[ Noelle ~ Shipwreck Cove ~ Red Rose: Sleeping Quarters --> Training Room]

Noelle groaned as she rolled out of bed. By this time her wet hair had mostly dried and was slightly wavy from not having been brushed. She quickly pulled it back with a french braid, tying the bottom with a thin elastic ribbon supplied by the train's cabinets, before setting out for the training room. The walk was a relatively short and easy one, and she came upon James waiting outside the door quickly.

"Lets just go in and wait for Kyle." She said with a small smile as she pushed the door open, "How are you feeling, all things considered?"

{James : Red Rose : Outside Training Room -> Training Room}

James smiled lightly as Noelle as she saw her approach, glad that she was here and glad that she and Kyle were both willing to help, though Kyle probably not so gladly given how he mentally sounded. He nodded in agreement as Noelle suggested they enter and he followed after her inside. The training room on the Red Rose was very similar in design to the one on the train. For now it was simply a large empty room, until told to be otherwise.

"I'm feeling alright, definitely a bit better after getting some more rest. I still have way too much on my mind though. One of those things I actually want to talk to you and Kyle about a bit when this is done," he stated as he took a seat on the metal floor of the room. "What about you? Did you get any rest at all?"

[ Kyle : Red Rose : Bathroom -> Training Room ]

Kyle leaned over and drank some of the water from the tap, cupping his hands to get some, before splashing his face with another handful, looking into the mirror. His eyes were brown, as usual. Everything looked relatively normal--

--and then, for the briefest of flashes, his eyes were like pools of pitch black oil, and there were seven, and then his face split down the middle into nothing, a void, a screeching horror--

--and it was gone.

He sighed, apparently unfazed by what he'd seen.

Gods... more like abominations.

You were connected to Ajora, if only briefly. What... was that?

You saw it with your own eyes. That which even he feared. Which all should fear. The coming storm.

Kyle looked down at his left arm, still covered by the white cloth wrappings, his face still devoid of emotion.

You've the Mark of the Beast now.

---

Kyle turned down another hallway, finally spotting James and Noelle standing in front of the Training Room. The two were talking a bit as they entered, and he was lucky enough to catch the door before it closed behind them. He caught the last few words of James' question, but didn't respond to it, as it was directed at Noelle.

Instead, he gave a small wave and, once the two were in the room, closed the door behind him, tapping away at the console (allowing Noelle to answer James). The door gave a loud chunk, as if a gear had turned within it, and a light hum surrounded them as the room's compression magic activated. He'd spent a large portion of his free time in the compression chambers and, in general, tinkering with the consoles on both the train and the ship before the battle out of curiosity.

"Good... afternoon, I suppose," he said, turning around to them now. He looked normal enough, not exhausted, not frustrated, just kind of intrigued.

[[ His hood is down, and both of his arms have white cloth wrappings covering their entirety, from glove to scale pauldron. Example. Also, Kyle will be working at the panels long enough for Noelle to talk to James for a few seconds, so go ahead and respond as you see fit. ]]

[ Noelle ~ Red Rose ~ Training Room]

Noelle's mind flashed briefly to her unexpected conversation with Nick when James' asked about rest. She tried not to let her thoughts show on her face as she tried to think of a quick reply. Giving a small nod to Kyle as he came in behind them bought her a little time.

"I did lay down for a little while." She replied, "Didn't sleep any, but laying down is as good as I can get I suppose."

The agromancer knelt next to James after he sat, cautiously pulling aside his collar to see the progression of Darkness. Noelle couldn't help but frown a bit, looking over to Kyle as he spoke.

"Afternoon. Sorry for waking you."

{James : Red Rose : Training Room}

James nodded his head in understanding to what Noelle said regarding laying down. He felt a bit bad that she hadn't gotten any rest and couldn't help but wonder if she might have been able to had his problem not worsened. He turned his attention towards Kyle as he fiddled with the controls. The Dragoon's attire was to say the least very different from the last time he had seen him. He looked more like a dragoon and the elaborate mix of armor and cloth reminded him of something from the movie Thor.

