Sorri's senses weren't fooling him, there was definitely an atmosphere of decay in the area that he had found himself in. When he had landed on the tree that he chose to perch upon, a few of its branches knocked into another nearby tree and startled a couple of infected birds out of it. These birds resembled crows, but they were about twice as large. They also had jagged, distored beaks and their eyes had become so bloodshot that they almost glowed with a deep red hue. Their feathers had red and purple spots, marking the spread of the infection.

The two birds didn't happen to see Sorri, but from his vantage, he would be able to tell that they carried the limbs of a person in their beaks. The pair of infected creatures slowly flew off in the direction of the Forest of Sorrows and it was clear that they wouldn't get very far, as the infection had slowed their speed of flight. Sorri could either choose to persue these animals to the Forest of Sorrows, or report the situation to Sukotto, who was located at the top of the waterfall, inside of a cavern. It was clear where his location was, as the Uchiha's squad was making their way towards this place.

[Infected Crows Exit to Forest of Sorrows]

Choice for Sorri:

1. Follow the infected crows on his own without any knowledge of the area that they have flown to. He would have to exit to the Forest of Sorrows.

2. Report to Sukotto in the underground cavern which is at the top of the waterfall.

Sukotto nodded in response to Akiko's call, she had done well in luring the creature away from the villager. The Uchiha formed his hands into five of the six seals of his most powerful jutsu, took a deep breath, allowed the air to become superheated within his lungs, and then formed the sixth seal, igniting the air. He then pressed his index and middle fingers together and then positioned them near his lower lip, as this always assisted him with aiming. Finally, the Chuunin blew four quick bursts of air out of his lips, which instantly ignited into flame as they escaped his mouth. 'Hōsenka no Jutsu!' The four fireballs swiftly flew towards the crab, and would strike it in four separate locations where the beast's armor wasn't protecting it. Since he had remained in hiding, Sukotto had the advantage of taking this extra time in aiming his attack at the infected creature.

First Three Fireballs
[1d20+65(Ninjutsu)+27(Sneak Attack + Sharingan Bonus)= 98]

Fourth Fireball
[1d20+65(Ninjutsu)+27(Sneak Attack + Sharingan Bonus)= 111]

[Cp: 90-15(Activation)-15(Three Additional Fireballs)= 60/104]

Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu [Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu]
This jutsu sends multiple balls of fire at a target from the user's mouth. The fireballs are small, but fast. Its easy for the user to spam at least 5 within two seconds. Their range isn't a very long one though. Since they are small fireballs, the tend to disperse thinly as the fly through the air.
Cp Cost: 15 + 5 per ball
Damage per ball: 3 to 7 + chakra mod
Requirement: 20 ranks of Ninjutsu, Fire Affinity
Seals: Rat, Tiger, Dog, Ox, Hare, Tiger
Avoid: Dodge or Ninjutsu
Special: You can fire up to 3 balls per dice.

The crab was no match for Akiko and Sukotto. As soon as the fireballs struck it, the beast exploded into flames. When the burning would cease, there would be nothing left of the crab except its ashes. Finally, yet another creature had been freed of the infection that had plagued its body. The villager that the crab had been eating was laying lifelessly near the rock that they had been smashed against. The two shinobi had in fact ended the crab's activities in a swift manner, but would that be enough to save the villager?

The Uchiha took in a deep breath of air and released it. A bit of steam noticeably trailed out of his mouth as he exhaled. He had used the Phoenix Flower many times in the past, but it had still managed to tire him out quite a bit. He quickly made his way over to the motionless lump of villager that had been tossed aside by the crab when Akiko had caught the beast's attention. The sight was fairly gruesome, as not only had the crab been feasting on the villager, but the infection had also clearly taken its hold. Sukotto took the person's pulse and there was absolutely no sign of life within their body. The two shinobi had failed to arrive in time to save the villager. The Uchiha sighed and looked in Akiko's direction, merely shaking his head as their eyes met. "There is nothing more we could do or could have done, even if your aunt Yuki herself was here. We're going to have to move on so that we can prevent any more of these situations from happening to the remaining villagers." Akiko had quite a unique mind and Sukotto wasn't sure if she would take the situation lightly, or if it would weigh on her. His first guess was that it wouldn't affect her as much as it would affect most others of her age. He wasn't quite sure why he felt this way, it was just a hunch. In any case, they needed to move on.

