Nothing is definite as of yet. I want to do a Space Marine Company. Either one that follows the Codex Astartes or a Space Wolves Great Company. Ultramarines did cross my mind more than once though, they are an icon of the hobby and whatever others might say, I can see their appeal.

I used to have plasma-cannons on my dev squad, but decided to place them on tac squads since ML have been quite unreliable anti-tank and -infrantry due to misses, building a lascannon squad with the remainers of the old plasma-devs.
If the Masters of the Forge would stop issuing me dud ammos... -.-"
It´s been a good choice thou, now instead of just having one solid squad killer, I can spreat the firings all around the field, maybe use all to take down one nasty unit. :3
Solid defensive approach, that´s my game style, thanks to the god-like 3rth Ed DA codex. :p

Lady Blodwynn It's rare finding someone who is happy with the grossly hampered and outdated Dark Angels codex. surprised True, but I´m only happy because the outdated codex worked up to 5th ed rulebook, the overall changes from reliable defensive army to somewhat reliable dev squads and too stubborn in cc army, which really turned da´s into not working defence force. sad
And of course the biggest reason of them all; 3RTH EDITION DIDN´T SUCK! evil
If the Stubborn would have been same like it was in the 3rth and 4th ed rulebook, I would happily take the outdated codex anytime over the so called "4th ed codex".
Pretty much the same reason why BA players took the old supplement codex instead of the WD-BA codex, with the exception of BA still worked on the 5th ed rulebook. Most of the time... <.<
And last reason is that DA´s we´re quite dominant when it came to defensive battles, againts most armies that relied on fast assaults or light weaponryes. I can still remember the old WD where they published the overall winning changes of certain army againts certain armies in %, DA having 70% againts many armies. Don´t recall how many and I can´t find that WD anywhere to show it to you all. sad But it was quite many. <.<

Lady Blodwynn Wait, you're still using the old mini-dex? eek Yes... and no... Now a days I´m in a "not-in-a-mood-to-play" phase and patiently waiting, hopefully, for a new codex.
I tried playing pure 4th ed, pure mini-dex, both combinations, trying to figure which would work and not be unfair for the opponent, etc.
It didn´t work at all, it just wasn´t the same army anymore that I was used to play with.
Which is shame because I liked where they we´re going with the 4th ed´s concept design and ideas to replace the old rules and make it the same old army or even better. Only problem is that it´s just that; Concepts and Ideas... nothing more, nothing less.

It'll be a long time until there's a new Dark Angels codex. It might be best to just use vanilla for now.

Necrons and Chaos are up, that much is certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Dark Angels got their revision after that, there has been hearsay about a fleet-based Chapter getting an update "soon" i.e. sometime in the next two years.
Could still be Black Templars though, their codex and plastics are even older than the Angels.

Grey Knights are suppose to be next after DE´s, maybe listening to old rumours.... <.<"
Yeah, I´ve that one too, BT´s do deserve a new codex, but I think they can manage somewhat, mostly if players accepts BT´s with modern marine gear rules.
Indestructible Sword Brethrends, now that´s something to be worried about. <.<"
If you ask me.... they are gonna get a Chaplain on Dreggy. > biggrin That or Emperor´s Champion. :O

Can some one help me. I got $205 for my birth day. right now im deciding which space marine big box i should get. My options are space wolves battleforce, space marine battle force, or assault on black reach. The problem is i want my army to have more troops but to also have vehicles and heavy hitters. Plus $23.08 will be spent on supplies. Plus $20 is going to be used to get a commander My army so far is 2 full tactical squad 1 8 man tactical squad ! command squad a rino and 1 scout bike

If you want Space Wolves, answer is SW battleforce. For any other SM dex I would start with AOBR - you get everything useful, and it includes a commander to save 20$. And you can sell the orks to create further income. SM battleforce is too much troops heavy with 15 tacticals and 5 scouts, and only redeeming quality is that it includes a rhino.

Both the Space Wolves and Space Marine battleforces are quite troop heavy mind you. But both form a solid core for a beginning army. The best course of action would be to read through both codex books and see which army and distinctive style catches your fancy the most.

Personally I'd go with the regular Astartes battleforce, which has more bang for your buck. The Space Wolves set has twenty power armour models, five scouts and a drop pod, while the Astartes set has fifteen power armour models, five assault marines, five scouts and a Rhino. Granted, YMMV. Or, get both, throw them together and enjoy they conversion extravaganza that allows you to create a solid 1 HQ, 2 Troops and 1 Fast Attack force with some transports.