"It's better than nothing, sometimes just laying down does the body and the mind a world of good," he stated.

He tried his best not to fidget or feel uncomfortable as Noelle as she pulled his collar to get a better look at the darkness. His central part of his upper torso was now all but black with tendrils spreading outward towards his shoulders and and lower ribcage. He turned his attention back to Kyle again with a grateful smile.

"Hey Kyle, yeah sorry again for waking you, I really just don't want to give this the chance to spread anymore though... I really don't know what would happen. Given how much it has spread in just... two hours?" he stated with a hint of a question, he hadn't really paid attention to how long he had been out.

[ Kyle : Red Rose : Training Room ]

"Eh, s'alright," he replied with a nonchalant shrug. He'd seen her take a look at James' chest, but he remembered it pretty vividly from the image he'd been sent. He walked over and knelt beside James, opposite Noelle. After getting situated, he pulled off his right glove, revealing his hand which quickly began to glow with golden circuitry that trailed up his arm, underneath the white wrappings. They were bright enough under the wrappings, however, to cause their outline to be visible behind the white.

"I can always go back to sleep. Better we address this now than later--so I'm going to need you to take off the top and lie down," he explained, before looking over to Noelle. "You wouldn't happen to have any plants or white magic that could help, hmm?"

[ Noelle ~ Red Rose ~ Training Room]

Noelle watched the glow in Kyle's hand before looking to him in uncertainty, "I can use a healing spell if you need, but I'm not sure what kind of plan you would need. What's the job it needs to do?"

[ Kyle : Red Rose : Training Room ]

"What I'm going to be doing is... essentially a forced purge," he explained, watching as James laid down, the clothing covering his torso disappearing due to the dress sphere's magic. There it was, lurking beneath the surface of his skin, spreading through his body. It even seemed to writhe, if only slightly, in the presence of Light. "I've only done this once. The only way I know how is to channel Light into the root of it and essentially force it up and out. Some remnants may break off and try to disperse into the other parts of the body. Do you have any sort of... I don't know. Like..."

He frowned in thought, eyes scrunched up. "Something that could act as a full body leach?"

[ Noelle ~ Red Rose ~ Training Room]

Noelle chewed the corner of her lip in thought, trying to think of something that could help. Something to act as a leech? Some sort of parasite would work, but parasitic plants weren't exactly in her repertoire. After a second it clicked--it was in Elleon's repertoire, however. Noelle thought back to when Elleon had drained all her mana. She'd used a plant she was familiar with: Witch's Hair, as it was commonly called. The bright orange threads would find their way onto hosts and coil around them, absorbing nutrients and growing to overtake the plant. The agromancer reached into her plant pouch and pulled out a small tangle of the orange lichen. She placed it on James' chest and it began growing outward until it blanketed him.

"I'll see if I can manipulate it to absorb the Darkness. I've only ever seen it used to drain mana, but I'm sure I can manage it." She said.

{James : Red Rose : Training Room}

James nodded his head as Kyle instructed him to remove his shirt and lay down. If he had felt a bit uncomfortable with Noelle just pulling at his collar a bit this was definitely a whole new level. None of the group had seen this much of his body before despite all that had happened to him and probably for good reason, while his body was by no means ugly, in fact it was quite lean, but toned due to his years of freight work. However, it was scarred in more ways than just the darkness, or the burn scar on his chest. Noelle would probably recognize the stab scars in both of his sides, but there were also countless pock-like scars from bad scarring acne when he was younger.. As he laid down he willed the dress sphere to remove his coat and the collared shirt that was underneath. The corsair couldn't help but shiver slightly as his back now touched nothing more than the cold metal of the training room floor. The dress sphere typically helped with this sort of thing, but only on parts of the body that it covered. He closed his eyes and tried to relax, not sure exactly how Kyle was going to do this forced purge. He didn't exactly like the idea of the "full body leech" as Kyle put it, but he didn't really have a choice, this had to be done. As he thought that he felt a strange clump of what felt like vines placed on his chest. He couldn't help but open his eyes in curiosity and then surprise as he saw the orange vines spread over his body, covering him like a blanket. It was definitely a very strange feeling.

