". . . O-o-of course!" Jaxon stuttered from a sudden over-eagerness. That boyish side that had become dormant the last four years suddenly flared in his eyes before it subsided again. This was Mai they were talking about. All she wanted was an escort, it meant nothing else naturally. He could be pretty ridiculous; it was himself that set him up for disappointments, time after time, not the world. Funny that after all this time hope still managed to flutter in his head.

"Would you like an arm, miss?" He was expecting a full refusal; the question was more instinct than intellect. He had been brought up with gentlemanly manners, and although since he joined Team Rocket they had become a bit skewed (well, gentlemen aren't supposed to sleep with women then leave them, y'know), they were still vaguely there. From what he knew of her, she wouldn't take help for something like simple walking, but hey, it was the same as it was now if she loathed him for whatever.

"Oh crap! George! I forgot to go say goodby to Steve. Ooooooh He's going to kill me." Sere fretted, she turned and ran back into town and towards the pokecentre where Steve now worked as a medic to both pokemon and trainer alike. "George why didn't you remind me?" Serenity asked the bewildered mudkip that was running along side her.

"Kip?" he asked. He really had no idea what his trainer was talking about. She mumbled so much!

Serenity went barrelling into the pokecenter, startling most of the people that were there. Once she realized that there was so many people, she walked a little slower and was more cautious. She approached the counter and the nurse behind it. "Hi Mary, is Steve in?" Sere asked. Her voice was quiet and the nurse behind the counter had to lean in and get her to repeat it. "Steve?" She mumbled the second time.

"Oh! Sorry Serenity, but he had to make a few house calls. Did you want me to leave him a message dear?"

Sere's hopes fell. "Oh. Okay. Thanks Mary." She leaned against the counter and thought about what to do next. George was bouncing around at her feet in an attempt to make her smile.

After the...moment shared by Pokemon and trainer, both boys casually sat back on the couch and waited for Napalm to finish his treatment. Mike let out a small chuckle as he saw Portabello's legs dangle in the air off the couch. The Breloom did have his occasional moments of being unintentionally cute.

At that point, the electronic doors flew open, and a rather short girl with long blond hair practically flew in. Mike was surprised the desk didn't fly back, she nearly collided with it. The boy opened his mouth to make some sort of smart a** remark regarding the blonde's haste, but that would be such a hypocritical stance that he was sure the very tectonic plates beneath the earth would shift. Instead, a simple wave sufficed. At the very least she was cute.

Serenity found her self sinking to the floor, back against the front desk, trying to figure out if she should wait for Steve to return before heading out or if she should just send him a message later. George bounced around her and on her knees doing everything he could to get her to laugh.

"Thank George." She smiled at the little blue pokemon and patted his head. "Do you have an idea on what we should do?"

George looked up at his trainer, then bounced back onto her knees so he could look right in her eyes. "Kip kip!" He said to her. She needed to get out of this city and get exploring on her own. He bounced up and down on her knee.

"You're right." Sere nodded. "He knew I was leaving today. I'll send him a message later." She got up from the floor.

Apparently the gesture had gone unnoticed. That or she was ignoring him. Nah, it couldn't be that, she looked too timid to be that rude. Mike looked up, the treatment light was off. Funny, he didn't remember hearing it ding.

Nurse Joy walked up to the counter and leaned forward on the desk, looking around. She noticed Mike sitting on the couch and smiled the usual Joy smile. "Oh Mike, your Magby is all better now."

"Ah, sweet!" the Lavaridge boy practically bounced off the couch and walked over to the desk, taking back his Pokeball. "Thanks Joy, you're a real lifesaver."

"Oh no problem." The nurse waved her hand dismissively. "He was such a well behaved little angel that it was no trouble at all. You two be careful out there!"

Mike briefly inspected the Pokeball, it felt hotter than he remembered. He released his Pokemon, the Magby looked as good as new. "Welcome back."