"As I'm sure you have guessed, that staff is probably at least part of this infection problem." Sukotto wondered what sort of jutsu was required to create such a disaster. He was both disgusted and slightly fascinated with the subject, as he wanted to be strong enough to stop techniques of that nature. "I wish it was as simple as just removing the staff, but I doubt that anyone with that sort of power would make it that easy, so there is probably some sort of advanced trap laced within it. The only thing we can do is report this information to Himoto and hope that she has some knowledge of this type of technique, as it definitely surpasses everything that I know about jutsu."

The moment Sorri spotted the infected birds and slumpped to the the ground while bringing his knees up and wraping the bottom of his hoodi just over his feet. He gripped on to the tree with his knees and hands usign his sleeves as protective gloves. Slowwing the plop to a soft set down, appering like a root lump on the greyyinh tree. He lucked up. As Sorri peered up at the crows from under his hoodie they had been flying away. The Ibazi look bac toward the waterfall's top, That where the other's had been heading. The sigh rushed past his gritted teeth. A Genin was supposed to report back to their higher up,

Sorri started his mid sprint toward the bird's direction, enough the catch up without getting cuaght. Those ...THINGS were eating people! He'd make sure they wouldn't live long enough for another meal.

It seemed the battle was over for now. They had learned something important, and this would undoubtedly change the tides of this horrible plague once it was reported. But, she doubted this stream alone was responsible. If there were more of the staves planted around the village, that could mean trouble. As for the man... well, she hadn't seen a dead man before, but aside from the signs of death it didn't seem all that special. She wasn't attached to the stranger, anyhow. The Uchiha's comment, though, got under her skin a little. "Aunt Yuki... is unaccounted for, presumed dead," she replied flatly, her annoyance starting to slip into her speech. "If she were here, she would have still attempted--and failing that, she would have notified the proper authorities to find his body and carry out the funerary rites." She recovered her weaponry and straightened up. "As it is, that task will have to fall upon someone, perhaps myself since I am of her clan. Unless Kage-sama has other instructions, I intend to see if Yuki-sama left behind some scrolls on medicine." She turned her eyes away as her voice grew dark and weak. "Someone has to take up the slack," she insisted.

Akiko seemed to take Sukotto's comment about Yuki harder than the death of the villager. It was understandable and he wanted to help the girl if it was possible, but for one thing, he wouldn't even know where to start and it wasn't the time or place for it anyway. "I'm sure she would be honored to have you take up that path if it is the one you do choose to take. A medical shinobi is by far the most significant part of protecting a squad and the village as a whole." Sukotto looked back towards the staff for a moment and then back to Akiko. "I want to check out the Forest of Sorrows before we report this staff to Himoto. We came to the lagoon first because I knew it would be easier to handle than anything we found within the forest." Even though the staff was quite an important piece of information, Sukotto knew that it would be best to check out the forest first since everyone was already alert and prepared to deal with the infected creatures. It was possible that there would be villagers who could be saved and it was also possible that they could learn more about the staff and the infection from the forest. "Let's head there now, Akiko. By the way, you did well with getting that crab into a proper position. It would have been much harder on my own. Thank you for your help." With that, Sukotto turned towards the opening of the cavern. He would let all of the others know that they were to head to the Forest of Sorrows whenever they were ready to continue with the mission.

Akiko shrugged off his comments. In the situation they were in now, honor meant little. There were people getting sick and dying every day in the village; it wasn't a matter of honor but of necessity that she had to pursue this. The current crisis was far from over. It seemed there was more to this mission, so she couldn't attend to those matters quite yet. She wondered why he said the threat in the forest was greater, though; what did he know that he wasn't telling her?

"I'll be along shortly," Akiko insisted. She wanted to be sure the place was absolutely clear before she left. It didn't seem there were any infected creatures left there or villagers, for that matter. Come to think of it, why was the villager who was attacked by the crab there in the first place? She could theorize, but since the body couldn't be identified quite yet she couldn't say anything with any certainty. She gave the place one last look-over. "This place..." She concluded, "may be useful to us.". With that said, she departed and headed for the Forest of Sorrows.