"Ready whenever you two are... I guess," he stated, focusing on keeping his breathing steady and staying calm as he closed his eyes again.

[ Kyle : Red Rose : Training Room ]

He nodded. "If it helps, I'm sure there'll be plenty of residual light energy to channel through it, as well," he explained, looking down at the corsair's chest--and finally seeing the burn scar of his command seal. He frowned, but otherwise ignored it. It was just a scar.

Though his hand was already glowing bright, he could feel the increased energy surging through it with each passing moment. He was getting better at that, if nothing else.

"The room's set to keep health at optimal levels... but it can't prevent pain," he explained, sighing as he leaned over James' body, holding his hand close over the black spot--close over where Ajora had tampered with his heart. The heightened proximity with his Light probably caused some discomfort. He held his left hand arm, still gloved and without a glow, carefully at his side, palm facing James, as if preparing for something. "And I'm afraid this is probably going to be very painful."

A moment later, Kyle's right hand plunged down onto James' chest, his palm raised and his fingers pressing down like points. On contact, there was a near-blinding flare of Light as he released the charged magic, forcing it directly into James' body--and causing a sensation like searing flames rushing through his chest.

The pain wasn't the Light, specifically. Rather, the Darkness and Light were conflicting, like an infection and antibodies. The black spot was pulsating and wiggling rapidly, inflamed by the purging presence. It spread, covering the entirety of his chest, before slowly rising up... like black oil being forced through and out of his pores onto his skin. Seconds after exiting his body, the darkness would either have evaporated or been absorbed by the Witch's Hair. Some traces attempted to slither into James' extremities, but Noelle's plantwork would have pulled it out all the same.

It's never that simple.

Without warning, the largest portion of the dark infection--the root that Kyle had been targeting--flushed itself out of James' chest all at once, leaking through his pores but coagulating as a writhing, tendril-ridden mass that pushed Kyle's right hand up and away. It grew in size before the Witch's Hair could properly absorb it, and immediately, its tendrils began to assault the plant, cutting through layer after layer--

Kyle narrowed his eyes, and his left hand tensed, fingers curling much like his right hand; the arm itself seemed, ever so briefly, to emit a dark purple glow from underneath the white wrappings, though it faded as quickly as it appeared. Noelle may have noticed, though she was likely doing what she could to help out with everything as well. The dark mass suddenly convulsed, its blob-like form twisting and contorting, its tendrils falling useless at its side, and after a few seconds, it broke down entirely into smaller droplets, which were then absorbed by the Witch's Hair.

The searing sensation stopped for James, and Kyle's right arm stopped glowing as he pulled away, leaning back to sit down. He held both his arms limply in his lap. It was done.

[[ I left room for Noelle to do whatever she wants during the process. If James or Noelle have something different in mind, feel free to get me to edit, I was just going out on a limb. ]]

[Kai: Paris: Beauvais Manor: Study]

“I see no problem with it.” The artist murmured after the chair was offered. She glided unnaturally to the seat and settled herself into it, reaching for her own cup after it was poured.

She had anticipated if one or more were to be present for her visit it would have to be acceptable to more than one or more replica’s knowing.
“ A meal would be fine, “ she agreed, while hunger was something she did not always notice within herself, it was handy to have it offered when it was not one of her primary concerns. It was unclear to her if they needed nourishment if they could draw energy and power from other sources, but she did not think wasting time to be sure was a valuable use of her precious time. Accepting the offer would put the annoyance out of the way.

Taking in a breath of the aroma she surmised its flavor and found it palatable, taking a sip from the ornate rim of the cup. “- thank you.”

She would wait till the maidservant left before she pulled out her book.
"I'm glad you're both doing well enough in the world as of late-"
she mused in small-talk, " Since you are doing so well, I was curious if you would be interested in investing in my work. My gallery pieces are nearing completion but some extra materials would make their production go faster.” She glanced at Elleon, " Though I supposed it would hinge on what sort of works you enjoy. Everyone has their own taste."