His gaze shifted slowly to the girl sitting against the desk right beside him. She looked lost. "Hello there." said the boy. "Something the matter little missy?"

Napalm, being the curious Pokemon he was, waddled up to the Mudkip, blinking a few times in confusion. He'd never seen a Pokemon like this before.

Serenity was lost in her own thoughts and didn't even notice that someone was there until the heat from the little red pokemon caught her attention. When she saw the tall boy beisde her she blushed. She got up to her feet, while the Mudkip investigated the small red pokemon that had come up to see what was going on.

"I'm, o-okay." She stuttered. Then lectured her self for being unable to talk to someone new. You can do this. She thought.

"I came to say good bye to my brother, but he's not in." All the words came out at once. She had gone from stuttering to stumbling. She still wouldn't look him in the eye, but it was quite obvious that he was not by any means unattractive and was almost a foot taller than she was.

"Sorry if we were in your way." She said looking back down at the too pokemon. The one that belonged to the boy started to back away towards it's trainer. "What kind of pokemon is that? I'm not sure if I've seen it before. Fire type right?" A discussion about pokemon was one that she could get involved in an feel fairly confident about not messing it up.

Aw, she's shy. It was cute, he hadn't been talked to like this for a long time. It was like he was back in Kanto with Mitsu and Kasiya. "No need to get worked up," Mike smiled reassuringly. "I'm by far no one important enough to be nervous around." He glanced down at Napalm, then back at the girl. She must have been nervous, because asking if a Pokemon who radiated enough heat to cause the air around him to ripple was a Fire type was a little silly. "Yeah, he's a Fire Pokemon. A Magby. I call him Napalm and I'm currently trying to evolve him into a Magmar." He tried to speak a bit more calm than normal, his usual mile-a-minute chattering would probably scare the poor girl even more.

Pleased to meet you miss. Portabello had gotten off the couch and walked over to introduce himself. He bowed, tipping his mushroom cap slightly. Always a pleasure to meet a lady.

"This is Portabello, my Breloom." Mike pat the Grass Pokemon on the head gently. "He can use telepathy so don't worry if you start hearing words in your head." The two chuckled slightly. They always forgot that psychic communication wasn't normal from a walking mushroom, or from many Pokemon for that matter.

Napalm took a closer look at the Pokemon. It looked kinda like a fish with legs. The Magby leaned in closer, stealing a quick sniff. It smelled odd. It smelled, well, like a fish. However, Portabello's tail smelled a little funny and he really liked him, so perhaps Pokemon that smelled weird were nicer? It was worth a shot. Napalm watched as Portabello tilted forward, then rose back up slightly. The Magby straightened up, facing the land-fish. He slowly leaned forward. Soon he learned the error of his ways as he struggled to keep balance, his head was too big. Napalm flailed, struggling to keep up before falling face first on the ground. The Pokemon spit up a bit of smoke in defeat, maybe someday he won't be so top heavy.

Groaning inwardly at Giovanni's refusal Ampersand sighed and pushed himself out of his seat. He really needed to find someone to fill that last seat, it was to much work to be a temporary stand in and do is regular job! Back on his feet he pulled his hat back up onto his head. "It is a good thing that you decided to keep quiet on this, after all no one likes to look like a fool. I mean who would believe that what I just told you after all?" He grinned slightly, oh there was always a risk of that but it was reduced far greater when one controlled the media output.

Facing Giovanni Ampersand gave him a tip of his hat and a slight bow. "Thank you very much for your hospitality. I was sure someone was going to try to attack me at some point. It just goes to show you never know." Ampersand added on as he looked around the office one final time. "It was a pleasure talking to you." That said he made his way to the exit of the room before pausing slightly. Not turning around he left a small warning. "If you are planning anything for the beach party or the announcement after I would recommend that you reconsider. There won't just be those kids there this time." Message said he walked out of the room showing himself out.

