To be burned:
~Christmas Festival
~Our fight song
~Australian Up-Country Tune
~Scenes from the Lourve
~Hark, the Herald Angels Sang
~Star Spangled Banner
~Olympic Spirit
~Almost all Marches cuz they are evil...((Off beat is annoying through a whole piece))

Songs to be loved for eternity:
~Ride
~Sleep
~Song
~On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss (i have solo!)
~Sleigh Ride

My Band played Sleep! It twas uber good too... okay... songs that should be burned... My school's fight song! It's 'Victors' which is the University of Michigan's fight song. I don't really hate hearing the song, it's just playing it! Cause it's cut time, uber freakin' fast, and the flute part is hard!... mostly cause I never learned it freshmen year and I'm now a junior and am too lazy to actually take the time to learn it.... ANYWHO... Victors and Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer need to be burned...

I saw a lot of people putting this and I have to disagree... Pomp and Circumstance. I like it! Not the easy junior high/elementary school version, the real version. I like it. Yes it's a bit slower then my own personal taste... but I still like it! When my Band plays it it sounds really pretty.

i HATE the song Circus Bee. i had to transpose it to play it, AND THE WHOLE THING WAS OOM-PAS!!!!!! (as in rest-quarter-rest-quarter forever and ever) i was close to burning that song by the end of last year.

I love you. I totally agree. I hate that song!! My friend had to do the same thing, and after the semester...she DID burn it!

Cloudburst and Sleep need to die now. I play nineteen measures in an one hundred and seventy-five measure piece. The guy must have hated the bassoon. Curse you for writing it! I hope people burn your music!!! Or make fun of it behind your back! twisted

YES! I did the same thing. And because we preformed it with the choir, we had a smaller instrumentation, and I'm already the only one playing Bassoon, but the bd said he might not have me play, and then he changed his mind...I was SO CLOSE to not playing! gonk gonk cry

I can't remember the name of the song right now, but there was this one song we played last year, and I hated it! It was an english folk song, but the page was more ink than white space. And this was sophmore band.

I hate to think what they were playing in the other class.

I don't remember the full name, but it was a Menuet.
I had to play it once for NYSSMA and again for all county.
Sooo sick of that piece.
Also, 25 or 6 to 4.
And Gonna Fly Now.
And The Magnificent Seven.
Which happen to be our past three marching band songs. *Shudder*

Yeah it sounds good... the first time you hear it, not after you hear it at every graduation ceramony ever.

I'm sure alot of people have already said this, but Pomp and Circumstance. I just don't like it, I know it's a special piece for all those happy parents who have graduating kids, but I've always wished we could have played something a little bit more exciting...and better....I also don't like March Grandioso, it's such a shrill song for the clarinet.

I'm probably going to be stoned, burned alive and then drowned for saying this.

Chester by Schuman (I think it's the right composer, I've tried to block it out of my memory).

No, we're not talking about the watered down middle school version. We're talking about the real thing. The technical sections are a nightmare to put together even in a very good ensemble and the whole section with the E chords vs. A chords (I think that's right, it's E and something) just isn't all that appealing to me. To add sort of an insult to injury, we worked on that piece for 5 months straight - for district and state concert festival/MPA/whatever you call it.

If we wanna talk marching music - Soak Up the Sun is at the top of my list. Especially when it's not even sunny outside during most of our football games.