[ Noelle ~ Red Rose ~ Training Room]

As Kyle began his work, Noelle held her hands over James to command the Witch's Hair. The flow of Darkness began steadily at first. It seemed easy enough to wick it away once she got the hang of it, but it began requiring her full concentration as the range of action increased. Then, very suddenly, Noelle was struggling to regain control over the Witch's Hair. It was being eroded, cut away by the Darkness. She fought against it, struggling to grow faster than the Darkness destroyed. A glint of purple light caught her attention, but as soon as her eyes had darted to look it was gone. Without a second to contemplate, Noelle returned her attention back to draining off the purged Darkness. As soon as that ordeal was over, the Darkness seemed to dissipate mostly on its own.

The agromancer sat back after Kyle did, pulling away some of the Witch's Hair from James so he could sit up. "You okay?"

{James : Red Rose : Training Room}

The Witch's Hair became quite heavy as it thickened, and it felt as though it were sticking to his skin and clothes were it made direct contact. He looked at Kyle and nodded his head as he stated that he would not lose health but that it was going to be painful. He was prepared for it, at least he thought he was. He closed his eyes and tried to keep his breathing steady, he cringed slightly at the strange sensation coming from the darkness, like something was writhing about inside his chest, as if trying to escape from capture.

Then he felt Kyle's fingers plunge down onto his chest with a flare of light that would have been blinding to the corsair's enhanced sight if he didn't already have his eyes closed, that was when the painful part started. It felt like flames were searing across his chest, a painful heat the like of which the gunner had never experienced before. He clenched his teeth his breath coming out in hisses as slowly but surely the darkness was being purged by the light as the two forces conflicted.

"This pain is nothing...," he said through hisses and in comparison to when the seal was placed it really wasn't. 'Nothing compared to the pain I felt at Ajora's hands.'

'Just hang in there, it is working, it won't be much longer now,' Fenrir stated.

Suddenly the pain in his chest intensified as he felt the darkness force it's way through his skin. He could hear the strange sound of something tearing away at the plants but he dared not open his eyes then it all stopped and the searing pain receded.

He felt the vines that covered his body pull away somewhat and he slowly sat back up rising to a ninety degree angle without bending his legs at all. He slowly looked down at his chest to see that the black taint was now gone, only the red burn scar remained. Satisfied he willed his shirt and coat to reform on his body.

"Yeah, I'm alright now. Thanks guys," he stated with a small smile followed by a sigh of relief. He was truly glad that it was over with. "I just hope I don't have to deal with anything like that ever again. Are my eyes back to normal now?" he asked, turning to look at the two of them with his once again hazel eyes.

[Elleon ~ Paris ~ Beauvais Manor: Study]

Elleon nodded to Chevalle and waved him away as he left the teapot. When Kai pulled out her book, the replica leaned in and sipped from her china cup. Her guest was being sly, prompting the blonde to smile.

"I'm always interested in a fellow artist's work." Elleon replied, "However, I seek to collect more . . . valuable pieces. I'd gladly become a patron if you can guarantee work that gains value."

"Ellie, baby, I'm hooome~" Delia sang as she strolled through the study's double doors. The small girl was dirty, though appeared to wear the filth along with her scratches and torn clothes with pride. She noticed that Elleon had company, but didn't seem to care until she realized Azrael was also in the room.

Delia gave the man a sly smile and put her hands on her hips, "Hey, big man's here!"

Elleon rolled her eyes and sighed, mumbling to herself, "I'm going to have to start assigning appointments, I swear . . ."

She then stood and held her hand out toward Delia, "The contract, please."

"Calm your titties, Ellie, I got it I got it." Delia smirked before pulling a wax sealed envelope from her pocket and tossing it on the desk.

"Thank you, Delia. You can spend the rest of your afternoon as you see fit." Elleon sat back down and put the envelope in her desk drawer, pulling a key out of her pocket and locking it afterward. She shortly returned her attention back to Kai, "I do apologize for the incessant interruptions, if I could split myself three ways I would."