Stepping out of the Rocket Base he blinked uncomfortably a few times at the bright sunlight before reaching into his bag and pulling out his pokenavi. Twiddling it between his fingers for a moment he contemplated his next move. He really didn't want to go back to through the forest with that creepy kid again. Thats when he remembered! He didn't have to go through that forest, this would actually work out. Dialing Robins number he waited impatiently for her to pick up.

To say she was startled by the voice in her head was an understatement. Serenity jumped about a foot off the floor. "OH! We have a few of those at home. He just took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting too many pokemon out here to be so friendly with their telepathy." She said. Sere bowed to the Breloom. "Hello there. It is nice to meet you too."

She watched as the Magby investigated George. "Ah, the baby form of magmar. Of course." She giggled a bit when he toppled over. George was unafraid of the fire type, but found it curious that the fire type was not running away from the water type. "Sorry, I-I'm not used to being out around people too often. When I am I have a tendency to babble a bit, and I-I can never find the right words to say." She said blushing again.

"I'm Serenity." She stuck out her hand to shake. "I'm on my way down to Slateport."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 24, 2008 1:50 pm

"I don't think you're babbling." Mike said in response to the girl's defensive attitude. "Trust me, I know people a lot worse." Smiling again, the boy went to return the shake, but quickly retracted, taking off his right glove first. He didn't want an accidental heat spike to burn the poor girl's hand. "Serenity," He repeated. "That's a lovely name." The boy returned the shake warmly, glad to have met someone new. Her hands were very soft. This was clearly a girl who barely left the house. "My name is Mike Kyoka from the town of Lavaridge and my dream is to become the most powerful Fire Pokemon trainer in the world." He donned his glove once more, casually inspecting the girl. "I don't see any more than one Pokeball on you so I assume a battle is out of the question?" He asked somewhat jokingly, but admittedly a friendly duel between friends would be a nice change of pace from his recent batch of battles. Fighting evil teams and wild Pokemon just didn't have the same feeling as between two experienced trainers.

Mike leaned back on the counter, talking about Fire Pokemon made him anxious to get back to training Napalm, and he still hadn't gone shopping yet. "So what do you have planned? I was going to go train Napalm but first I was going to stop by the department store here." The boy looked expectantly, wondering if his new friend would want to join him. He would understand if she didn't, if she was a new trainer like Mike assumed, she would no doubt want to run out and get a start on her adventure.

Robin was looking at a big chunk of amber that supposedly had a pokemon inside of it when she heard her pokenavi ring. Reaching into her bag and pulling it out she flipped it open and stared at the unknown number before picking it up tenativly. "Hello?" On her shoulder Luffy perked up, the initial this might be interesting had turned into pure boredom and now he wanted to leave.

"Hello there Robin. I finished up a little earlier then expected. You can head down to Digletts cave if you want." Ampersand's cheerful voice came from over the phone.

"Oh well that was pretty fast." Robin said slightly disappointed, she wanted to spend more time here. Oh well she did have to go and meet her mom to so it was probably best that she left now anyway. "All right I will meet you down at entrance to Digletts cave right?" Luffy was almost ex tactic when he heard cool hat mans voice over the phone. He was going to rescue him!

"Yup thats right, its near the pokemon center a bit to the east of it."

That said the two said there goodbyes and a promise to see each other soon before Robin shut the device and slipped it back into her bag. "All right then Luffy, it looks like its time for us to head out." She sighed in disappointment casting one last glance over her shoulder at all the stuff she had yet to look at. When they left Luffy let out a cry of joy and jumped down to the ground dashing about happy to finally be free!

The field that Lairon had created looked a lot less round from above than it did on the ground. In fact, it was more like a oblong oval. Kilik rested against his Flygon and closed his eyes. The fact the Lilycove Pokemon Center was so close was practically a dream come true. A sigh escaped him. Flying didn't bother him as much anymore, now that he was used to it. That, and he trusted Bahamut completely. The boy shivered as they flew over Mt. Pyre. It could've been either the idea of all the dead Pokemon or that Mt. Pyre always seemed so cold. He wasn't really sure.

