of either tackling him out of the way, or forcing him to dodge; his sword, placed the way it was, was more of a defence than anything else. Having a hand on the handle and the other on the blade itself(even if he risked being injured) would help him move the blade swift enough to deflect a thrust or partially block a swipe.

When Heron takes in that smile he can swear that just for a moment he couldn't feel his legs. To say that the young elf is smitten with what he considers a blessing from the gods would be an understatement. He had been attracted to other elves before, present company included. Yet he had never really seen them as more than objects of his young male fantasies. This one, though, he feels strange around her.

After she steps inside, he takes a few shaky steps behind her before getting the feeling back in his legs. Jogging up beside her, parcels still in hand, he stammers out, "I'd lo...I mean...like to show you around right now, but I have to put up these scrolls. Would you like to accompany me to the library?"

She turned to him now, her eyes focusing on his face and features, and smiled sweetly, "Oh yes." she clasped her hands in front of her excitedly almost as if she were going to pray. "I'd love that very much, Heron." she paused a moment, her smile fading into something which could be seen as puzzlement. "What are the scrolls? If I may ask." she brought her pales hand behind her back and tilted to one side cutely, waiting for his response.

Heron smiles brightly at Cryillia's excitement. That and he very much liked it when she said is name. "Oh...um, these old things? Mostly historic texts and potions. I'm not really sure about it, but if Kae'drynn wants it then it must be important." He nods and stands there for a moment not saying anything. That is until he could feel the awkward silence crushing his chest.

He inhales sharply, "So...it's just down that hallway, follow me." Heron turns and starts walking down the hall just in time to hide the rosy hue that had painted his face suddenly.

Cyrillia followed, her hands still clasped behind her back, she looked around the old tower in awe. She found herself focusing all her attention on her surroundings which caused in her bumping into Heron on several occasions. "Ah.. I-I'm so sorry." she flailed, bowing her head multiple times. "I don't mean to keep bumping into you, Heron." she began, slightly frowning by her clumsiness. She brightened up a moment and brought her clasped hands in front of her chest, "Oh.. perhaps.. I may stand beside you instead of behind you?" she asked.

Heron swallows hard as his inner male proceeds to force itself to the surface. It belittles him with taunts, dares, and expressed desire to act as he did at the market. Foolishly Heron agrees with the impish voice. After all, he thinks, she's already into me. He figures all he needs to do is play it suave and let the rest work itself out.

While still walking, he turns his head back toward Cyrillia and says as he rounds the last corner, "You know, that's a fantastic idea. It's a much better way for me to gaze upon your endless beau..."

His "smooth" advance is abruptly interrupted by the very large door that he had his eyes turned away from. With a resounding thud he rams his foot into the door, followed by a second thud from his forehead when he bends over in pain to grasp it instinctively. His brain thoroughly rattled, he topples over backwards onto his rear. He rubs his head with his free hand while his face turns a deep crimson.

With deep embarrassment he waves his hand to the door and says, "We're here."

She gasped and lightly placed her hand over her mouth. She swirled over to in front of him though appeared as if gliding along the ground due to her long dress that hid her feet most of the time. "My! Heron, are you alright?" she now asked, hovering over him with a concern look playing along her facial features.

She took note of the small red mark on his forehead, where he had bonked it when running into the door. Cyrillia bent down to his eye level and brought her hand up to his forehead, her cool paled fingers ran over the red mark lightly, "Does it hurt?" she whispered worriedly.

Heron finds himself very much tempted to throw himself into her arms and bury his face into her chest while sobbing like a child that had just scraped his knee. Thankfully his machismo overpowered that urge.

When Cyrillia touches the goose egg on his, head Heron very much finds himself whimpering on the inside. The outside, though, was going something more like this.

"Psht, hurt? This is nothing. One time I fought off a thief single handed, and he left me with this scar." He displays his left hand which has a large scar running along the outside of his index finger. "This bump is nothing." He boasts.

He hops up with gusto and clears his throat, "Ahem, sorry for the delay Cyrillia. As I mentioned earlier, we're here at the library." Heron opens the grand door and reveals the enormous book depository that Kae'drynn Ishtarelm has at her disposal.

"Oh my! Heron that's so amazing." she added before he got up with such excitement and pushed open the doors to the library. Her eyes grew huge as did her smile. "Oh my...." she breathed. "How extraordinary." she clasped her hands together in front of her, as if to pray, "What a wondrously large place." she took in the room surroundings and decorations slowly before stating, "An so many large books."

Heron grins as he places the scrolls in their proper place. It had taken him the better part of a week to figure out where everything was in this labyrinth of knowledge. Of course this was due in part to his tendency to fall asleep without warning. The task should have only taken three days at most. Two if Naelonni hadn't taken to her own tendencies and began skimming through books on a whim.

After securing the items he brought back from the town, Heron walks over to the young lady and smiles. He states with pride, "There is a wealth of knowledge within these walls. One day my sister and I will leave this place. We will be made wise by the teachings of Kae'drynn Ishtarelm."

Nice, Heron thinks to himself. That should gain some favor for me.

He gazes upon Cyrillia and comments, "I couldn't help but notice the lovely jewel upon your delicate brow. It suits you quite well."

She smiled, a light tint of pink rose up over her normally pale cheeks, "T-thank you very much." shyly and excitedly she bowed her head, once again allowing both her hair and the jewel to shine from the lights that poured down from the top of the room.

"Oh!" she straightened, running her hands along her dress to smooth it out again. "You said you had a sister, right?" she asked cheerfully. "That must be nice having siblings." she clasped her hands in front of her, "Sometimes I wish I had brothers or sisters."
