Dari let this kiss linger as he touched the back of Cody's head. When it broke, he nodded and almost whispered: "Sure."
He grabbed the bag and opened it, popping one in his mouth as he worked the hole into a bigger one. He looked sideways to Cody and smiled as he began to chew.

Cody was working with a matchbook and having very little success. Three of them hadn't lit at all, one flickered, but this didn't seem to bother him. The fifth one worked and he tossed it into the wood pile. He was grinning.
"I've never been good at this," he admitted.

"At... striking matches?" Dari asked, mouth full. They usually weren't without on missions but they had been trained for survival. That being said, he didn't think he could start a fire with Cody's reading glasses regardless. He watched as the flame caught though. Good. It had worked.

"Yeah. Well. No. At starting fires at all," Cody smirked and shook his head. He looked up at Dari and smiled at him. He offered him a roasting fork and a bar of chocolate. "Here you go, love."
He stood, dusted his pants off and sat next to Dari.

Dari got out a long sheet of graham cracker for himself, and then another for Cody. As his lover offered the chocolate and fork, he offered back a marshmallow and crackers. Then he leaned over and rested his head on Cody's shoulder.
He had never done this before, not outside, and it wasn't like Toby was ready and raring to go camping. This was nice, even if it wasn't quite dark. He speared a marshmallow and held it over the young fire.
"How do you like it?" he asked ambiguously.

Cody took the crackers and marshmallow and appeared it. He smiled. "I like mine golden and toasted." Melted mess on the inside, crispy on the outside without being burnt. They were perfect. "How do you like yours, love? I'll make you a s'more."

"The same. It's like we were meant to be," he teased, bumping into Cody and then kissing his jawline. Except he'd really like them any way, but golden was best. He used his free hand to stroke Cody's curls.

"We were," Cody said, softly. At least, he thought so. Dari touched his heart in ways no one ever had, and he'd worked his way there so quickly, Cody thought their meeting had been some sort of miracle. He held the toasting fork over the fire and smiled to Dari.
"I've never loved someone like I do you."

Dari smiled. He could tell that Cody meant what he said, not that he was just joking around or being cheesy. Dari snuggled against his lover's shoulder again and laid his hand on Cody's leg.
"Neither have I," Dari said, and he meant it doubly. He had never felt romantically toward anyone in all of his life. It had been short, but he had been told it would never happen this fast, and that was after learning it could be possible at all.

Cody wrapped the arm that wasn't toasting marshmallows around Dari. He smiled, and took the marshmallow off of the fire. He offered it to Dari.
"We're like this marshmallow," he said. "Perfect."

He had to laugh. Now that, that was cheesy.
"You have such confidence in your marshmallow-toasting," Dari said. He sandwiched the marshmallow between the chocolate and cracker and took it off with him. There was no hard core remaining on the fork. "Ah, good job! I guess you're right." He took a bite of his s'more and then leaned over to kiss Cody, lips still sticky with sugar and melted chocolate.

Cody was grinning. He shook his head at Dari as he complimented him. "Yours is going to burn," he said, before spearing another marshmallow on his fork.
He returned the kiss, licking his lips afterward. "You taste like a s'more," he teased, capturing Dari's lips again.

Yes, Dari's marshmallow was bound to burn. There were more interesting things to worry about now, though, like sugary boyfriend kisses. When the kiss broke, he took his flaming mallow from the fire, blew on it, and ate it straight off the tine. The charcoal taste was interesting, but it had left a chewy center on his fork. Ah well. He popped another over that one and tried again.

Cody watched as Dari ate the burnt marshmallow, wrinkling his nose slightly. "I always hate the aftertaste the burnt part leaves," he said. He let his marshmallow turn golden and put It on a graham cracker and stuck a piece of chocolate in between.

Dari shrugged and smiled. The taste was interesting if nothing else. He didn't get many burnt things with Toby and Maia cooking all the time. He watched Cody make his smore and continued to watch his own, but his free hand remained on Cody's leg. He wanted to keep on touching.
There were only so many smores one could eat, however, and so once the fire had died the couple hopped back into the car and Cody took over with his GPS. All Dari could do was smile and watch the world go by. Where did his star live, he wondered? What did it look like? How bright was it? How big?