In any case, the short flight was over within a span of ten or so minutes. Bahamut flared her wings and brought Kilik to a safe landing in front of the Center. She stretched a bit as her trainer and was recalled into her ball shortly afterward. The trainer walked inside, headed straight for Nurse Joy. He noticed Mike and an unfamiliar girl in front of the desk. Does he ever stay with just ONE chick? he thought. "What'll it be, Kilik?" she smiled. Seemed she remembered him from the night before. Of course, it was difficult to forget such outlandish hair and such bright clothing.

"Just heal up these," he said, handing over Lairon, Flygon, Scizor and Weezing's Pokeballs. With a cheerful nod, Nurse Joy took the tray and walked towards the back of the Center to heal them up. "Shopping?" he laughed, "One of the whole reasons we came to Lilycove and you're finally getting it done?" Kilik leaned against the counter next to Mike, crossing his arms over his chest.

"You keep at that young blood," Mike said with false frustration. "and you'll be sorry." The boy lightly punched the boy in the shoulder, addressing the presence of his new friend with his free hand. "Kilik, this is Serenity. Serenity, Kilik." He looked at his friend's expression, narrowing his eyes slightly. "I know that look." said Mike, chuckling slightly. "That's he 'Does he ever stay with just ONE chick?' look." He leaned back, pressing his lips together, making a raspberry. "Me and Flannery are quite happy thank you. I don't need you babysitting my morality and fidelity. I can manage on my own." To be honest though, he had a tough time remembering when the last time he had called or even messaged her last. He made a mental note to fix that.

Portabello casually nodded to the raven haired boy. Sir Kilik. The Pokemon said simply.

Napalm however, had a more on his mind than simple salutations. Practically stomping his way towards Kilik, the Magby tugged on the tall boy's pant leg. The look on the little Pokemon's face was one of pure intention, his demand was obvious.

"I hope you've been training your Elekid Kilik." Mike said, his eyes not leaving his Pokemon. "Because it looks like Napalm wants another rematch."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:46 pm

Kilik bowed at both Serenity and Portabello. When Napalm tugged at his pant leg, he looked down and smiled. "A rematch, huh?" he tapped his chin and thought about it. It had been a while since the two baby Pokemon had a chance to battle against each other. To him, it seemed like they wanted to fight more than work together back on the Aqua Base assault. With a nod, Kilik took up Elekid's Pokeball. "Alright, that sounds good to me. Outside the Pokemon center?" he tossed the ball up and down a few times before releasing his Elekid.

The plug burst out of the ball excitedly, running about to stretch his legs. He'd been cooped up in there since the morning and, being the pent up ball of energy he was, getting out was pure bliss. Then he caught eyes with Napalm. A surge of electricity shivered through his body. Between the two prongs of his plug went three short zaps of lightning. "Calm down, Elekid. Save it for outside." Putting his hands into his pockets, Kilik began walking towards the door. "You're welcome to watch, Serenity."

Elekid followed, very slowly. He even walked backwards to keep his eyes on Napalm. When he accidentally bumped into Kilik's leg, though, he turned around quickly and dashed outside. He was ready to put that uppity Magby in his place.

"Yeah, come on Serenity!" Mike shouted as he dashed outside. The battle proposition came so fast that Napalm barely had the time to react before his trainer dashed outside. The little Pokemon practically tripped over himself as he tried to keep up with his overeager trainer.

As both boy and Pokemon reached outside, Mike skidded to a halt, ready to begin. "So is this just a baby battle or are we talkin' the real deal here?" The boy's leg twitched with excitement, it had been a while since he and Kilik battled.

Napalm didn't care about what was coming after his fight, he just wanted to sink his fist into that cowardly Elekid. The Fire Pokemon threw his head to the side, spitting out a bit of molten magma from his beak. Smoke poured out of the Magby's mouth. He was so ready.
