✮ It Takes A Lot To Know A Person:
xxxxx Shion is a kind young man with an astounding IQ, having been tested at a young age to be among the top of his peers. He specializes in ecology, and is naturally curious about many things. While usually very gentle and calm, he is quick to fly into a rage when Nezumi is insulted ot threatened. He's not even afraid to kill in this state, as he feels Nezumi is the most important person to him.
Despite his intellect, he can be utterly clueless about many things and has a very naive outlook on life in general. Many innuendos and other teasing comments from Nezumi go completely over his head, much to the other's amusement and annoyance. ✮ History Lesson ✮ ✮ The Good Old Days:
xxxxx Shion once lived in the lap of luxury in the Chronos district of No.6, having been accepted to a specialized education course only for the best of his peers. However, his life turned upside down on his 12th birthday, when he met a wounded, drenched Nezumi. He treated the other boy's wound, offered him food and shelter for the night, and as a result was stripped of all his privileges, having to relocate to the district of Lost Town, where his mother opened a bakery and he himself began to work as a public park caretaker.
At 16, another dramatic change occurred. Shion witnessed the death of his coworker caused by a parasitic wasp, and was arrested as a suspect for murder as part of a government cover-up. Nezumi showed up, rescuing him, and together they fled outside No.6, into the slums of West Block. Having been infected by the bee as well, Shion came close to dying, but was yet again saved by Nezumi. The incident however changed Shion's appearance - his hair turned pure white, his eyes crimson, and a mark resembling a red snake coiled around his body appeared from nowhere.
The two of them began living together, neither having been able to forget the other over the years. They butted heads many times, but the deep connection between the two grew ever stronger.
When his childhood friend's life was in danger, Shion attempted to sneak away from Nezumi, not wanting to put his precious friend in harm's way. Yet his companion saw through his facade, and promptly punished him for having tried to kiss him goodbye. Together, they embarked on a dangerous mission to save Shion's friend, Safu, and the things the boy saw within the correctional facility have left some emotional scars in him. Ultimately, their mission was a failure, as Safu was already beyond rescuing..
In an ultimate display of attachment, Shion ended up shooting a man who had gravely injured Nezumi, causing the more stoic male to cry in front of him for the first time. Soon after, Nezumi came close to dying, after taking a bullet for Shion, but the latter would not allow it. Determined to not lose the person most precious to him, he urged their comrades to head into the city through the chaos and get Nezumi into a proper hospital. They were hardly allowed a moment's rest as the hospital was attacked by soldiers, and all over the city people were dying from the parasitic bees Shion had been saved from - the insects were actually the 'children' of the nature goddess Elyurias. Nezumi, being the last of the Mao forest people, was the last living 'Singer' able to appease the goddess, and together with Shion they managed to plead with her, with some assistance from Safu who had now become one being with Elyurias.
The walls of the city gone, people began to live new lives, and Shion and Nezumi briefly parted ways, the latter vowing to return eventually.. and he kept his promise.
